A very tight sound, swinging all the way through. I specially liked Alba's solo, and Jan's piano. A very clean recording, as well. Not that they all aren't, but this one seemed to have an extra dollop of dynamic range. Congrats to Mssrs. Casamitjana & Roig, as well as to Joan and the whole band!

Jan opens it - impeccably, with Miquel, Pablo and Carla - and the seasoned rhythm and sax sections would ride it home easily, any time, but - MAN - 1:10 - do the young brass players perform on their own part! I said it a few years ago, at another generation change: I have no fear about the "new" SAJB - they will be fine while we say good bye to the well-known faces! Swing on!!

Wonderful rhythm section - lovely even guitar. We don't hear enough straight 4 in a bar rhythm section work Basie style, especially from the bass. Good to see the youngsters in the section work.

A composition by Benny Moten. The fundamental arrangement really helped to define the Swing Era. Benny was a band leader in Kansas City was pretty much a wide open town. Many of the greats got their start there. Thanks Benny, I appreciate your efforts. I'm sure your looking down at these young musicians going , Yeah, That's It!!!!!

I hope these kids understand how fortunate they are to be learning and playing under the direction of Joan Chamorro and his assistant teachers. I look back at my music teachers in the fifties & sixties and I wish I could thank them personally. But now they are gone.

There is always a moment when Andrea shows her stuff. A unique lady who has that special somthing that is audible in Moten Swing; certainly would make the Count Smile up there where ever he right now and thank you Joan, forever for bringing this talent along, i realize Andrea was very young in this session, but there; for a brief moment she sparkled again for the Count. & Benny Moten. Benny was born in the 1890^s and he had swing in his bones back then and with Andrea he lives again. To you Andrea; life long happiness and please...don"t let the music stop.

Fantastic performance! Great to hear Joan's band do an Ernie Wilkins arrangement (with some help from Chamorro and Monne, maybe?). Wilkins was one of the Jimmie Lunceford band's arrangers before joining Count Basie.

They're preparing for JazzingFest, the annual SAJB music festival. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the band, and all of the former members have been invited back for a special concert as part of the program. You might be interested in the Facebook group Friends of Sant Andreu Jazz Band, which I co-administrate. Lots of new info to be found there!
