Thanks for the comparison video. Like you said. The Aventon Aventure was made more to look sleek and a true ebike. Nothing just slapped on. Different sizes and different color scheme makes a big difference for different size of riders. If money isn’t a problem then I think why not get the Aventure it just an overall better ebike.

I turned my Rad twist throttle into a DIY thumb throttle simply by attaching an old, semi-flexible plastic snap-fit tire pump mount around it. Works fantastic, and was free! I have lots of spare bike parts like this laying around that would do the trick. But basically anything that can be securely clamped around your thumb-throttle and has a tab of some sort to push on will probably work. If you don't have any such parts, swing by the local bike shop -- they might give you a spare one for free.

Class II vs Class III. The Hemingway is a Class III bike. The Aventon ships as a Class II bike and can be changed to a Class III (up to 28 mph using peddle assist) via the app. The Class II designation is important as some states/areas do not consider a Class II bike to be a motorized vehicle, which can give you greater access to trails and other areas, especially hunting areas. That’s a big deal for people who are looking to primarily ride off-road. Hemingway is a Class III, which you can’t ride on many trails or other areas.

It only took me 6 mos to see a video that said what it was for lol- but wow what a difference it made. If you don’t use it your light goes into your fender. It's just to make sure the customer 'does' send the non-working part overall. With the explosion of the HImiway popularity, some parts are getting hard to find, thus customers have to wait for several of them now! "Death Trap" is how I describe my experience on the Aventure. I received it, assembled it and went one block. As I tried to turn, my toes interfered with the front tire almost causing me to crash. The distance from the pedal to the tire (even without the fender installed) was about 1.5 inches. The tire and pedals are so close that my toes were hitting the tire when I tried to turn. Now, I agree that it is possible to ride the bike with your foot carefully placed so your toes do not extend beyond the front of the pedal. But with big feet, like mine, or wet pedals where your feet might slide forward, or the tiniest lack of concentration, your toes can interfere with the tire and possibly cause an accident. This is, in my opinion, an inherently dangerous design. I think the pedal to tire distance should be far enough that a rider is not likely to injure him or herself in normal riding.

You mentioned that the Aventon battery is built into the frame, so that means you can't simply remove the battery and take it into your home to charge it. This is important to me, as I live in a condo and don't have a garage. One thing you didn't mention nor compare was the travel distance, but for traveling at a higher speed, the Himiway appears to hit 30+ mph on a flat street using throttle only, whereas it appears that the Aventon is regulated and will not travel faster than 20 mph in throttle only mode. When you consider that the Aventon: Cannot travel as far as a Himiway on a full charge; Has a top speed that is 33% slower than the Himiway, Does not come with a nice rear rack and costs $300 more than the Himiway....I've made my choice and am glad I ordered the Himiway, though the Aventon appears to be a very nice alternative. Thank you so much for providing the comparison, along with all of your other support videos.

The batteries on these ebikes will most likely only have a useable life of 3-4 years, I would like to know the cost of replacing the batteries on these ebikes? I have not watched a video of an ebike reviewer that has addressed this issue. I think that this could be useful information in a decision between to close competitors.

Replacement batteries are listed on each webpage so RadPowerbikes is $549 directly from seller, Himiway is $550, Aventon is $478. So all within a similar price range.

i have an prodeco oasis ebike that i bought new in 2013, 48 volt 12 amp hour, after 8 years the battery still works fine, never ever kill the battery just to see how far you can go

I have the himiway and I like it. But the more I look at the aventon I might sell my himiway and get one. 3 main reasons frame size, bafang motor and if I am not mistaking a rear cassette vs a freewheel on the himiway. But I only paid 1449 for my himiway 1899 is a lot more money for 100 more I think I would go with a mid drive sondors lx! Great video I liked this comparison video!

If you know someone that is or was in the service you can get $189 off. I paid $1709 out the door. I have a Himiway and there is no comparison get the aventure.

Looking to purchase my 1st bike. Torn between these two and the radrover 5. Is the aventon upgradable like the rad? I can see whatever i get i wouldnt keep in "stock" form for very long.
@CitizenCycle9253 жыл бұрын
most upgrade able is the Rad5, if you plan on changing batteries, controller, motors etc. then Rad is your bike.

I have the Aventure, the throttle and pedal assist delay are terrible on this bike, it needs to have a "throttle sensitivity adjustment" in the app, lectric has it on their display adjustments it needs to be added

Question about the Himiway, I can't seem to find any info on this is it okay to ride in the rain? I've been caught in rain storms before and I don't want to be suddenly riding a dead bike. I hear the Lectric XP 2 is pretty waterresistant but I can't find anything on the Himiway bikes.
@CitizenCycle9253 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure of the Himiway's IP rating, but I wouldn't ride it in a downpour, You're probably fine in a late rain shower but I'm guessing you wouldn't want the bike getting absolutely soaked. I actually carry a rain poncho in my pack in case I need to throw it over the bike like a tent.

Hi CitizenCycle Do you have a problem with the Aventon Aventure power button? A lot of people complaining not very responsive? Any comments? I love your channel, very good education and information. More power to your channel. Thank you

Are you talking about the power button on the battery or the one on the controller that turns on the display?
@rogerf36223 жыл бұрын
Good point Robbie. Some users forget to push the power button on the battery first and then the power button on the handlebars.
@leon650guinto33 жыл бұрын
Hello Everyone The power button that I am talking about is with the battery. The complaint was not consistently turning on. It take several attempts to turn it on. Sometimes you need to push the whole side of the battery panel to make it work. Thank you for the comments.
@dexsj773 жыл бұрын
Most people will try to push too hard and hold the button down. All it takes is a quick gentle push and it comes on.. you can damage it by pushing too hard.

Aventon's bikes are ✨clean✨ Even the Paces where the battery sticks out still look great. If you end up getting a Level, get a small frame so we can compare the frame sizes? & it would be neat to see your wife next to both frames. I'm debating between a Pace 500 and a Level, but this is a fantastic bike too. A little too thicc for my living space though.

Thanks for the video. One you don't hear much about is the service. Himiway service can be trying at times. Support is from China by email. Video and pictures help. The warranty was honored, but you have to wait for parts. Adventon Support?

I am a just under5'2" woman. Do you think I could fit on the himiway?

I'm guessing your feet would barely touch the ground. When sitting on the seat you would probably have to lean to one side and put just one foot down

in my opinion Ebikes should be tested/ridden before buying. buying on line blind is not a good idea. also a local will fix any problems a lot faster.
