I’d take the Nissan GTR. I feel like any performance car gas or electric made in the last 10 years is more than fast enough if not too fast in most cases on the public roads to really enjoy. Drag races are fun too watch but doesn’t really matter, the instant torque from an electric car is crazy though.

Neal P I’m not a Tesla fan, but I’d definitely take the Models S performance over the GTR. They’re both automatic cars and both have very little driver interaction (being that they’re automatic), so taking the GTR makes zero sense, since it is a lesser car in every way. The Model S is better in every aspect. Comfort, mileage, PERFORMANCE, technology. If I’m gonna be driving a performance automatic car, you better fucking believe it’s gonna be a Tesla. Side note: I hate driving automatics. I don’t care how fast they are, they will always be a snore fest to drive.

The reason why people said that tesla are one trick ponies is because they are only superior quarter mile drag race, and even then it takes 30 minutes of battery warming prep for the Model S to beat the GTR, i'd be suprised if it can beat the GTR without any prep. Im not hating on electric or anything but the problem with them is that they stop pulling hard after 130mph while the GTR will keep running all the way to 200mph. Quarter mile is about 402 metter which honestly is very short, if the track was 550-600 meter then the GTR might pass the tesla, also their battery overheat if you run multiple lap on a track and they getting slower and slower. Also realisticaly speaking most people who buy GTR will not leave it at stock, you can buy the AMS Alpha 9 package and you'll get a 9 second car which will beat prettymuch anything.

In a drag race, there's a chance that the Nismo might actually be a little slower than the standard GT-R. It has a good amount of added aero, which helps a lot in the corners, but does hurt its straight line speed. The added 35 horsepower might make up for that, but it's not very much.

I agree the GTR is one of the best ICE cars for performance car enthusiasts especially given it's price/performance. Maybe the C8 is even better... And I'm not trying to be offensive, but that last statement is kind of an arbitrary metric. You can just as easily say... "also keep in mind, that the Model S uses 10% the cost in fuel per race..." or, "also keep in mind that Model S can seat 5 adults and haul 6 packs of Costco toilet paper in its two trunks and still beat the GTR." And besides, even without launch mode and Cheetah stance and battery warm-up, it probably would've still beat the GTR. Also keep in mind in stopsign-to-stopsign day-to-day driving, pretty much any EV will beat the GTR because there would be no time to get into launch mode... I used to really love the sound of an exhaust too and the fun of driving a manual, but since owning Teslas in 2013, I quickly come to associate the exhaust sound as "wasteful" and it sounds like the car is struggling... making all that noise and it can't even go quicker than a silent Tesla. Plus the ICE just sounds like it's burning money in fuel. Seriously. The fuel cost for an EV is like getting a 80% discount on gas here in California and I can "fill up" in my garage.

I've seen winning auto-x with a 3 Performance and basically the driver was doing "hard brake, slow entry, bang out the gate" all earlier than anything petrol. The rubber-band-like acceleration is the advantage, not the handling. My previous car was a 944t and it takes any turn better and I miss it - but the Model 3 is amazingly quick in normal life and an astounding daily driver. Don't hate the three, it's just a different way to car. Not drive yet really, but all the utility functions. In fact I wish my three were a wagon, would be there perfect family sports- hauler.

Some would complain that this is just playing with rich people toys, but what you guys were doing here was showcasing the truth about the auto industry that a lot of people don't want to admit: The Future is Electric. Many old school car guys laugh at EVs for being toys, like Fisher Price or Tyco RC cars... they don't take them seriously, think they are a fad, and cling to the old tech like a baby to it's momma. This video, and many others like it, are needed to show these guys and anyone else who doesn't understand the world around them what the reality is. I love conventional engines. Have a soft spot for classic steel and glass, and envy modern sports cars, but even I can recognize when the shape of things to come is taking off from a dig and leaving my V6 in Gap Town.

@@Enidx10 it's actually faster (top speed) but not as quick. But guess what? You can tune and mod a gtr! Guess what you can't do with a tesla? Uglier is opinion. Less efficient? The range on the GTR is way more than the model s, and when it's colder the model s goes an even less distance. Won't cost more overtime. Plenty of aftermarket, unlike tesla. Batteries are very pricey. Also the gtr can take corners, that's kind of the point of it. Tesla... not so much.

The battery was warm all day, they were just trying to make it interesting at the teslas expense by adding that part. This was probably model S 10th consecutive launch. Model S wins with cold batteries. In this race model S had only 60% state of charge.

@@999shi3 no it won't lol. Please check the nurburgring times. Tesla P85D is their best times at Nurburgring with 8:50, which is nowhere near Nissan GTR of 7:19. Now, on Sept. 19th 2019, Tesla said that they "can" achieve 7:20 at Nurburgring according to their data, but considering that it's been more than a year and they haven't yet ever improved their official time, you can pretty much conclude Model S is never going to beat GTR. Maybe in the future, yes, but remember: once all manufacturers start going EV, which they have, and keep improving upon, you can't even guarantee that Tesla will dominate all the EV market in the near future.(ex, Porsche Taycan Turbo S)
