I've own the latest A3 sedan for a month and I must say it's defintely a better drive than my previous similar german make of the same class. The mild hybrid system really makes the start/stop to be unnoticeable. The other same segment german makes have no mild hybrid system yet. The paddle shifters make it more engaging to drive.

In Audis, to overtake, you can just use the S mode on the gear lever. It goes into sporty transmission mode (just like when u switched to Dynamic drive select). And then switched it back to whatever mode you were driving before. I only use drive select to fully switch my driving mood, where it will also change the steering wheel stiffness, suspensions, etc, depending on the car.

Having own the new A3 sportback for 1 month now , it definitely drives better than its direct competitors like the 1 series and A class 。。。 Great stuff 👍🏻 Able to achieve 16km/l with 40% highway 60% traffic

Funny...in Europe, US & Middle East, driving an Audi doesn't mean one is successful. It just says that you have a car. Guess it's in our Asian mentality.

This seems a significant step up from the previous A3. The last one didn't even have the center armrest in the back nor Carplay. Weird Gearknob still though 😂
@KivaEmperor3 жыл бұрын
Build quality is a significant step down. If you try the old and new A3 back to back, the differences are even more glaring. VW turned the A3 from a very premium compact car into literally a rebadged Golf. The interior is more suitable on a Golf than an A3.
@jansenwilder13353 жыл бұрын
The review will be better when you highlight other cars that competes against the A3, I would bring up another European car , the Skoda Octavia which have almost the same turbo engine performance yet with a close challenge against the A3.

Can I suggest that you guys talk about the FC that you guys achieved in your days of driving the cars? We all know that the official FC in the spec sheets are always not accurate and reflective of real life driving, and FC can be a big consideration factors for some car buyers.

Owned the previous 8V A3 sedan with the 1.4 TFSI engine and conventional gear lever. When the gear was put in D (Normal driving mode), the gear could be shifted down once and it will engage in S (Sport mode) right away, without the need to switch the drive mode using drive select. This was one of my favourite features of the car since it allows me to overtake and pull away almost instantaneously. Just curious if if is still the same mode of operation for this new generation of A3?
@ivanng2543 жыл бұрын
It's still the same. :)

Thanks for the review. I think if value for money is an important consideration, go for the Korean make KIA Stonic mild hybrid. More safety features at 2/3 of the Audi price. After all cars are depreciating assets. Honestly, we are, paying more for the brand. Features wise the Koreans are top.

went to test the sportback version, disappointing in terms of specs in SG. No ambient light, plastic-ky interior, old gen steering wheel...tested the new golf and it was so much better. Unless one wanted to buy it cos of the Audi badge, it is not worth it.
