Just finished install and it turned out killer but now my rear electric trunk wont open/close haha any reason as to why the trunk would be affected by installing the hitch and trailer wiring ?? Thanks in advance

I figured it out…I’m gonna leave this comment here because im sure someone else is going to run in to the same problem… if you leave the liftgate open throughout your install, after about an hour the liftgate will remain open and the buttons will not work, you have to manually close the liftgate to reset the sensor for it.. I found that out in the owners manual and I thought I was going to have to take it to the dealership haha these new cars are crazy.

This is absolutely Correct and applies to all automatic lift gates. They always need to be manually closed to reset themselves! Great Job!

Would you recommend unhooking the battery first before unpluging tailights ?

The negative termainal of the battery is removed when cutting or splicing constant 12v power wires to prevent sparks and shorting of fuses. Plugging and unplugging connectors poses no threat to the Vehicle unless you do it while the taillights are illuminated by the presence of electricity. If nothing is on then nothing can spark, or blow a fuse. The electricity does not leave the power distribution panel until you turn on the lights, or indicate a turn signal, or depress the brakes, etc! You are Welcome to Disconnect the Battery. In your case its only memory functions you will lose. But newer EV's can have issues after disconnecting ground.

I have had two bad experiences with U-Haul hitch instalation. I need a professional who is you or traind by you to use the same amount of care as you do! Disappointed with training. Never should a vehicle be used as a first off with a newly trained employee. Especially when it involves such work as tail light removal, hanging an exhaust and using tape to protect finish. Are you in south Florida? I would pay more for the peace of mind that someone of your caliber was going to do the job.

Dumb question but after install can the center bumper facia be put back on covering the hitch?

Yes, it is designed that way.

You didn't install the wiring for trailer lights?!? Im in Millington New Jersey and need a reputable U-Haul installer . Those moldings never go back on like factory. I will pay for quality service. Please advise.

Yes, This Hitch Fits the 2021-2024 Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, and the 4xe with a factory trim panel in the bumper. In this instance the Altitude trim level doesnt change the available hitches.

I would be able to direct you to some in my area as well even before I could do your install(I'm Not a hitch center). My old 2019 grand Cherokee the install was simple. Is this one more complicated because of the rack or because of the jeep? I only need it for a bike rack, not towing anything behind.

This hitch is a OEM style hitch that hides behind the bumper knockout for the Redesigned 2021-2024 Grand Cherokee and Grand cherokee L. The hitch you likely installed for the 2011-2021 Grand Cherokee is a aftermarket part and wouldnt be able to be installed on the redesigned Grand Cherokee. OEM style is the only hitch option for this Vehicle.
