If we are to take what Specialized are saying regarding suspension, then does it not stand to reason then all race bikes should have it, if smoother is truly faster? So if we do not see future Venge and Tarmac models with it, then they truly do not believe it to be true. Or is it that the bikig public do not believe it is true and so will not buy it? The biking public will be persuaded if the Roubaix is used in more races other than cobbles and wins.

As informative as this entire interview was, IMO, it didn’t completely hit its stride until the end when he equated the product lines to the car industry. In a very non-tech manner, his summary using a Formula One analogy was perfect in identifying how the Roubaix fits in the mix with the Venge and the Tarmac. I own an older Roubaix and often thought of it as strictly for endurance. However, as I’ve transitioned to more speed based cycling, I’ve discovered the limits of my endurance engineered bike. It’s nice to see they’ve doused this generation with more performance ques - right when I’m contemplating getting a new bike... 😎

Hi there - I am trying to make a decision between Roubaix Sport and Tarmac Sport. Both are same prices and I currently own Allez Sport so will be a nice upgrade either way. I been torn for past few weeks which bike to go with, I read a lot of arguments from both sides, any wisdom from anyone would be greatly appreciated!! I do enjoy my Allez but I always felt I was always too slow, especially on climbs and I am in pretty good shape but I'm 6'4 220 pounds so Im sure that contributed :) I do a lot of 50 mile rides (at least twice a week) but also big into century rides, I don't need to be the fastest, but do want to gain some speed. I don't know how much slower Robouix is, don't care about few second difference but also don't want to be at the end..... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Roubaix would be the better selection for you. With it be more aero than the Tarmac and having the ability to supply more comfort for the long rides you get a awesome combination of what’s needed to keep you going every time you take it out.

What’s up with the crazy seat post clamping system? Not easy to travel with or adjust

By dropping the clamp it allows for more seatpost to be out of the frame, ultimately results in more flex and an increase in comfort.😊

Comparing cars to bikes with regards to suspension isn’t really a useful comparison as four wheeled cars need suspension to keep all four wheels on the ground. If a car didn’t have suspension and met an uneven bit of tarmac not all of the wheels would contact the ground and therefore grip and power transfer would be impaired.

Hello. I have the last generation Roubaix (Tiagra group). It will easily fit 650b x 38c in the rear and 42c up front. It would be interesting to see what this new frame will accommodate for fans of road plus conversions like me.
