I think the Navigator is still a top offering in the large luxury class. That said, Lincoln will need to address some shortcomings now that the Escalade is on the horizon. The infotainment is critically lacking not because the Escalade will be the new king of tech, but because the design and function is dated. That 10.2" screen, being tacked on to the dash, seems so trendy 3 years ago, but there are reasons why MB and Cadillac are reverting back to full integration in their large SUVs. Then there are small things like the plastic upper dash, vinyl materials on the doors, etc are all unbecoming of a $94k vehicle. Hopefully Lincoln addresses on the refresh of the Navigator.

What we have here is a 2020 Navigator being compared with a 2021 Escalade. Should we not wait for a 2021 Navigator for a fair comparison (assuming there will be an upgrade for the Navigator)? In the interim, it may be worth checking the new Denali - if you're not just too fussed on the highest level of refinement but enjoy rugged as well!

I agree with you, but I don't think this will receive a full fledged update until late 21-early 22. That's what I saw from a website but I could be wrong.

Miguel Ircontar you’re right the rear is not elegant enough .... I think when Lincoln refreshes the navigator they are going to truly go for blood
@shaundayful4 жыл бұрын
Few things that make it fall off for me. 1. The rear end is too reminiscent of the 2015 refresh and doesn’t fall in line with the front end and doesn’t go well with the overall design elements like the aviator does. 2. The center stack screen just jets out the dashboard and looks like an after thought. It’s not integrated into the dash in anyway. Such as the new Cadillac CT5, that screen also pops out the dash but it’s integrated in a less “after thought” fashion. 3. The soft touch dashboard and upper portion of the door panels is leatherette/vinyl material. To get the soft leather you have to upgrade to “black label” which every dealer isn’t even certified for so shouldn’t that really be part of the true top level trim, reserve? Just a thought. 4. The Turbo charged V6 has plenty of power and punch but due to the weight of the vehicle it sounds like it is trying to compensate constantly and for that sounds like a toy car. 5. The independent rear suspension also did not make the ride amazingly great as all the reviews have stated. In all honesty the ride felt as though it was a solid rear axle which in reality isn’t bad(especially after testing the Cadillac Escalade) but an IRS makes for loads of rear legroom. Just a few things I noticed from short term ownership!

Nice breakdowns and Excellent call outs! . I wish it also had the rear view mirror camera like a lot of competitors. Also, the information cluster is big but not really all that functional. Lastly, I think the camera can be much better quality and more camera angles like the competitors. Jmo

The 2021 Escalade has Lincoln fanboy wanting a fresh update, of the Navigator after Lincoln gave it a total refresh, only 3 years ago.
@MC893968 ай бұрын
My wife has the new Escalade sport platinum and i have the navigator black label and the Escalade kills it in tech but I’m surprised to say even with the magneride on the Escalade i feel like the navigator is a touch more comfortable over bumps and a little quieter inside the cabin. Comparing the stereos there’s no comparison. The Escalades is amazing. Second only to the s class burmester high end optioned stereo system Mercedes has for the highest end vehicles. That thing is unreal. But the navigators is 85% there to the Escalades. I think they both look good. Navi looks better for an older gentleman as the Escalade is more for the younger generation that wants to be flashy. So the cadi has the tech and stereo and a better interior. The navi has a smoother ride as well as a more insulated cabin. So it all depends on what you want should you not be able to have it all if you don’t wish to shell out $500k+ for the rolls Royce Cullinan. I take the navi more as I’m trying to be a little more subtle and i prefer ride quality and insulation over looks. They’re both phenomenal. But to be honest the Lexus LX is still the most comfortable large luxury suv I’ve ever had the pleasure to have. Range Rover is better than them all but you’ll only get to enjoy it for 3 months and 5k miles before the breakdowns begin and it turns into a shop queen. It was CONSTANTLY being fixed/repaired or tweaked. It was a 2021. Was awful. If it didn’t break down I’d take that all day

@damilolaakanni4 жыл бұрын
It's possible, but they'll have to tune the engine to handle towing. But that would probably compete with the GLS 63 AMG since the BMW X7 is not exactly in its size class, and there's no mention of an X7M in the works. I'm not sure Ford wants to go in that direction, because they are in love with their Ecoboost engines.
@alejandro110004 жыл бұрын
@@damilolaakanni 100% true. I bet if they did go that route, way more people would buy the lincolns because I feel like the reason people go with GM is because the V8s. Only if Ford listened to their customers.
@damilolaakanni4 жыл бұрын
@@alejandro11000 in this case you have to sacrifice one thing to get the other. GM offers you reliable V8s at the expense of gas mileage, Ford offers you more power and (theoretically) better gas mileage at the expense of reliability. I've heard of some reliable ecoboost engines, but they probably won't be as reliable as GM's 5.3 and 6.2 V8s.

The Cadillac still has the cheap GM plastic in many places, and the turning radius is worse than my F350 Dually. The Navigator is 10x better to drive and the quality of materials absolutely blows every GM vehicle out of the water. Until GM addresses the interior material issues they have, they will always be second rate, especially in terms of luxury vehicles.

With climbing fuel prices this car will cost you a lot just to operate it.... this car should be hybrid (not plug in hybrid) and should have at least 32-35 mpg in the city. Now we talking now it’s affordable. Till then keep wasting your money to create fuel hogs. And yes we want big full size suv, with luxury AND good mpg!! It’s possible!! DO IT!!
