IMPORTANT ! For anyone wondering, i did this job over the weekend. You DO NOT need to take the fairings off. It is completely unnecessary. You just need an 8 inch extension for your ratchet driver. The only thing you need to do is remove the two plastic pop rivets where the fairings come together under the bike. There is plenty of room for the entire stock headers CAT, and breadbox to come out under the bike. Also, you will need a sturdy pick tool to remove the old copper crush washers from each header. Header 1, is on the foot clutch side, and they are in order, 1,2,3, ( 4 on the foot brake side)

Curious as to the advantage of the full system versus what you did with the decat pipe? Were you not happy with the decat previously? Was the new system lighter or did it create more HP? THanks.

I installed the akrapovic slip on last summer, wasn't happy with the sound since it sounded like the original. Ended up drilling the carbon fiber at the exact location where the dB killer bolt it and removed dB killer. Was better a great difference but wasn't like I wanted to. I ordered the akrapovic headers. Your video was extremely helpful, seriously a must to do the job!!!! Now I'm happy with the full line akrapovic exhaust!!! Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!!!!

Did it make a lot of difference after installing akrapovic headers? Not looking forward to pay €800 if it won’t make any louder. Did you remap ECU as well?

@@mssts88 Yes it's was day and night!, I didn't had time to remap it this summer... but the bike was fine. Dealer told me that I'm not supposed to remap it because the oxygen sensor will manage all that. But some guys told me to do it. Next summer I will do it and see if there's any difference

I recently bought this bike used with this full exhaust installed. There is a small carbon fiber heat shield that is sold separately that fits at the front of the can right on the bend near the right foot peg. The previous owner did not have it installed, but it was the first thing I did after getting a severe burn. I was in my garage and was moving the bikes around so I started up the Ninja and of course only wearing a pair of shorts ... Needless to say that heat shield is worth every penny.

As you ride it more the packing will set in on the can and it’ll get louder. I have a dual set up with basically the same motor on my 2010, just installed the header but the cans have like 20k miles on them now. Real nice deep bark from it and a growl that matches the intake nicely (which it actually kind of had with the resonator and cat still on it after I put a good 5 or 6k miles on them.)

I have a couple questions I just got this system and I’m about to install. 1 after 2 years does the carbon fiber still look good? 2 did you use the copper anti-seize compound at the joints? 3 id you find any leaks after you had it on for awhile? Thanks for the time great video.

Great video, nice detail but not too heavy on info, perfect. You need to check the A/F ratio when removing the Cat and having a more free flow exhaust system, especially if you’ve also included a higher flow air filter. You don’t need an Akro tune, that doesn’t exist, you just need to go to a tuner and ask them to make sure the ratios are correct, and the fuel rate is increased to compensate. Once you have done this, you will get the figures akropovic state on their website inc 9hp and 4nm torque. It will also mimic the stock torque/power curve so it will feel buttery smooth with more of that same acceleration feel throughout the rev range. Without the map, you won’t notice the benefits. I have done all this in the UK and it does 100-200km/hr consistently 1 second quicker, compared to the stock restrictive set up. Also the engine is more responsive and because of the free flow of the exhaust, the quick shifter is no longer hesitant on upshifts and feels like my ZX10 quick shifter. Hope this clears things up.

@louismartin4446
@louismartin4446 Жыл бұрын
Rekatively easy to drill hole and remove dB Killer…do not remove rivets because with hole on back side you hav access to re-installinf the set screw so dB killer can come in and out as you please. Just measure carefully and start with small hole ad take your time. Make a big difference in loudness I have videotaped and record the dB levell changes..At idle you gain 10db “C” which is effectively double the sound level. I already had the Akro cf muffler but did not want to spent $1500 CDn or so to buy the new headers and then probably $500 cdn for ab ECUu remap…for what??? You’ll gain a mouse’s phart worth of extra HP. We all just want the sound…so save your money and spend some time drilling out the db killer

@@jasonbarber2186 Never had a problem with my FI O2 bikes after installing an after market exhaust. As more air comes into the engine, the ECU will autonomously add more fuel. For FI bikes without O2 sensors, you MUST install a Fuel Controller module and readjust the fuel map. FI bikes with O2 sensors will usually run just fine due to the versatility of the ECU, but it will most likely not produce optimal power. The 1000SX is not a closed loop system and therefore no engine light will come on. Maybe a tuner can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. Nice Video, I added the same exhaust to mine and I'm loving it.
