Toyota 86 Same 3.5 engine as in the boring Avalon. No horsepower upgrade. Most would say that makes it a profound disappointment. Imagine if the M5 has the same engine as a 530i.

@@DaddyDan77 That's interesting to me - I work at a Chevy dealer, and I feel that GM didn't do anywhere near enough to market and discount the Impala. Plain and simple, the newer Impalas were simply incredible cars. Desperately deserving of an update by 2018-2019, but still a great car with a high-quality interior, comfort, efficiency, power, space, so on and so forth. The gears are way too long and I can't stand how it was constantly upshifting on the on-ramp. I've driven a Camry V6. These problems with the long gears and gear hunting make the 300 horsepower V6 feel unusable because it's dead in the lower RPMs and revving it out will get you to illegal speeds. Hardly a sporty or fun experience.
@colelockridge58164 жыл бұрын
I agree. Which is odd because the last generation avalons and camrys specifically the 2015-2017s with the v6 and 6 speed automatic were far better. The trans in those was smarter and the engine wasn't always pulling timing. Car didn't feel electronically controlled like these do.
@DaddyDan774 жыл бұрын
Current 8-speed Aisin Transmission (wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota) has that issue. It does the same in the few GM vehicles it was put into while GM was ramping up production of their 9-speed automatic. I agree also that Toyota uses the computers to handicap that V6.
@OSTKCabal4 жыл бұрын
@@DaddyDan77 Agreed. The 8-speed 2016 Chevy Malibu Premier, one of the higher-production non-Toyota cars that particular tranny was used in, is significantly slower and less usable in the real world than the newer 9-speed models are. The shifting patterns simply aren't there - it's like they couldn't quite figure out a balance between efficiency and performance.
@colelockridge58164 жыл бұрын
@@DaddyDan77 it's really noticable. The thing spins its wheels to redline in 1st, then upshifts to 2nd and pulls timing and feels like it has 100 horsepower, and it's slow through 3rd too and then power comes back in 4th but the gears are so tall 4th is only used above 100 mph
