They used to be $1200, and they require a lot of maintenance. I used to do it for my cousin. I mean a lot. But I loved it. The most practical advice I gave him was give a once over after every ride, and a full inspection after every hard ride. When he moved and had to do it himself, he sold it after two months and called it junk. Smh. But I got eighty a few times.

I live in Hawaii, 55 is about as fast as you're ever gonna go. My 1997 Honda 750 Magna is a great piece of iron, but way over kill, and has just become too much, too heavy, for this little 150 #, 74 YO geezer! I looked at electric bikes, and they want 5-10,000$ dollars for these things, and they don't make any noise! Now, I still feel the NEED FOR SPEED!, but 130 mph is a little much for me anymore! If I fall off, I will explode into dust! To put things in perspective, a Boss Hoss 501 at 180 mph was thrilling! However, I'm gonna watch what these dudes do with this thing, and keep it in mind. Wanna buy a well kept 1997 Honda 750 Magna with 25,000 actual miles? And! Shits and Giggles to you! Dr. Bob

Do not buy from Venom I payed $2200 I paid to have it put together and tested . It came all beat up all scratched up mirrors were missing and it came non-running. They totally refuse to do a return . Even if I was willing to take the Loss they told me I would have to pay $500 for the return . I said fine I'd rather be out $500 in $2,200 . They refuse to take it back and they made me work on it every single day we're only taking it back as last resort every day I was on the phone with the mechanic he was making me do all sorts of stuff to it taking this apart taking that apart putting it back together putting extra parts on they kept sending me it was a total nightmare I was totally exhausted after working on the thing a whole bunch of different days in a row and it still didn't even run . They won't give you your money back they won't let you ship it back for return even if you're out $500 and you want the rest of it so if they send you a faulty product that is damaged which mine sure was it was totally like a piece of junk and I never did get it running you're just out the whole thing. I'm also mechanically inclined and I was forced to work on this thing the temp to get running a new motorcycle that was supposed to be running in the first place what if someone purchased it that's not mechanically inclined and they pay for it to be put together and tested and it comes not running and now they're going to force you to work on the motorcycle will they force me to work on the motorcycle for entire week until I finally got mad and gave up . I even told them I'd appreciate a return I don't care if I lose $500 or whatever it is I don't want to work on it anymore I want to running motorcycle but I never got anywhere with them. Be aware not to purchase anything from this company if it comes defective you're screwed they won't take it back even if you pay the shipping !!!!!!

I started on a 2011 Honda CBR 250R, upgraded to a 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650, upgraded to a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and have owned 2 of these OG X22's. All that to say, if people treat these little motorcycles for what they are they would have a blast riding and maintaining them. They require a lot of love and care but in my experience that's what made me like them so much! My only tip would be to replace all the parts that have to do with operating the bike: grips, levers, rear sets, throttle and clutch cables, and the stock carb to nibbi or similar performance carb.

Hey Chase! Just wanted to let you know that I own a Venom x22 GT 125cc myself. Its a 2018 model but I got it a year ago. It was my first starter bike. I wanted to give you my advice on the bike. Venom Motorsport also has a KZbin Channel for Maintenance on the Bike. - I changed the oil right away since the shipping oil is not great. - Tighten all the bolts and add lock tights to them since some did fall off and did not come with. Which I replaced them with better ones. - I had to adjust the clutch cable because sometimes I could not switch gears. I was struggling on going from 1st to 2nd but no problem from going to 3rd to 4th. After tighten the clutch and going through the gears I do not have that problem anymore. - Check the fuel filter since mine came in the wrong way and I had to flip it. - You have to adjust the idle screw when you get the bike because it won't start. - The bottom half of my Carburetor came off because it has Non-tampered proof screws so I could not tighten if its loose so I replaced them with Philip head screws. I actually had to walk back home with the bike since it left me stranded but I was only 10 mins from my house. - The bike does vibrate when you first get it but I have 700 miles on mine and it goes away. At 6-7 thousand RPM it does vibrate but it goes away when going higher. You just have to break in the bike and go through the gears. - They also have very good customer service and answered all my questions about the bike and problems I had with it. Overall this is a good starter bike for me but I plan on buying something bigger next spring. One question where did you get those Bar Ends for the Handlebar? Hopefully this helps. :)

