Thank you for those that have pointed out the S3 is Quattro…. I genuinely believed that the S3 was front wheel drive (like the Golf GTi) and then RS3 was Quattro 🤯 mind blown.

I would just describe the SQ2 as a taller and more expensive S3. I guess some would go for the SQ2 cos of more ground clearance than the S3.

Depending on the generation, the 4wd is a front biased Haldex system.

I have to say Tish this must be one of the best balanced reviews that I've seen in a while. I have to agree there does seem to be some penny pinching all over the place compared to it's VAG siblings. I great car but I'm not too sure those four rings on the bonnet justify the extra cost option equipment that should in my uneducated view be standard. No rear armrest at this price does seem a tad odd. Keep up the great work.

For the price, no heated seats? No USB ports or arm rest in the back? "Lacking in equipment" -- true! But really blazing fast. Excellent review. (FYI, the "OG" in the US would be the Q3. We do not get the Q2. ) Still loving that accent: "a classic late Novembah day."

Great video as always, Tish! I get the point of the SQ2, but I much prefer the previous generation S3 compared to this. I actually much prefer the old MMI system over the new touchscreen system, as it’s easier to use while driving. I hate how the Soundaktor speaker sounds like an I5, but it adds some character. Manual seats are an issue - I spent $63k on a Defender that doesn’t even have power seats. Ridiculous.

As a former S3 owner, you've got to have chrome exhausts on the back - and you have to keep those loudspeakers polished regularly too!!

Being a absolute lover of apple car play no touch screen is actually a big issue in this day in age, although a beautiful car I think the VW T-Roc is a better option for me

You’ll pay a premium for an suv over the hatch variant and with the older A3 interior in this it’s just not worth the money compared to the new S3. I had a Q2 edition 1 1.4 in 2017. I now have a bmw M135i and I’m paying less per month for that than I did for the Q2

Check out the plug in rav4 over 300 hp 0 to 60 time 5 .5 and AWD and you can include massage and air cool 😎 front drivers seat and over 100mpg and a proper off roader

This just looks like an A3 with a slightly raised ride height (not a criticism just an observation). But I don't get the hatred crossovers receive, if you want something that's a little easier to get in and out of, then why not? The only gripe I'd have with this thing is the engine, and it's a deal-breaker I'm afraid. 300 ponies from a 2.0 4 cylinder engine just screams a lot of strain on a small engine and if you drive it spiritedly, it'll soon start developing problems. No thanks. Been there. I really don't understand this obsession with downsizing engines from the industry as a smaller engine working harder will consume more fuel than a bigger engine working moderately hard for the same performance. But it's a beautiful car with gorgeous lines and angles everywhere. Lastly is the adaptive dampers. There has been a lot of effort by the premium German brands to bring the price range down to more affordable levels, but it's all BS. If you want the full fat experience you still have to pay. There's no point in cutting corners. Good review, thanks!

When Audi axes the A1 in a few years, the cheapest Audi you’ll be able to buy in Europe, Australia, Mexico, etc. will be the Q2. The A3 will remain the cheapest Audi in the US and A and Canada, since the A1 and Q2 aren’t sold in those two markets.

This doesn’t compete with the tiguan R. It’s the T-Roc R.

@@johnguidetti5839 Check the prices! An SQ2 that has any options in it will cost about £45k, which is the price of a fully loaded Tiguan R. You can get a fully loaded T-Roc R for less than a base SQ2!

The configurator is open to spec. Dunno how a Tiguan R fully loaded is 45 when it starts from 48k base lol. Or a T- Roc R. Just making it up as you go along.

@@johnguidetti5839 The Tiguan R starts at £48,540 and has all the features I’ve listed. You can very easily spec your SQ2 to that price by ticking the “Vorsprung” box and you still don’t get those items. That’s without ordering options.

@@AutoSocialUK Main reason for RS3 is the 5 cylinder! but yea S3 is equivalent of Golf R and I prefer the chrome tips! Was surprised how very similar it is on the interior to my 2014 S3
