Great review. This answered a few things I was wondering about and also informed me of other features like the cargo cover hidey space which is great since I always used to have to sacrifice cargo floor space or put it on top of boxes or strap it to the roof (or leave it at home). I'm looking at getting probably a Limited XT but also looking at the Touring for just a bit more. It has things I don't really need, but really like. Like heated steering wheel, Napa Leather, and Ventilated front seats.. I will probably go limited to save money. I don't need Navigation or the other stuff I mentioned. I want the XT motor and a lot of trim stuff I would have to buy anyway. But, still researching. The Touring is nice.

I find the Forester to be better for sleeping in because of the increased head room and cavernous rear opening. Combined these two features make it easy for me to crouch comfortably in the back. However, I’m quite short so I can see why a taller person would prefer length over height.

I’m with you on the wood grain trim. Fortunately, you can order it as an after-market accessory. I think I’m going to do just that!

It's called a Wood Grain Kit, so yes it's available.

the driver buttons in the door make easier for a driver to position the seat such they can actually get in and sit. If they're much larger than the other driver - I can't even get in if the seat is set for my wife.

The vehicle hold is really nice for folks with knee issues in stop and go traffic... just a consideration for one of it's benefits.

Actually you don't necessarily need to remove the cargo liner. The two side panels need to be snapped back into were the spare tire is. They're pins to lock them in one in the left and one one the right. Not on top of the cargo liner. Generally your videos are good and detailed with this one exception. Other than that good video.

Does this model have 4 way lumbar adjustment on the passenger side. I love everything about my 2015 Subaru Outback except for the extremely hard lumbar in the passenger seat. I am thinking about going with another car brand if Subaru has not added that feature.

Regarding the start stop feature, your math is wrong by a factor of 10. You said that for someone who went 1000 miles they would save four hours of idle time and then you said if they do 100,000 miles they save 4000 hours. Should be 400 hours.

Did you mention how the gas flap opens now? Don't forget the doors have to be unlocked to fill the tank. Not the best design since when filling at a gas station you have a slight exposure having to leave the car unlocked now.
@RobPetty6225 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I get your comment. You have to un lock your doors to get out of the car. So, they are unlocked, right? Do you normally lock them while pumping gas? If the area was that schetchy, I'd probably want to leave them unlocked so I could then get in quickly and drive away?
@The_JL_Podcast5 жыл бұрын
@@RobPetty622 it's all good. yes I normally lock doors while pumping mainly due to area I pump gas in. thank you

I'm Vehicle shopping right now too. This is on my short list too... I've noticed a few things that aren't mentioned in here, cause of course, a review from the dealership, isn't going to be as forthcoming... No showing getting in/out. there rear area is intrusive to get in/out, mostly out, due to the space from the seats to the Pillar, and the high step to get out... Re: Memory seats, that statement that not really needed, freaked me out. My wife and I drive each others vehicles all the time and we love/need it.. but sadly our 18 Legacy doesn't have the memory for the mirrors. This new version has that, luckily. So, it's a very good feature. Actually, vehicles that don't have it, are OFF my shopping list Period !! I'm Iffy on maybe going with the 2019, if i Can find one, by the time I decide finally. It is a very nice vehicle overall !!

RPM Auto Reviews The 2019 Outback is not on the new Global Platform whereas the 2020 Outback is. To me that’s a major factor in favor of the 2020 model. For me, the only reason to even consider an Outback over the Forester is the availability of a turbo option in the 2020 Outback. Otherwise, 2019/2020 Forester better suits my needs-see comments about rear opening above.
@rpmautoreviews92495 жыл бұрын
@@mpetrides I prefer the Forester too, if it had the turbo engine still, or at least just 30HP more and at least 40 ft.lbs of torque somehow.. just too week for my taste.. I'm going for a 2nd look tomorrow or Thurs.
@tommymas15 жыл бұрын
Not to be overly critical but a 32 min video that doesn't even cover the head unit is ridiculous. Plus, no test drive, you never turned the engine on, no X-Mode review, etc. This is a 12 min video at best. Also, while talking about the pros and cons about the Auto Start/Stop feature, you failed to mention that one can disable that function by hitting a button (it goes back to Stop/Start function after restarting the vehicle). In the beginning, you said that you loved every change aspect of the new interior but then you highlight a few things that you don't like later (?) to include the chrome trimming, the moonroof, etc.
@WilliamJacques5 жыл бұрын
It's not as easy to dismantle the stop/start function by hitting "a button". It's a THREE button procedure. And the auto stop/start function is a real "vibrator".. unlike others vehicles where it is barely noticeable. A real dealbreaker for me.

Which one has the more comfortable seats... the 2020 Outback or 2020 Forester?
@TheRestedTraveler5 жыл бұрын
Bryan Newton I’ve test-driven both the 2019 Forester Touring and the 2020 Outback XT Limited. The seats are similar, but they’re deeper and provide more under-leg support in the Outback.

"Finally have a place to put your phone?" Ha... In the 2018-2019 that space is much bigger and useful. Not slanted. Also you have an additional smaller place to put something, like the keyfob or a smaller phone. the new one is very cramped in that area, also the console between the seats has much less storage than the previous mode (cd changer now takes a lot of space there). Apple play screen size is actually smaller than on the previous version. They took the previous version screen, and turned it vertically. So comparing just the apple play screen size, you'll be surprised to find out that the size in the 2020 is smaller than 2019. Also when you want to turn off the auto stop, you have to go through the menu. The back of the front seats are made of cheaper black leather. Wish they were brown like the front. There is a noticeable turbo lag compared to the previous models if you are not used with it. Hate the piano black around the shifter... easy to get scratched. Ventilated seats were pretty loud. I was waiting for 2020 to come out... but after driving a touring XT and sat in it... did not like a few of the items listed above. Instead I bought a second 2019 for my wife as an almost new CPO touring with better warranty than the new one for $8000 less. The features I like in the new model are: ventilated seats (although loud), front camera, power folding mirrors tied with memory seats, rear hatch opening a little larger and better pistons on both sides, maybe the turbo after you get used to the lag (but this might make the car less reliable), storage shelf on passenger side dash. Still no 360 cameras on the touring, no proximity sensors in the front.

There’s always an Outback that’s cheaper than a crosstrek with probably similar tech, just buy a used one that’s younger than 2014 when they updated its design