If you get this bike, it just needs a little TLC. Simple to work on and care for. If you can find one used even better. People sell them for a few hundred dollars. They have A NICE aftermarket support. Get either a nibbi or mikuni performance or sports carburetor, a 16 or 17 tooth front sprocket, better exhaust, decent bolts for underneath the engine (10mm), a NGK spark plug, better oil, and tighten clutch and you are good to go. Make sure to change the oil to a better oil for break in like shell rotella 15w40, and check and make sure your wiring connections are tight and its actually a solid bike. People fail to realize that people actually ride these bikes for everyday use for years in other countries. So while we have motorcycles as luxury in the west, this same bike is someone's daily driver in the east for YEARS!

Laws regarding motor size were made when 2 stroke motors were common, and power for a 50cc 2 stroke is similar to a 2 valve 125cc 4 stroke. Apparently the record for 50cc is 147kph (91 MPH).

Like the fact that you're being honest and yet not bashing the bike completely. I've seen other KZbinrs bashing the bike because it's not the same quality is a Yamaha Honda or Suzuki and I fully get that it is not one of those. 20 years ago I rode my Yamaha ysr50 down the freeway between Portland and Tualatin. The cops hit me at 72 miles an hour. I was fully tucked down with my tin touching the triple. Mind you this is a 50cc 2 stroke that's smaller than a Grom back then there wasn't a definitive law that said I could not be on the freeway. Nowadays Most states require minimum 200 CC's

I bought the naked version of this bike, the Kymco K-Pipe 125, and yes, its a crap ton of fun. The Kymco is slower due to aerodynamics, but has the same wheels, overall size, and Lifan 125cc motor. Same vibrations too, enough so that it broke a engine mount, which on the K-Pipe were a stressed part of the frame. Still got 7,000 miles out of it in 3 years riding in 3 states. Don't know if the X22 has the same semi automatic transmission as the K-Pipe though. Mine has a clutch lever, but can shift without it, which since the motor is cloned from the 50cc Honda Cub that's how it should be, but Lifan sells the same with normal clutch 4 speed and 5 speed transmissions as well. Alibaba is full of them.

Easily cruises between 100-130kmph and can comfortably ride in the higher rpms all day, revs till 11000 rpm and little to no vibrations. There's also gsxr150 which pretty much has the same performance but not available where I live as of yet.

Judging a bike on displacement is assinine, as most laws regarding displacement were written when 2 stroke motors were common. My Yamaha XV250 is faster than a Harley Davidson Street 500. And both are slower than many Euro 125's. BUT US market riders see the 125cc class as toys for people to trash and forget. Here we can buy a Honda Fireblade after having passed just a written test, and ride it legally on the street with no experience.

Even a Ninja250 is anemic as hell. Great for beginners, but torque has always been more fun than riding a slow bike fast. Banging through gears isn't fun, that crazy sinking feeling in your stomach when you feel acceleration (just like a roller coaster) is fun. People always say fast bikes aren't fun because to have fun you're doing illegal things, and that's completely untrue. You can blip the throttle and ALMOST power wheelie in 1st and still be going under 40mph. You don't have to stay on the throttle to feel torque, you don't have to race around to feel it. On the highway in traffic at 60 you can decelerate slowly, drop a gear or 2 and jump up + 20 mph in a split second. That shit's fun, it's not necessarily illegal, and you can do it safely.

As a motorcycle lover I must say that used bikes are the way to go for beginners. However, there is a huge market for light bikes. In fact, if we adopted cheap CVT motorcycles and adopt DCT motorcycles, we may grow our sport and start alleviating the auto market. In SF, motorcyclists are plentiful. But then I realize most of them probably from Asia who grew up on scooters and motorcycles. And the rest are Europeans who did the same. America needs to increase ridership. Not alienate new riders who are learning.

