Thank you for your unbiased view of the Maxima. I saved a bit and settled on a 2019 Max SL. I bought my wife a 2020 Versa which I call a mini Max because it is loaded with features my Max has. We have leased or owned over 20 Nissan cars. Aside from the many American and German brands, I have always trusted Nissan. I am 79.

Idk what anyone is talking about but the cvt on the maxima is something phenomenal, you would have to drive to understand. It’s like when your in a powerband it locks it there for a while so you can just basically shoot off like a fucking rocket when just cruising. I can’t explain it but it’s something I never felt before except for my friends m4.

@ArT oF wAr I also owned a 2014 Nissan Altima with a V6 and paddle shifters. It had the dreaded 20 MPH jidder. My dealer replaced two complet transmissions costing Nissan $7K each. The final fix was a module upgrade. Even though I traded it in with a perfectly working transmission, the value of the car dropped dramatically because of its bad repetition. I'm happy to say, I do really enjoy my new Maxima and sincerely hope Nissan has finally perfected their CVT transmission. Thanks for the chat!

Very nice! A friend has a 2018 and he loves it. Sport mode surges the power output and is a lot of fun -- giving the car way more power than you might expect from a V6. I do prefer the retro single exhaust pipes on each side of the 2018 instead of two pipes on the 2020. Overall, a classy sedan while sporty enough for most people. I'm tempted to buy my own Maxima.

Interior is nice and luxury looking, if not a bit dated and cramped. But the biggest atrocity is the CVT. For all the looks in the world, the CVT (especially from Nissan) is just a letdown.

I had this car month. Best Luxury interior I’ve seen in a while........... This car is slow as hell on the athletic side of things, it’s FWD , heavy as hell, No torque whatsoever and the cvt transmission makes me wanna go crazy. It’s sounds like damn motor boat

I always have a soft spot for maximas (3rd and 4th gen tbh) but 45k is kinda steep for a fwd cvt sedan. A lot of other 2019-2020 options at that price range.

I contemplated buying a nissan as my first car. I really did. I ended up buying a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis as the reliability in those shatter Nissan's reliability in regards to the CVT transmission.

Had a 1996 Nissan Maxima SE as my first car after graduating from Med school. Loved that car. Then traded it in for a 1999 C5 corvette, still have it. Then bought a Subura WRX because the Corvette was terrible in the winter and needed a winter car. Got rid of the WRX then bought an Acura TL. Loved it. Got married. Traded my My wife’s BMW Z3 for a Lexus IS, then traded in my Acura TL for BMW 530XI. Had children, and traded my wife’s Lexus IS for a Mercedes RL class. Trade in BMW 530XI for an Infiniti Q50s Hybrid. Traded In our Mercedes RL for a Mercedes M class SUV. Finally traded my Infiniti Q50S hybrid for a Tesla Model S Performance Raven with Ludicrous Plus and FSD. The Tesla was rear ended and needed a rental car and will be picking up a brand new 2020 Nissan Maxima for free rental today. Can’t wait! Back to that great car.

Nissan hasn't been the same for their sedans ever since Renault took over Nissan after 2001. Over 40k for a CVT FWD sedan... meh there are better options these days for that price. The 4th/5th gen Maxima's were the bulletproof ones.
