Go to Volvo truck company and give them a copy of this video as imput for them to fix those defects that you're showing they should fix anything that's wrong on your truck on the house and don't charge you a single penny. By you showing them this they can fix future damages on their Volvo and help increase sell. Your imput is valuable asset to them. Keep safe and keep trucking, thank you for your service to our country. God Bless Always! 🙏

Put Velvac locking fuel caps on my Class 6 RV Hauler. The left side takes forever to get off. Right side is better but still a pain. Had longer keys made that helped, but still a pain. The left side cap is really hard to get started when putting it back on. Tried to adjust the locking bar. Still trying to get them right. Put the old ones back on til I can fix it. Takes to long to get them off when fueling. At $75.00 each, you would think they would be better. Maybe try a different brand.

I’m thinking about buying a Volvo but at every turn someone says they’re a nightmare and are always in the shop. Would you recommend someone buying a 2024? Also, what are your thoughts on getting it with a Cummins X15 instead of the D13? Good idea or bad idea? I was thinking that would make the downtime a little easier at least in regards to getting the engine serviced and stuff and I’ve heard it’s a pretty good engine.

Thanks for the review. I was wondering how everything holds up under use. I guess the engineers did not pay attention to the latches. But then I suppose the parts not under warranty get a pass over on the durability testing.
@shipmate35772 жыл бұрын
Volvo is solid overall... but they usually have little issues that really detract from them being top quality. Most of the issues you mentioned are COMMON in Volvos. Beside adding a firearm for theft protection, the first mod any trucker should do is buy/install locking gas caps.

New to your channel, so i am going binge on all your videos. Noise that transmitting up the steering shaft I would thing if you add a wrap to it a sound deading material it might transfer some of that to the sound deading wrap. You never know. Since that steering shaft is not a in constant rotation no problem with balance ie: driveline. Just need something to absorb noise. Switch locations on the shaft a few times to see if helps. Good luck and Be safe Driver.

Next truck disc brakes and battery powered APU. The battery APU’s mount in the frame below the deck plates and will shift some weight bias towards the drives.
@provostmotorsportstrucking22984 жыл бұрын
I have a battery powered APU on my Freightliner....The carrier unit is far more practical as it will run for weeks not hours....also when I park the truck it automatically charges the batteries when needed .....noise is the issue but I will deal with that for unlimited run time
@SteelBlueCorvette4 жыл бұрын
Provost Motorsports I don’t have an APU at all because I rarely if ever sleep in my truck. I’m able to hook into shore power most of the time to recharge the chassis batteries and keep my fridge running over the weekend. I think the newest battery APU’s on the Volvo’s will start the Diesel engine when power gets low to recharge the APU battery bank.

Disc brakes are supposed to be 85 lb per tandem axel less in weight, than the drum brakes. Some states give you 400 lb. over 80,000 for an APU.

The 400 lb is for the 80k the rear axles weight rate is much higher than the 34k bridge law allows

A new Volvo spec label (13500) is cheaper than a new axle. Pretty sure it may only be a different spring, if that even! That's how we DID it in the old days. LOL BTW... Sorry to hear that. Pretty much all trucks have there problems new and old. we run the things hard and stuff is going to happen
@joenichols68613 жыл бұрын
Too dam many electrical sensors for me. If they would just stick to a basic truck they would be more reliable and trouble free. And warranty doesn’t help much when a truck stays down in the shop and the payments keep rolling in. Once you start getting behind it’s so hard to catch up.

That DAVCO problem your having is a nice and easy fix. It is the Fleetguard filter you're running in it. Elemax, Volvo, Fleetguard, they're all the same Cummins filter made with a synthetic filter media. Filter constantly turns black and, in the bottom of your DAVCO you'll probably see a buildup of black goo that looks like a melted latex glove. The other thing they do is off gas which pushes fuel through the system and back to the tank. The fuel level will drop below the black collar when that happens. Causes some nasty stumbling and eventually sucking that air in, if yours does it, will take out your injectors. Switch to a traditional filter media, such as a Donaldson or Baldwin, and that all goes away. My friend and I, both with 2015 Volvos, spent far too much money chasing down those fancy fairy tale "theories" the fellas at the shop like to throw around before we finally figured it out.

Here is a sad story for you, I bought a brand new F-150 and I asked for the extended warranty because I didn't want any surprises. They took me to a room with a camera for me to sign the warranty paperwork, I thought it was weird but didn't think too much about it, until I thought I needed the warranty and called Ford, turned out it wasn't a FORD extended warranty, but an after market warranty the dealership was pushing, but they never explained to me that they where signing me up on a non ford warranty. Turns out that was why they had the camera setup so they could have video proof that you signed the paperwork for the aftermarket company because they knew they where doing wrong. and I was too stupid to verify it was a Ford warranty. Fortunately 12 years and 130 thousand miles later I have never had a mechanical issue outside of normal wear items. (brakes)

I only have two complaints about the Volvo. The steps to get in and out are to thin, accident waiting to happen. The seats are to close to the windows, I almost busted out the window a number of times with my elbow on sharp left turns. The hood latch is my favorite part, the power steering is real easy, and the turbo makes a cool sound when you press the throttle. I drive a day cab but we have one Volvo 760 otr truck we use sometimes. Best air ride in there seats.