In 1976 I bought a new Honda CB125, a single cylinder 4 stroke road bike with 125cc. The speed limit on the freeways was 55 mph due to the Arab oil embargo. The bike was not freeway legal but I took it on the freeways all the time. I took a trip to Tijuana Mexico on the bike that was well over 200 miles round trip. The bike had no problem cruising at 60 mph. and it helped that I only weighed around 150 lbs. The bike was smooth, no awful vibration that is shown on this bike.
@strangeuniverse11992 жыл бұрын
Our president at the time Jimmy Carter urged everyone to drive 55. He said we were going to run out of fuel......well that never really happened.

OC - I think I would have to go a little more money. I have a feeling finding parts in a year or two is going to be impossible and you will brake it. Nothing against the bike but to hit a price point like that you have to cut a lot of corners. Excited to see the upgrades/mods coming.

About $150 and you can put a 141cc big bore kit on it... A $30 high lift cam... A lot of cheap fun to be had in something like this. Especially for a newer rider or someone wanting a project.
@twotone34713 жыл бұрын
The Big bore kit is the last thing you would want to do. Sprocket change is far better to take out the buzziness for highway use. The bigger motor = worse vibration. If you want more power, switch to a Minuki carb.
@jasonjulian13 жыл бұрын
@@twotone3471 yeah I don't agree. I have the 141 bbk as does a friend of mine, if anything they're less buzzy now too. Sure a carb upgrade bumps power, by maybe 1hp. A BBK is going to do 400% better. The issue with vibration on these z50 style engines is that they are not designed to go this fast. The two bolt mounting hardware especially without rubber isolators allows so much vibration into the chassis. Adding a third lower solid mount helps immensely. A 125 or 150cc single piston engine (like a gy6) isn't more vibration prone or buzzy than a 50 or 100cc version of the same. Besides all of that, a 125 class bike really shines below 50mph.. While you can hit darn near 65 or 70 with them, it's kinda outside the design perameters to do anything outside "in town" speeds
@twotone34713 жыл бұрын
@@jasonjulian1 I also own a motorcycle with this engine (I think) a Kymco K-Pipe 125. And yes its a 1950's design traced back to the Honda Cub 50. Mine has no counterbalancing shaft to take the vibrations out, and it probably got inadequate lubrication above 8,000 RPM IMHO. The vibrations caused the lower motor mount to crack at around 5,000 miles due to metal fatigue. Its a serious issue with these motors and solid motor mounts. Unless your piston is lighter than the Chinese original I fail to see how a greater reciprocating mass could cause less vibration. But seeing how you have it on hand, and I don't, you have a point.
@jasonjulian13 жыл бұрын
@@twotone3471 I think that could be due to variations in the engines despite all being the Honda 50 clone. Mine is a Lifan manufacturered engine, if it matters. Oh and they do offer a high volume oil pump for these if you think you need more lubrication.. I think there's one hole you'll need to enlarge by a half mm or so, but allegedly they work.
@twotone34713 жыл бұрын
@@jasonjulian1 Yeah its the same Lifan engine, and since that they are $400 on amazon, it was the rest of the bike shaking apart that doomed the project.I was blowing fuses every 30 miles just before it quit. truly a pain in the ass, but a fun one until the end. And the old joke about needing to drag a magnet behind a Harley Davidson to collect what fell off? Yeah I get it now.

It would be cool to see a one make race series with this bike. 1800+tires+brakes and you are competing. Run the small tracks and go all over the country. Racing series broadcast on KZbin have been doing really good lately and would probably bring in a lot of new customers.

I just bought the 250 rts, the break fluid is leaking, and N is hard as hell to get to..kinda like the shifter gets stuck. Literally, almost broke a toe trying to shift out of first. Cycling through the gears getting a feel for it while the bike was turned off. Mannnnnn, sore toe bone for 2 days.

Hey, I wonder if this venom x22 manual transmission motorcycle take any transmission fluid. I wonder what kind. I have a feeling it shares the engine oil with the transmission compartment, since I believe the transmission and the engine are together. I even see it in the parts catalog. It's like in one piece.
