"Lock up the rear wheel on downshifts?" Ever thought about blipping the throttle more decisively and smoothly matching the revs? Its what we used to do before "auto blippers". Call me old fashioned but after 26 years of Ferrari ownership I stopped buying them when the manual gearbox was replaced by a computer that made any total idiot sound like they knew how to drive. Same deal on bikes, I refuse to buy anything with a quickshifter or an auto blipper( unless I can disconnect them) If you cant operate the machines properly, stay with a scooter.

I know this is an old video, but I recently found out that this will soon be riding on tubeless spoked wheels. That certainly puts it at or near the top of my list for a new bike in the coming months.

Yes 2021 model has tubeless rims, more torque on low and mid range, couple of new paint schemes, is cleaner and has 2 more driving modes (total 5).

Very nice review, dig the scenery. What state were you riding in?
@TheMotopologist4 жыл бұрын
bob H glad you enjoyed it! I’m located in central Texas near the hill country.

@@TheMotopologist ahh I see, It's why I couldn't figure it out. Texas is one of the states I haven't been through, yet. How does that V85 pull compared to the Griso?
@TheMotopologist4 жыл бұрын
bob H the Griso is far superior in terms of raw power. If you liked the video click subscribe as most of my videos feature some scenic Texas roads.

Good technical review Sir, but why are you hogging the overtaking lane whilst at maximum risk from oncoming vehicles? Kind regards.

Good video, thanks for your effort. Lovely bike, I thoroughly enjoy mine. 7:40 Hair splitting perhaps, but CARC refers to the shaft drive set up on the single sided swing arm bikes, such as the Griso and Stelvio. The V85TT does not have CARC, using a more standard shaft drive, similar to those found on the V7s, etc. Further, the rear wheel should never lock up on any downshift. Practice and master rev matching on your downshifts, and you will never have this problem. Thanks again.
@onanysundrymule31444 жыл бұрын
Yes, engine revs to speed matching greatly required here. Edit, i.e., by throttle "blipping".
@ramblingprose66032 жыл бұрын
agreed, compression locking is a rider error. so too coasting with the clutch in is a bad habit ( there was mention of the gear indicator disappearing if clutch held in for 3 seconds)

Any fix yet for the gear indicator miss at 2:50 ?

Do you prefer Griso or V85TT?
@TheMotopologist5 жыл бұрын
Highly dependent on where I'm riding. The Griso is so much more aggressive in posture and power when compared to the upright, comfortable with a broad power band V85TT. Both have their places, but I'm not so sure the Griso's place would be anything other than paved roads or slight gravel driveways.

I'm contemplating getting one for next season and my only downside was about replacing a tube without a center stand, so I will have it installed first! I liked everthing about this bike, comfort, riding position, look, just enough power, driving shaft, Italian made.. unique bike!
@TheMotopologist5 жыл бұрын
Jean-Francois Auger you can now buy tubeless wheel setups or have your tube wheel converted to tubeless as well! However both are exponentially more expensive than the off the shelf center stand.
@jean-francoisauger99125 жыл бұрын
@@TheMotopologist Thanks, I liked the review, looking forward the next one! Is tube wheel conversion just as for enduro bikes, let be another inner tube that seals the center of the rim (spokes), or just a rim tape? Tubeless rims would have made the whole bike more expensive, so I guess it comes with Moto Guzzi charism!

Lightweight, and competes with the F800 and 790? It's the heaviest bike in the class... and unless it's a competition of looks, it's inferior in every way... I want one, but it's not because it's in any way comparable to the BMW and KTM...
