Setting the bar high has some unintended consequences, but lucky for Yamaha, the 2020 Yamama R3 continues to strive for greatness and land above the rest. In Monster Energy livery, this 2020 example comes equipt with an Akrapovic slip-on and tail tidy pre-installed, thanks to the gents over at Alamo Cycle Plex. Check out this year's update video and see if you agree with my glowing opinion of this glorious machine.

3:20 yeah and sadly on a lot of full screen tv's and monitors and laptops, we have to settle for a SMALLER video with black bars on the top and bottom... Please stick with 16:9, that means MORE fullscreen real-estate for 99% of viewers. Tall smartphone users can simply just zoom in to fit screen. We cant do that on a pc.

I've ridden an R3 twice now, both times at Yamaha demo events. The first time I enjoyed it quite a bit. The second time, I got a false neutral on just about every single 1-2 shift during the ride. Not sure if it was just something with that bike or what...did you have any issues with that? Either way I might consider the R3 as a replacement for my cb300f for the wind protection factor alone. Looking forward to the Ninja 400 and 450L reviews, keep up the good work!
@92Cuky_
@92Cuky_ 2 жыл бұрын
It's probably a late answer, but still... After owning my 2019 R3 for a bit over 3 years now I use to get more false neutrals when shifting from 1st to 2nd when I am wearing normal running shoes for example. They are quite a bit more flexible than my riding boots so I assign that as the reason for those missed shifts. When I am riding with my boots I have no problems with hitting neutrals.

These bikes are mean't and built for the European market. In Europe we have different motorcycle classes, A1, A2 and A. A1=15hp max, 125ccm max. License at 16 years old. A2= 47,5hp max, unlimited ccm. License at 18 years old. A= unlimited hp, unlimited ccm. License at 20 if you took A2 when you were 18. Otherwise its 24 year old. That is why we have bikes that are low ccm and low hp. I see all the comments being like, "its too underpowered and it hasen't got enough hp. These bikes are aimed specifically for the European market and new motorcyclist in countries like America. Complaining about power on these bikes is stupid. The manufactures are trying to make these bikes as fast and good as possible under 47hp. If you want faster bikes and live in America, go for the R6 or other bikes with 100hp.

@@AST4EVER ZX25R is purpose built to be powerful and will absolutely double the price tag of the bikes in the same cc range. Different breed of bike. Don't get me wrong, as a 400 owner I'd love 50+ hp at the wheel, but on these bikes it's high, pushing them to 55-60+ turns them into ticking time bombs for far too much outlay.
@AST4EVER
@AST4EVER 4 жыл бұрын
@@DenvarShay i think 50hp is feasible, 1000 cc bikes makes around 240hp on track, thus 60hp can be squeezed out from a 250cc bike. Now i don't ask them to give us 60hp, even 50 will do. What manufacturers are doing is making parallel twins in quarter litre segment, they haven't ever tried inline 4 since ages. Kawasaki tried in past and they are trying it now again, I'm positive that it will make around 50. And nobody revs to the limit in daily commute but yea in the "green zone" the power delievery will be smooth and quick, and that will be fun 😜
@DenvarShay
@DenvarShay 4 жыл бұрын
@@AST4EVER Yup, if the price is right and they ship them to New Zealand I'll be picking up a 25R, my whole thing is, these small bikes don't make a great deal of power, but they do teach a great deal to those who learn to ride them well. And compared to beginner bikes of the past, are absolutely capable enough.

@atech9020

I own a 2014 Ninja 300 and my buddy had the first year R3 ( 2015 I believe ). My Ninja was quicker than the R3! They both had about the same top speed too ( roughly 110-115MPH depending on altitude and weather ). The R3 to me was a little cramped and forced you to sit more upright ( I'm 5'8" ) while the Ninja 300 allowed you to sit pretty much how you wanted. To me, the Ninja had a more proper feeling ( felt more sportbike like ) suspension while the R3 had a more bouncy/springy feeling. The Ninja had one BIG issue though. I could feel the chassis flex and the effects of that if you are being a bad rider. The R3 has a much stiffer chassis and I didn't notice its flex nearly as much. I think this is why riders like the R3 more; they feel more secure with the reduced chassis flex. The Ninja 300 also has one other major issue with the cheap lose ball steering head bearings. I replaced the loose ball bearings with a tapered roller bearing and it is much smoother and tactile now. The chassis flex is still there, but that is more a problem of being a bad rider. The R3 has a similar steering head bearing set, but the chassis stiffness really helps its mid-corner composure. Power wise, they are so close it doesn't matter. They are both quick enough to have more than enough fun and fast enough to scare you. I came from a 600cc 2005 R6 and I initially thought the Ninja 300 would be underwhelming and poor performing, I couldn't have been more wrong. I love my Ninja 300 and it is every bit as much fun as my R6. It is not nearly as quick and fast, but it is still quick enough and fast enough to get you into trouble. I LOVE the look of the new R3 and I love the look of the Ninja too. It is pretty simple really, pick a bike and a color, you can't go wrong.

I think that the $ 6 000.00 Motorcycle plays a big role in today family budged. How do you explain to the wive that you need a motorcycle that cost more than the Family Toyota Camry SE, with tinted windows and air-conditioner / heating automatic, ABS, ASR, CDA, MSW, a 4 Cylinder 2.4 l turbo engine, accident protective side, fromnt and back bars, a roof crash protection, a 12 speaker BOSE full stereo, alloy wheels, fog-lights, Xenon headlights, LED Blinkers, rear lights inc license plate light ,a 18 curtain airbag system, and a Moon Roof and many more. Oh that would be a discussion worth anyway. I really think that the 6 T Motorcycles are the sound barrier in the most of the families today. Motorcycles above that price Tag are for old sucker retirees that wanna play young again, or for kids that shop with grannies checkbook. Everyone else have to buy used suff anyway

When I started thinking about getting a road bike, I was sure I wanted the G310R. Looked good, & a BMW for$5400. But I was on the fence about actually buying even after going to check out in person. I have to say the dealer experience at BMW was pretty terrible. The basically pointed out where it was located and then ignored me. Then I went to look at the R3. Oh man did it look cool in that matte black. I get a hands on salesman. I straddle the bike and he says, ok I will hold it steady, put your feet on the pegs. As soon as I did that, I said.....well you just sold a bike. It felt like it was made for me. Now I haven't ridden it yet, but I will be getting it in a few month.

My neighbor had R1. He died in motorcycle accident about 10 years ago, ironically not with his bike, with some other bike… He was 29, left 2 young kids and wife. And that scared me then to get a bike, I’m 27 now and still scared to get a bike..

I got my license last autumn, so spent all winter looking at what bike I should get this spring as my first. This is looking very interesting although we used mt/fz07 at my school. Good insurance as well for me. 250 dollars a year. Would it feel really small compared to the MT07? I’m looking to take some track days as well to improve my skills so maybe this is perfect with that and some weekend rides out and about just having fun.
