I played a lot back in the 80's, was fortunate enough to perform at Montreaux, got to meet the likes of Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles, the Marsalis family and a bunch of others. Marcus Roberts was a member of my first band. While I was never a superstar, I feel qualified to know great jazz talent when I hear it. This band has everything, and I'm not sure that I've ever seen so many talented young jazz performers in one band.. ever. Thumbs up to them, it gives me great hope in the current generation and the future of jazz.

The cat on piano is par excellence. He’s at once subtle and striking with his passages. The band as a whole is so together, so dialed in as a unit, never an off note to be heard. Where do these wonderful young players derive such discipline and execution? Magnificent!

This performance is so good that I have to say the differences between them and a serious professional band are pretty small. In fact I think they are better than a lot of bands that make their living playing music. Of course, a lot of the members of this band are music professionals now, in fact, I think they might be in the majority. But still, given their age and experience, they are playing on a level that's way beyond what they have a right to. I love it! Congrats to Joan C. for putting in the many years of hard work that it takes to get to this point, starting from a base of musically inclined children. It's amazing to see and listen to, and to watch it develop and blossom over the years!

Oh yeah now that's how it done. The brother on those keys was gettin in man. Great job brother! That little sister walking on the upright bass was all there. I would love to hear (and see) her loosen up a bit and lean into to those walking runs a bit more to give her sound more body. Sister your technicals are there just lean into that feel. I see you young man on the t-bone, good job. Remember on you solos, your intro phrasing is key, its how you introduce your self to the audience- keep working at it. It was good stuff. The saxy cat played it safe on the solo but his toned phrasing was tight- well done. Now Mr. Band leader... you know you're my dude right?! I'd pay to watch you direct traffic!;) Brother that music is deep in your DNA! It runs you from top to bottom and it such a joy to see someone with such an authentic passion for their craft. Respect! Great job everyone one, I always enjoy hearing you all play. Much love form America y'all!
