Hard to say, they are both great kayaks. I like the speed of the predator and the stability of the topwater 120. You can't go wrong with either.

@@XtremeH18 since you're new to the game, I'll tell ya. The 120 is stable as walking on the sidewalk even under wavy conditions. I went 10 miles round trip on that yak with no issue, no motor required. The predator..well we'll just have to put that to the " icy" test. The previous model i used was absolutely my fave. Aliex and I rode that yak in crazy weather and still no issue but the stability was more for those with a touch more experience. Not saying you'd flip or fall out but it required some "bolas" to punch through some iffy situations. This new predator might be a game changer with more potential, i wont know until i get on that yak and discover its true calling.

Which one of these would you recommend someone for a first kayak? If they were planning on mainly freshwater lakes etc but some beach launching fishing etc? Thanks!

For mainly lakes I would say the Topwater 120 PDL, it's very stable. For offshore action people use the Predator PDL.
