Excellent review. I Hotshot with my single rear wheel 3500. I'm on my 4th Ram in 9 years. Crank case filter at 48k. or it will de-rate. Nothing else but filter changes. Not even brakes. 80k and time to trade for a new one. My 2020 has also run flawless. It now has 45k on Toyo 12 ply. I ordered it with the 50 gal tank plus my auxiliary 55 gal. bed tank. 8.5 mpg at 80 mph all day. Air lift remote air bags are a must for stability at the higher speeds. It's a tow monster.! No other truck on the market can give the reliability of these Rams. Keep the reviews coming . I enjoy your vids.

I would like to get some info on the tire and wheel setup you have looking to do the same for my 22
@IManOPERATOR Жыл бұрын
@@waldo198823 go to buy truck wheels They’ll have the North Star wheels there for your truck, 19.5 with the 200mm lug pattern. They even have tire packages with the wheels if you want. I haven’t looked to closely to that, however I’m currently running the Continental HD+ tires on the truck and they are doing great in the wet and snow. These bfg tire I had in this video did “okay” but they definitely lacked winter traction

I change my oil every 4000 miles with medium towing. The oil filter I use is a fleet guard lf 16035 # Strathmore which takes out the really small stuff out of the oil
@IManOPERATOR Жыл бұрын
So I’ve done oil testing on this and first round changing it at I think 7k miles after the test was done the oil still had 40% life with no bad contamination what so ever and still held like 85-90% of it lubricity from being new off the shelf. Changing it to soon is just a waist in my eyes but on average I change the oil when the truck is at about 20-30% and I’m typically 8-9k miles into it

I have been driving ram trucks for 34 years. 1989 12 valve, 03 dually 5.9 ,2021 6.7 3500 single rear wheel. The only thing that don't like is the shift limiter on the steering wheel. That should have been left on the shift lever with a rocker switch .

Solid review. I have a 2020 3500 Night Edition dually with the Aisin, 4.10s and 50-gallon tank. Absolutely the best truck I’ve owned and I’ve owned all brand of diesels. I will say that my factory tires haven’t given me an issue. I’ve got just shy of 11k miles on mine with trailer towing and a lot of long distance. Having said that, I want to swap them out to something snow rated.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate it! I bet that’s a sexy truck for sure! If you have the money I would buy yourself a set of steel wheels for the snow tires cause you will for sure be just like me 12-13k miles in if you tow a lot and destroy snow tires. I would buy a set and keep it to the side just for that season then swap back over to your summer set. It will be cheaper in the long run.
@CornFed_33 жыл бұрын
@@IManOPERATOR, I’ve considered having 2 separate sets but also don’t want to deal with that hassle every season 😂 The Nitto Exo Grappler is a good all-around choice and is 3-peak snow rated for winter driving. I had them on my 2017 F350 and they did phenomenal. I think someone else asked but have you considered rear air suspension? You’re within weight of the truck but air would certainly keep you more leveled out. I just sent a quote request out to Kelderman about my 3500 to have full air ride all around. I was spoiled with that in the Army and I’d never have to worry about sagging.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
I know the feeling just more to do to swap tires out when it time lol. And yes I’ve got asked a few times , I’m Definitely considering putting air suspension on the truck I’m gonna go with the air lift system it’s not needed but I know for sure would help out with all the weight that I tell and honestly for the weight that I have towed with my truck I’m surprised how much it squats it’s definitely not to an extreme at least that’s why it’s not that big on my list to get right now

@@easttexasengineering3489 just curious have you had any issues with the 5.0L Cummins in your XD?
@easttexasengineering34893 жыл бұрын
@@noosh8316 I got the gas engine because the additional payload you have. The diesel in the Titan reduces the payload too much. You can legally add payload by buying stronger tires etc but the tires Nissan put from the factory seem to be perfect for me. I truly believe the issues Nissan and Cummins had was MPG related. Most people state 14.5 mpg with the Cummins and look at my 3500 ram HO dually I am getting 18-19 mpg and the truck weighs 2000# more. My opinion Nissan getting rid of Cummins was a stupid mistake.
@noosh83163 жыл бұрын
@@easttexasengineering3489 agreed. I drive a 17 XD with the 5.6L also. IMO the biggest mistake Nissan made with that truck was only giving it a 8800 lb. GVWR and a 5K rear axle. To not rate the XD as a true 3/4 ton just tells me Nissan didn’t have full confidence in their product. If they did, they would have rated it to its full capacities for payload and towing to make it more attractive and competitive. It’s a shame too cause the reliability of my truck has been stellar and the 100K warranty is awesome. Continued luck with your XD 👍

Great review. I have the 2018 Ram 2500 to tow our boat and it is a machine. Yeah, it's overkill for a 7k lbs. boat, but the Toyota Tundra was getting 7mpg pulling it and the Ram 2500 makes it so easy and 13-14mpg towing. My truck has an "exhaust system modification" and some missing emissions parts that make it run cooler and faster. Keep the great videos rolling......
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
Heck ya! Even if it’s 7k just a way easier tow for you and for the truck can’t go wrong with that. And there nothing wrong with hitting a bump in the road and having the truck be a smidge lighter 😂

With everything going on in the US with steel, wood shortages. Here in Texas you CANNOT find a Ram 3500 or a GMC 3500 at any dealers in Texas. Ford has F350’s full on the lot. That tells you everything you need to know. People are not buying the fords. Just saying it’s common sense. Dealer here in Tyler offered to buy my 2020 Ram HO back for what I paid for it pluss $1000. They said they can sell it more than I paid nowadays.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
It’s the same in nearly all the states, I’ve seen 4500-5500 trucks are more likely to be found but 3500-2500 are nearly extinct. Ya I still see the Ford dealers round here stocked full of trucks, I have one freind bought a f250 and he regretted it. I’ve had the same offer for my truck they offered me the out the door price I payed for it.. it’s crazy.

