these are the best climate controls. i work on rental cars and with these controls they have inbetween settings like 66% power to feet 33% power to hands for example many models dont have this. not to mention you can see exactly where you want to set it to, youre not toggling a button to go from feet to window. the worst are the digital climate controls. i would get this car in the xle because this mazda infotainment knob by the shifter is the best once you get past the learning curve of the system. its a shame the back seats dont fold completely flat, i also noticed the air vents for teh body dont position very low.

Yes they do fold down. It has enough to merge on a freeway but you'll need to put your foot...all the way down. :).
@oskarngo91385 жыл бұрын
Drivers Only I mean: does it fold down “completely flat”? ( like in the Honda Fit.) Most small cars ( like the old Mazda 2, fiesta, etc.) the back of the back seat is higher than the trunk; which makes it really unuseable for bigger-heavier objects like “sleeping-people”.

I wish it had the single windshield wiper of the previous Yaris. That was very cool. This one reminds me of my 2000 Honda Civic Hatch DX. I liked the climate controls which were a lot like this car's. I hat cars that try to think for you. They're always wrong. E.g this one probably engages the A/C when you turn it to defrost. I actually had a switch installed to defeat that. In the winter, running the A/C when defrosting turns the window fog into ice crystals. If this thing had some power and a 5-speed manual ( I prefer over 6-speed ), I might consider it. As it is, it's just another wimp-mobile (meaning the car, not the owner).

I don't understand why Mazda doesn't just sell the 2 in the US instead of going through all the trouble to make this. I mean, most consumers this vehicle is targeted towards won't know or care that it's actually a Mazda, but if it were my car something would just feel odd about it. I don't see why Toyota can't sell their own Yaris sold globally here either.
@DriversOnly5 жыл бұрын
Good question. Guess Mazda wanted to concentrate on what they have and Toyota wants to continue their Yaris line without spending money on R&D.
@pr1mefire5 жыл бұрын
Drivers Only hmm, that does make sense on Mazda's part since they wanna concentrate the most on the 3 and their crossovers, and it would be less work for Toyota too since they wouldn't have to get their global Yaris changed to meet NA standards.
@maninredhelm5 жыл бұрын
Mazda is trying to re-position itself in between the economy and luxury levels in the US, so the 2 had to go. I like the 2, but it's probably a good idea for Mazda if they can pull it off. They have a smaller production capacity and smaller dealer network than Toyota, Honda and Hyundai, so it's impossible for them to outsell them no matter how good their cars are. They need for people to be willing to pay more money for a Mazda for them to remain competitive selling a smaller total number of cars.

Thanks for mentioning rear window visibility, something that seems to vanishing in most modern car designs either because of small rear windows or back headrests that can't retract into the rear seats when not in use. Merging on Interstate 55 might have provided a more relatable test of its acceleration capabilities but otherwise this was a nice review. I wish more manufacturers would go back to six-speed automatics rather than CVT's until CVT's at least until CVT's can be made more reliable.

.I score the Yaris a 95% becuase its a MAZDA, fun, quiet and roomy inside. 1. It does have rear seat cup holders, they are just located in the center armrest. 2. It does have power climate control, you just have to be the automatic power system. 3. It does have full power seats, you just have to be the power seats. 4. This Yaris can beat any sports car including the new 2020 Corvette, La Ferrari, etc, you just need to insure the other car engine is not turned ON. 5. 0-60 time might be slower than a bicycle used by the handicap or someone walking on the street , but WHO REALLY cares! 6. This Yaris scores a 95% in my book in the XLE trim!

I kept finding myself using Honda Fit as standard of subcompact hatchback and kept getting disappointed by the current market offering. Yes Accent and Versa note have price advantage but people would likely go buying something with larger cargo volume (Fit), better space management(Fit), higher reliability record (Fit), and better fuel economy (Fit). I like Mazda (currently deriving one) and I tip my hats to their driver-centric design. But I don't see a good enough offering from them after their skyactive tech since 2012. Going more premium with the new Mazda3 is just strange to me.

I don’t know why they keep calling this a Toyota Yaris when in reality it is a Mazda 2 with a Toyota label, a model that is over 5 years old. Toyota is trying to trick people telling them it’s a new Yaris. Meanwhile the UK gets the real Toyota Yaris 2020. I don’t know why Toyota is doing this with Mazda and the new Supra BMW. The commercial says “Keep moving forward” but instead they are moving backwards, so sad. Thank you Toyota for cutting corners. 👎🏼👎🏼 Pure garbage 🗑

But the new Supra isn't a rebadged BMW. By your logic, the MK2 Supra is a Lotus and the MK3 is a Yamaha, with the MK4 being one too but with a German gearbox. They co-developed the platform then spent years alone creating their own cars with it.
