I really love how the spider rotates at 1:09 and stops just the right moment to face the camera, it's such good timing like it knows its being recorded.

I know how much incredibly hard work you put in to finding and filming these little jewels of the animal world and I am so grateful for it. I still hold out hope of finding one for myself, in the wild, here in SE Queensland and I’ll be watching your videos as a refresher before next season. Thanks again. And thanks for sharing. I really mean it. (My favourite is Mr Fuzzy Blue Face but I’ve temporarily forgotten his scientific name.)

I'm sure you will find one 🙂. Maybe you could team up with a fellow spider chaser? Two pairs of eyes are better than one!

And there are two Mr Fuzzy Blue faces now. Personatus and Banyowla 🙂

Fabulous! How many Maratus species are in total? Are the in Tasmania or New Guinea?
@LookCloser4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I think there was between 90 and 100 species at last count. It's difficult to keep track as new ones are being described every year at the moment. Yes they are in Tasmania but none described from New Guinea.

Incredible work! I only really learnt about and started finding peacock spiders midseason, wish I'd started photographing them earlier. Looking forward to next year!

They will be around next year for sure. Sharpen you eyes and photography skills because the season will be here again before you know it.

Great work Mathew! A few there that I'd like to look for next season. I reckon a personatus / sarahae trip could be on the cards :-)

Thanks Paul, sarahae is certainly on my list for next year. I also still need to catch up with that elusive pardus.
