Was left with a choice between this, the Honda and the Kwai 400. Test riding all of them brings me here. This is the nimblest kitty in the litter. Really wanted to like the Honda my normal go to but not this time. Full Akropović saves 10 lbs and adds a wonderful note well worth the 800 bucks, probably change levers too and that’s it. Maybe a tail tidy, those things are take it or leave it for me. A nice looky loo but not necessary

I've ridden an R3 twice now, both times at Yamaha demo events. The first time I enjoyed it quite a bit. The second time, I got a false neutral on just about every single 1-2 shift during the ride. Not sure if it was just something with that bike or what...did you have any issues with that? Either way I might consider the R3 as a replacement for my cb300f for the wind protection factor alone. Looking forward to the Ninja 400 and 450L reviews, keep up the good work!
@92Cuky_2 жыл бұрын
It's probably a late answer, but still... After owning my 2019 R3 for a bit over 3 years now I use to get more false neutrals when shifting from 1st to 2nd when I am wearing normal running shoes for example. They are quite a bit more flexible than my riding boots so I assign that as the reason for those missed shifts. When I am riding with my boots I have no problems with hitting neutrals.

These bikes are mean't and built for the European market. In Europe we have different motorcycle classes, A1, A2 and A. A1=15hp max, 125ccm max. License at 16 years old. A2= 47,5hp max, unlimited ccm. License at 18 years old. A= unlimited hp, unlimited ccm. License at 20 if you took A2 when you were 18. Otherwise its 24 year old. That is why we have bikes that are low ccm and low hp. I see all the comments being like, "its too underpowered and it hasen't got enough hp. These bikes are aimed specifically for the European market and new motorcyclist in countries like America. Complaining about power on these bikes is stupid. The manufactures are trying to make these bikes as fast and good as possible under 47hp. If you want faster bikes and live in America, go for the R6 or other bikes with 100hp.

@@AST4EVER ZX25R is purpose built to be powerful and will absolutely double the price tag of the bikes in the same cc range. Different breed of bike. Don't get me wrong, as a 400 owner I'd love 50+ hp at the wheel, but on these bikes it's high, pushing them to 55-60+ turns them into ticking time bombs for far too much outlay.
@AST4EVER5 жыл бұрын
@@DenvarShay i think 50hp is feasible, 1000 cc bikes makes around 240hp on track, thus 60hp can be squeezed out from a 250cc bike. Now i don't ask them to give us 60hp, even 50 will do. What manufacturers are doing is making parallel twins in quarter litre segment, they haven't ever tried inline 4 since ages. Kawasaki tried in past and they are trying it now again, I'm positive that it will make around 50. And nobody revs to the limit in daily commute but yea in the "green zone" the power delievery will be smooth and quick, and that will be fun 😜
@DenvarShay5 жыл бұрын
@@AST4EVER Yup, if the price is right and they ship them to New Zealand I'll be picking up a 25R, my whole thing is, these small bikes don't make a great deal of power, but they do teach a great deal to those who learn to ride them well. I own a 2015 Yamaha r3 and I was curious are the 2020 r3’s compatible with the older ones? I was looking into it and from what I could find it seems the only changes were the gage cluster, front suspension, triple tree, and fairings but the frame and engine and rear of the bike all look the same? Does that mean all the new parts will fit on them all? Well I’m assuming everything other than the gage cluster or would you be able to swap that aswell?

Hey can I have your opinion on bike options for a beginner? I’m 5”4 roughly & looking at an R3, or ninja 300 which would you say best suits? My cash budget fits 2018 models & under. Any advice would be great!
@atech90205 жыл бұрын
I own a 2014 Ninja 300 and my buddy had the first year R3 ( 2015 I believe ). My Ninja was quicker than the R3! They both had about the same top speed too ( roughly 110-115MPH depending on altitude and weather ). The R3 to me was a little cramped and forced you to sit more upright ( I'm 5'8" ) while the Ninja 300 allowed you to sit pretty much how you wanted. To me, the Ninja had a more proper feeling ( felt more sportbike like ) suspension while the R3 had a more bouncy/springy feeling. The Ninja had one BIG issue though. I could feel the chassis flex and the effects of that if you are being a bad rider. The R3 has a much stiffer chassis and I didn't notice its flex nearly as much. I think this is why riders like the R3 more; they feel more secure with the reduced chassis flex. The Ninja 300 also has one other major issue with the cheap lose ball steering head bearings. I replaced the loose ball bearings with a tapered roller bearing and it is much smoother and tactile now. The chassis flex is still there, but that is more a problem of being a bad rider. The R3 has a similar steering head bearing set, but the chassis stiffness really helps its mid-corner composure. Power wise, they are so close it doesn't matter. They are both quick enough to have more than enough fun and fast enough to scare you. I came from a 600cc 2005 R6 and I initially thought the Ninja 300 would be underwhelming and poor performing, I couldn't have been more wrong. I love my Ninja 300 and it is every bit as much fun as my R6. It is not nearly as quick and fast, but it is still quick enough and fast enough to get you into trouble. I LOVE the look of the new R3 and I love the look of the Ninja too. It is pretty simple really, pick a bike and a color, you can't go wrong.

Oh man did it look cool in that matte black. I get a hands on salesman. I straddle the bike and he says, ok I will hold it steady, put your feet on the pegs. @@millanmixy love it. I've also ridden the ninja 400. Ninja has a bit more oomf. But I like the look of the R3s. Cant go wrong with either.
