Not a bad review and broadly reflects my own experience of owning a Model X for the last 6 months. It should be noted that this test car is now a little behind the current production models, which now include much nicer synthetic leather (no creases like this one clearly shows and the seat bolsters are much firmer). Also the standard 20" wheels give a better ride quality than the optional 22" wheels on this car and are also more efficient (you lose quite a bit of range with the 22" wheels). The Premium Upgrade Package mentioned at the end is now standard fitment too, although it is partially reflected in a recent price increase. Overall it's a very impressive and highly versatile car to live with on a daily basis. I had some doubts on reliability before buying, but at 8K miles I have no complaints or regrets so far. My wife and kids love it too as it's so airy and quiet inside and the sound system is awesome with premium Spotify!

Harkmannah fair criticism of Mercedes xD ? Since when Mercedes is known for cheap built quality ... As far as I know Tesla should be the one to worry and take example on German brands, especially in this price range. I was surprised the reviewer mentioned Mercedes being cheap but then I realized he was welcoming the cheap plastic throughout the car as a normal thing for an expensive car. The inside of an E-class is far superior but still the tech in a Tesla makes it more attractive. I would love to see Tesla improve their interior to German standards

Did you mention the highly convenient "voice" prompting? You can speak "Drive to 345 Maiden Lane, Upper Slobovnia" without needing to type in the full address and the navigation tool just does it. Similarly, you can say "Call Theresa May" (assuming she's in your phone contact list....) or you can say "Play Beatles Radio" and it'll pick up their tunes and others of the same genre and timeframe. This means nearly no need to type on the screen. The screen is very intuitive, however, even without this voice activation feature.

Sorry some wrong information here. It doesn't charge at 120 mph at a supercharger, it is 120 kW, so you can work out how long it takes to charge a 100 kW battery - but charge speed depends on what you start your charge at. Finally for anyone thinking of an EV the biggest benefit is waking up with a nice full battery (tank) everyday. Charging is not an issue with Tesla's.
@djhvideo6 жыл бұрын
What he means is that the charger will add range to the battery so it will add 120 miles of range in an hour or a mile of range every 30 seconds. The car generally uses power at around 500 watt hours per mile or half a kilowatt-hour per mile (2 miles per kilowatt-hour). A supercharger on a well discharged battery will charge at a rate of 100 kilowatts which gives the figure of 120mph. Charge speed tapers off after around 80% charge. (Little nit-pick - Battery capacity is Kilowatt-hours!)
@thetagmarket10585 жыл бұрын
@@djhvideo In the last couple of years, we've seen a whole new "tech-speak" evolve relative to EV's, and you have to own an EV to really understand what all the anoraks are saying. Even so... what it does demonstrate is how the car buying public is changing its evaluation criteria on what EV to buy. Gone are the days when we considered paint colour, walnut panelling, mpg and engine cc size as being most important. Now, (led by Tesla) people are comparing software version, automated features, fun bits, charge rates, charge performance and range. In other words, the driving experience is being given more weight than the inherent mechanics of the car - something the petrolheads are struggling with - until they too switch to EV.

What does it cost to charge the car up with the electic, at the moment it takes me less than 10 minutes to put fuel in my current car, doubt 10 minutes would not be much use to power up battery
@jjbr775 жыл бұрын
1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of fuel depending on your electric rate plan (and the variable cost of fuel). Average work day I never stop to charge. It's always fully charged every day I leave home. And plenty to spare when I get home. Otherwise road trip charging at a Tesla super charger is really fast now. Not as fast as gas station but sitting for lunch or coffee 25min+ is enough to top off toward your next stop. I have one stop on my 255mi model x between Howell and traverse City, Michigan for an upcoming trip.

And I like the recommendation of 100D model. However, I don't like that massive windshield. In countries where the sun is blisteringly hot, it's not going to be of much use during the day time. Also, the slant on the rear hatch costs a lot of trunk space. And the colour of the model in review is simply disgusting.

@Sgt_Glory5 жыл бұрын
The lifetime supercharging is gone now due to businesses running teslas as taxis and ridesharing abusing the system, which led to Tesla introducing a supercharger fair use policy banning it's use by commercial vehicles. I assume this is because the superchargers were meant as an occasional charge to top up while you're on a road trip, but most charging occurs at home with a regular speed charger in your garage/parking spot. So now you get one year free supercharging when you buy the car, and after that there's a fee. In Canada where I live, it's $0.22/min at or below 60kW charging speed, and $0.44/min above 60kW speed.