I'm deciding between the f450 vs 3500 ho late next year. If ram go Allison trans I'm sold. Ford just has a better package out the door on the f450. Let see how this next year plays out for Ford vs Ram.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
The Allison system is okay in my opinion, if they put an Allison 2000 in the truck then it’s for sure worth something but the 1000 unless they’ve updated the final drive I have a feeling these trucks will blow them up with the weight they can haul.

I'll be towing a 20k 5th wheel across America and through the Rockies. Not sure what features I'll need, but definitely safety first. That's why 19.5 are important to me. But ram engine braking is also important. I'll need to look into upgrading the wheels and tires on the ram. Does that void the warranty? Thanks to your videos a Ford guy is thinking about a ram. But I'm part of no group now that my family safety comes first.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
@@PunisherOfDeath101 dang! Sounds like a fun experience! For safety in mind I would carry everything DOT mandated for commercial drivers, cones, fire extinguisher, fuses and so on, I would definitely put a viair on board air compressor on the truck too. I can’t really see wheels and tires voiding warranty since the are the same size, and close to weight as the oem, also 4500 trucks have the same front axle if I remember correctly. I’ve asked my dealer about that they told me “well we sell already modified wheels and tires on trucks before with warranty” so from that I’m sure they can’t say much about that. Especially being the same oem size. From the f350 I have and my ram 3500, Ford-suspension sags very quick, suspension washes out and hops on washboard roadways breaks have already glazed over 2 times on it. Dodge- breaks are still nearly new, exhaust break out performs the Ford in every way 100x over. Suspension is firm but forgiving and you can see it doesn’t sag much at all. Plus I love the interior of the truck and all the display you get checking all the vitals on the truck.

Hey man love the channel and the overview . I’ll be back to towing for a living soon. Trailer load weight I’d say between 6,000-10,000 daily. You think I should go with the aisin over the 68rfe? My family and I just went and took a megacab with the 68 in it and it was really nice . Just kind of iffy on it’s history. Thanks for any input you can offer. You seem very happy with the aisin .
@IManOPERATOR2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, appreciate the kind words. I can’t say anything bad on personal experience on the 68rfe since I’ve never owned one. However I can tell you my neighbor has a 2015 2500 with a 68 and he tows in the 7-12k lb range often enough and has nearly 200k on the truck now. Only issue he’s had was the trans cooler distribution block he got the upgraded aftermarket system for it and was good all over again. Only issue he’s had was that. On my end I love the Aisin system especially for what I do. I think over all the choice is yours really can’t go wrong with either one. For your need. Aisin is a bit more maintenance being it’s service is 30k besides being 50-60k for the 68. And it shifts like a Manuel it’s a slow shift not like you can hot rod around with it cause it ain’t fast lol but you do get the HO motor and when you load her up she takes off even with a 20k lb machine on the trailer. Already said a lot however long story short you can not go wrong with the Aisin however don’t let it sway you to much if you fall in love with a 68 truck.
@diamondhead2032 жыл бұрын

I enjoy your opinions on the trucks. I have a 21 Ram 3500 HO srw and came from a 15 Ram 3500 HO. The truck has about 2100 miles on it. Did you feel your truck "wake up" after a certain mileage? I've read some believe the truck is derated until a certain mileage for break in. Reason I ask is I thought there would be a big improvement in power going from 3.42 to 3.73 and with 35 more hp and 210 lb ft. The new truck feels more powerful from the low to mid range and about the same at the top end pulling the same load up the mountain as my 15.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t tell you yes or no in that one, anything after 3rd gear on this truck it always takes off. There’s a good chance you’ve already got acclimated to it’s power band, these trucks are so smooth on the power it doesn’t feel like much but I’ve passed 4th gen trucks going up a grade two times now when I was towing my skid steer and excavator and all they had on their trailer was a 3 car trailer.

I heard on other videos that if you place the exhaust brake on automatic on a Ford it works almost if not as good as the Ram, do you know anything about that?
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
So between the two, you get a wider axle up front for tighter turning and a larger rear end I think it’s a s110 Dana and you can get 4:54-4:88 gears The 4500/5500 trucks are a derated motor being a SO with the aisin trans real benefit with these trucks it’s more utilitarian for sure longer frame and more stout frame with larger breaks all around but just a touch slower. I went with mine cause I wanted a truck bed plus having the HO engine was a large thing for me. Over all you can’t go wrong with a 4500 platform it’s a beast of a rig
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
And for the Ford exhaust brake I have a f350 with my company, no auto doesn’t do a single thing and it’s no where near comparable with the cummins system, only way for the Ford to compare with the cummins is to actually use the brakes lol
