My 450L cut out on me while driving once (while down shifting), within the first 50 km. Now that the engine has broken in it hasn’t done it since. It runs very lean so you have to get used to that.

Rideskishore I have the vortex. Comes stock with the LX. You can change the fuel mix and mapping. I also have the fmf q4.

The engine stalled ALOT when I first bought the bike. Wasn't happy about it, but Honda said that was just part of breaking in the motor. They were right. At 1000 miles, flame outs are nonexistent. If you consider the bike light and powerful already, well it only becomes a better bike with a replacement pipe, silencer, and vortex ECU. I love the bike. Just slapped on a set of tubliss to get more traction for the torque the bike produces.

@@bradpanter6559 I went with the Q4 FMF and megabomb header. No complaints with that set up, but if I'd do it over I'd probably go with pro circuit.

I ride a 450x supermoto and would loooove to have one of these just for the efi and extra gear. If I stall on the street it takes me like 10 minutes of cranking and kicking to get it going again. It’d be so nice to tap the starter button and be running again

Own one have 8.567 miles it’s fucking awesome when I got mine chain was way too tight the idle was low and would shut off the stock tires are trash I love the bike I have had 5 ktms 2 Suzuki’s a wr all enduro /dual sports this 450l is By far my favorite as lone as you can set it up right

Curious what you have owned for KTM's in the past. I have an 07 250xcf-w plated and am looking at getting either the KTM’s 500exc-f or the Honda 450L. Struggling with my decision.

I have 500 miles on my 450l and burn outs stopped and the throttle sensitivity got better or I just got more use to it .get a seat concept xl comfort and some zeta pro hand guards first thing.

Why is a Honda 450 more expensive than a Honda 650? It's a lot too, about 4000 bucks? When you start from a stop, what gear do you start out in? Every time you slow down you have to downshift right? You can tell I've never rode a bike like this. Rode Honda four wheelers before many times but they had automatic clutches, let off the gas and shift pretty much.

If you make 50/50 road /off road then put 50/50 tire like Shinko 804 & 805 Series Adventure Trail Tire . so put the tire you need for the use you make

It's so hard for us to find dirt back here in DC. I love the bike, but it's hard to find places to ride. The shutting off is common among people when they first get to ride. You get used to it.

Marcus Smallwood I switched to ethanol free fuel and add amsoil motorcycle octane booster and problems went away .

I have a Vortex ECU and an Exhaust system that I have compromised by fitting a CRF450L too. I am pleased to report that the ECU and the exhaust are still working fine. Buy a bike that works from the shop. Why should you have to spend a small fortune to get a new bike to run right?? Honda, get your act together. Stop blaming others for your bunch of junk.

First of all, I love the way that thing sounds! Have you had the chance to ride the Royal Enfield Himalayan yet? I sat on one and started it up at the dealer yesterday. It is probably more of a 50/50 dual purpose bike than this Honda which is more off-road focused. And only costs around $4700. I'm shorter than you by a few inches and the seat was low enough for me to have both feet on the ground. Also it has pretty full instrumentation including a compass! When it was started up the Royal Enfield stalled a couple of times too before it warmed up. Despite being fuel injected it still has a "choke" lever and I attributed the stalling to not being choked correctly.

Not to rain on your parade but those bikes suck. Not sure what your situation is or how experienced you are but if you dont know motorcycles than dont purchase one. Yea its cheap but thats because of the quality. Where im at for $4700 you can a nice used enduro but thats just me

@@danielschurr6817 my parade. . . Got rained out now. Thanks! Anyway I like the concept of the Himalayan, a mid sized dual purpose bike with a reasonable seat height (I am short) for a good price. I would have reservations about its reliability but how bad can it be, in the Itchy Boots channel one is being ridden all over the world. Plus I like that it is mechanically simple.

@@danielreigada1542 i think an xt250 would be much better in your case. Low seat height, fuel injected, 6 speed, Japanese reliability, similar price to the Himalayan. Don't get me wrong the Himalayan is awesome. They say they have fixed a lot of the problems from the past, but I would still wait a year or two to see how they fair. or... you could get the proved KLR 650 that will last to the end of time.

Don’t feel too bad. My 2020 ktm 500 also sucks at higher speeds (on road). After putting on proper golden tyres it’s even scarier...i come from a 1250 gs. I think that’s what ruined it for me. But off road it’s flippin amazing so that’s the main concern with these dual sports.