Interesting to watch this review in 2023 when the firmware has drastically revised the screen. It reminds me of what I liked about the version shown here and what i do not like about the current one...Tesla has a bad habit of fixing what isn't broken, and making some things worse while they add features. On the other hand, I much prefer the control setup shown here over the current one which has essentially eliminated all buttons and switches. Starting in 2021, you need to use the screen to adjust seats or steering wheel position, open the glove box, or adjust the ventilation louvers. Sexy but not especially convenient. So for my money, the interior and controls shown here is preferable to the latest one.

Tesla is producing a brilliant technically advanced machine, but its greatest attribute, is its potential to aiding in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Unfortunately there are many who live in the goldilocks zone when it comes to global warming, they are so conditioned by modern day living, with the day to day demands and expectations, that they have limited capacity, to look beyond their personal comfort zone. In general terms, they go home, turn on the air conditioner, grab a beer or some other refreshing beverage from the fridge, sit down in the comfort of their living room. Turn on the T.V., to watch a favourite soap or sporting event. And dislike anything that might potentially disrupt this routine, until a bush fire or flood event is lapping at their door, and even then there are those, who would say it’s just a fire or flood, so they can go back to their limited sense of reality. Teslas vehicles will potentially aid in getting around this mind set by producing a vehicle with appeal to the masses.

Better finishes and qualities, but Tesla has lower consumption and the network of superchargers, these 2 points that make it the best decision currently because they are the real advantages for an end user of an electric car

Tesla needs to remove their grills entirely on all their cars.it makes drag on the aerodynamics.theyre pretty much useless except for the one in the bottom front bumper am I right?

They changed the design 2 years ago just as you described. Hindsight is 20/20.😜

rich rebuilds repairs them as tesla refuse to repair any salvage ones even though legitimately are allowed back on the road.

15:12 Don't agree on that. It is pointless and childlike. Can't see why such useless features would help the brand Tesla becoming more popular

SUV?... minivan you mean. Also - HOW MUCH??? IPace please!
@Sam-ke7rn6 жыл бұрын
I-Pace might make sense in the UK, but Model X is larger (I-Pace is noticeably smaller than F-Pace whereas Model X is about the same size), faster off the line, more "OG", and the big one is the supercharger network. In the US, especially being larger with cargo space and being able to charge quickly wherever are huge. In a few years, many car companies are going to realize how much Tesla's supercharger network has put them ahead, especially as it keeps getting better. But yeah it's more of a minivan - but still a minivan that celebrities are buying because it's so cool

Where you gonna charge that ipace?
@anthonydayspring99236 жыл бұрын
At home 95% of the time...along with 95% of other EV users...🤨

It will be hard to convince people that you can't take the i-Pace across the country on any trips longer than half the range. That would be less than 150 miles in ideal conditions. The UK is not THAT small.
@anthonydayspring99236 жыл бұрын
Matt Casters can’t take it across the country??? Rubbish, because of no proprietary super charger network? I guess all the Golf E, Zoe, Leaf, etc drivers never travel further than 75 miles... Of course they do, for the few time a year you voyage halfway across the country you stop at a services and use a 50kw charger. These clever people would rather do this and pay for what they *actually* use as opposed to being saddled with a super charger network cost on vehicle purchase, whether they use it 5x a year or 50

Never mentions THE ACTUAL MISSION STATEMENT OF TESLA or GLOBAL WARMING, therefore TOTALLY MISSING THE ENTIRE POINT of the existence of Tesla.
@brunosmith69255 жыл бұрын
Good observation... Musk is on record as saying that if someone makes a better car and puts Tesla out of business, he will still feel OK, because his original mission will have been accomplished.

Yes, the Roadster is orbiting the sun, roughly the same distance as mars is orbiting the sun.

Sorry, I ain't going to spend 30 minutes of my day watching a review on 1 car.

ArslanValentine:- I don't know how stupid and "slow" you are, but it took 0.5 sec to just scroll down 3 inches and my sentence maybe took 10 seconds to type. Unlike your bitchy trolling, my comment is meant as feedback for What Car, that I personally will not waste 30 minutes watching a review on one car. What's your excuse/justification for you bitter and pointless comment?
