I'd rather be hit driving a vehicle this size and roll, than be driving a tiny shit box and die instantly. I was in a GMC truck that flipped going 90km/h (55mph) and walked away... so, roll overs aren't so bad as long as you're wearing your seat belt.

Agreed. What worries me now with late models is sunroofs. I don’t see any crash and rollover tests with the sunroof options even though many trims now come with sunroof as standard. I’m thinking that will crumple and shatter during a rollover accident.

@@NadyaPena-01 That is true, I didn't even think about that. It is a pretty big slab of glass, rather than a metal roof. There will be glass everywhere. If you roll one, close your eyes and hold your breath. haha.

@@NadyaPena-01 Sunroofs are treated as if they were metal roofs on many vehicles. GM specifically requires that the sunroof be able to support the weight of the vehicle (if it’s upside down) without shattering. IIHS also tests many vehicles with sunroofs at 3 times the vehicles weight and many of them shatter but still hold in one piece (they’re laminated like the windshields) if you want even more reassurance, check out the Volvo XC90 being rolled, all of the windows stayed in place.

@@NadyaPena-01 I remember a few years ago seeing a statement put out by GM basically stating that their vehicles were going to be transitioning to laminated glass not only for the windshield, but for the 4 side door windows as-well. GM was basically warning that while this move was made to help increase survival in rollovers and everyday crashes, the change would make vehicles harder to escape from should you get yourself into a situation where the car is filling with water. They basically said any window breaking tool will fail to puncture the glass on a GM vehicle made after 2011 and warned consumers to only put their effort into breaking the rear glass as that will now be the only window that will shatter on impact so you can safely climb out of the vehicle. Since then many car manufacturers (especially the luxury brands) have transitioned to laminated glass except for the rear window. Most brands now market this new glass as “Acoustic Glass” since it also helps make the interior quieter as it is thicker.

@@alexs3187 If GM sucked so bad this Tahoe wouldn’t be outselling the Ford contender. Ford fans are so jealous of GM and the products they’re pushing out that it’s hilarious. The way the passenger compartment handled the impact is what’s more important - not exactly the fact it rolled over as a result which is nearly unavoidable in crashes of this type with vehicles this high off the ground. But we’ll just blame it on the fact “GM sucks so bad” that they can’t even keep these Tahoes on lots long enough to need a wash.

That new independent rear suspension terminated the sway bar...thats why it flips. Okay so I did look...there IS an anti roll bar...HOWEVER...it just doesn't work...at all. The S R A kept it on the ground.

@@BBT609 , I agree completely! The proportions of the new Tahoe/Suburban trio of vehicles have hideous proportions. The previous ones looked solid and planted on the ground whereas the new ones look awkward, tippy, and top-heavy. The Tahoe in particular has awful wheel to body proportions both from the side and the rear views with the wheels being too far from the back of the vehicle and set too far inside the fenders. I think we’re going to start seeing them tipped over.

The thing is the test is individual to see how the car itself reacts, if they used another car it would have to be used always against other cars. Since the Tahoe por example, will perform differently agains a Polo and a F-150, so the results would be inconsistent

Because the crash test is scoring how well the vehicle protects the actual human occupants bodies that are inside of the vehicle, it’s not scored based on how much body work the vehicle may need afterwards or how badly it scratches up the ground.

its because its a large SUV, almost all SUVs are top heavy. With safety ratings, they usually compare cars in the same class. For this instance, the Chevy tahoe to the Ford Expedition, BMX X7, Mercedies GLS etc.

Reading all of the comments, I'm going to guess that nobody noticed that when the sled hit the Tahoe, it pushed the drivers side down in such a way, that both of the right side tires came off the ground. When the right side tires came back down, they grabbed the ground and with the momentum of the crash still pushing the Tahoe sideways and the front wheels turned, it caused it to roll on it's side. That can happen to any vehicle under the same circumstances. The Tahoe did it's job and protected the passengers from serious physical injury and will do the same for anyone else, as long as you are wearing your seatbelts too. Maybe the sled didn't hit all of the other vehicles you were talking about so low to pitch the right side up like it did here, or maybe the tires on the others slid instead of grabbing. I am wondering why the front wheels turned though. Maybe the steering column wasn't locked straight and the impact caused them to turn

إذا كنت طالب جامعي على سبيل المثال و تبغى سياره عملية اعتماديه على مدى 5 سنوات بالكثير و توديك و تجيبك من النقطة أ إلى النقطة ب فاااا الياباني أفضل خيار لك... و لكن الياباني مشكلة أنه خرج عن الخطه القديمه اللي كان يمشي عليها أنه كان يعطيك سيارة رخيصة عملية في متناول اليد، و صار الحين غالي و قطع الغيار "الأصلية" غالية و مبالغ في سعرها... الحين ب قيمة كورولا أشتري شبح مستعمل . ⚠️ إذا ب تشتري سيارة يابانية لا تفكر إلا في فئة السيدان الصغير إلى الكبير ⚠️ الألماني - قديماً كان الألماني يصنع سيارات ذات الجودة الأعلى التي لا مثيل لها و كانت سيارت الألمان فخمة و فاخرة جداً و ذات جودة عالية جداً جداً من كل النواحي سواءً مكينة و ميكانيك أو حتى الداخلية و الخامات المستخدمة فيها... كانت من اعتماديتها كان ما تعرفشيء إسمه صيانه دوريه بس دق سلف و امشي و عادي جداً تمشي كل سنه 200 ألف كيلوا متر على مدى 20 سنه قدام بدون أي مشاكل تذكر، و بعد حقبة الشبح كانت نهاية الشركات الألمانية في صناعة مركبات ذات تحمل و جودة عالية و اعتماديه... و صارت السيارات الألمانية حساسه وصار لازم تسوي صيانه عند الوكالة أو عند كراج مختص، بدل ما كانت كاملة من كل النواحي "و الكمال لله". . ⚠️ السيارات الألمانية أو بالأصح الشركات الألمانية ما عاد تصنع سياراتها ب نفس الجودة العالية التي كانت في السابق ⚠️ ماذا عن الموديلات التي ظهر عليها عيوب مصنعيه و سنتحدث عن شفروليه تاهو - سوبربان تحديداً اكثر الموديلات اللي كان فيه عيوب مصنعيه من 2007 إلى 2014 من بعدها جاك موديلات من 2015 إلى 2020 اللي صار فيها تحسين للجودة بعد ما كانت GM على وشك الإفلاس يوم نزلوا الجيل الثالث من التاهو و اليوكن... فاااا قالو نزلوا الموديل سريع سريع للأسواق بعدين نهتم للجودة و فعلاً الجيل الثالث من التاهو موديل 2013 كان تحسين الجودة فيه ملحوظ... لكن عينك على الموديل الجديد صارت ب كل صراحة جودة الديكورات الداخلية و الخامات المستخدمة فيها أقل ما يقال عنها أنها ذات جودة عالية جداً بعد تجربة ل تاهو / سوبربان 2021 -202‪2 والله يا عليه متانة "ما شاء الله تبارك الله" هذا ما اعتدناه من شفروليه تاهو - سوبربان على مر التاريخ... و لكن هذا الجيل عليه كم إضافة أشوف أنها ما تناسبه،أو بالأصح ليتهم احتكروها على فئات معينة على فئات تاهو : 1-المقصات: أشوف لو كانت اختياريه ب يكون شيء ممتاز زي فئة PREMIER - HIGH COUNTRY الخ... و الفئات الأخرى ليتهم خلوها على الدفرنس خصوصاً على فئة z71 بما أنها النسخة الأصلية من تاهو كونها الفئة الوحيدة التي حملت هوية تاهو الأصلية على أن تكون مركبة الدفع الرباعي 4x4 للطرق الوعرة، و فئات أخرى مثل اللي تجينا في الخليج زي ال LS - LT مناسبة للي يبحث عن شكل و ارتفاع فئة z71 على مواصفات LT - LS. 2- القير الازارير عندي مشكلة مع القير، و المشكلة هي طريقة استعماله... حرفياً صار الواحد يعاملها معاملة سيدان ياباني، عكس القير العلاق اللي كان له هيبه وقت التبديل من ال P إلى D، كان له طعم خاص ليتهم اهتموا في تطويره بدل ما يضيفون شيء العميل أو مالك التاهو لم يعتد عليه... ولا القير في تبديل الغيارات سهل و سلس و سريع في التبديل من الآخر. السيارة من ناحية الجودة ممتازه و كان لي تجربه معها جودتها في الديكورات أقل ما يقال عنها أنها ذات جودة عالية، و تماسك الديكورات تحسن ب شكل ملحوظ و صار جودة تماسك ديكورات عالية بكل صراحة... و الحين يجي واحد يقول :التاهو كيف اعتماديته؟ التاهو ما هو جديد على السوق على شان نقول هل هو اعتمادي أم لا... من ناحية الميكانيك و المحركات نفسها مستخدمه في الأجيال السابقة من تاهو. أنت تتكلم عن مكينة مستمرة منذ 1993 يعني من الجيل الأول و لازالت تكرف و تكد و تقطع مسافات طويلة بدون أي مشاكل و حتى لا سمح الله لو خربت تكد و تكرف رغم الظروف الصعبة. فاااا نعم الموتر بالمجمل اعتمادي جداً و ما اوفيه حقه لو امدح ل بكره بكل صراحة الجيل هذا صلحوا كل العيوب اللي كانت في الأجيال السابقة، و خربوها بالمقصات و شكل القير الزراير 🙂 حلول المقصات من وجهة نظري بسيط و مكلف مادياً وهو : ترهيم دفرنس تاهو أو سوبربان 1500 😐هذا هو الحل اللي توصلت له، لا تتوقع أكثر من كذا. هذا والله أعلم... و صل الله على نبينا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم تسليما كثيرا 🌹 و شكراً 🙂👍
