When i bought my Himiway they have a $50 coupon - rear bike rack also for free a tool kit -fenders-lights (Front & Back) a very nice cell phone holder - a metered bike pump (foot pump) - Total price was $1349 and a bigger battery - haven`t gone over 30 miles and still had plenty of juice left - i hardly ever use throttle just pedal assist and like Citizen said the ability to climb hills is effortless and maintains 16-20 mph up hill. I never changed the settings because i am very satisfied by the performance it is set at - maybe down the road but for now its great ! Customer service was very good and that is usually hard to come by. Himiway gets a A + from me :-)

My husband got a Rad Rover 5 and I got a Himiway ST. We were really impressed with the quality of Himiway and its a beast. Unfortunately, I had to sell it just after 2 weeks and ordered myself a Rad Runner Plus. The reason I sold my Himiway was the bike was too big and the Step Thru was tight. I'm 5'4" tall so I really struggled to stop and need to tiptoe. I worry all the time when I ride especially when I have to stop at the light or etc. Now after waited for 4 1/2 months, finally got my Rad Runner Plus and I glad I sold my Himiway. Now I enjoy and feel more confident to ride and no worry. I can say from my experience with Himiway - its a really solid bike and good quality. Their customer service was really superb. Its a pity Himiway they dont have many design and choices. Thats my opinion as my husband love his Rad Rover 5.

The reason the tires on the Himiway are quieter is that the center row of knobs are close together. Therefore they do not have a gap to fall into and hitting harder between knobs making the road noise. They may be more aggressive on the outer edge but on hard roads the center of the tire is where it rides the most.

The big difference to me is Himiway sounds like an honest company unlike RadRover, just add a Bolton controller and you’d be good to go. Why RadRover hasn’t been sued yet for calling there motor a 750w. when it’s a 500 W. Is beyond me.
@seriouskite4 жыл бұрын
"TRUE" " air quotes" that! Any other company/industry, total recall. Loophole is probably puts out a maximum of 750W from the mislabeled, deceptive Bafang 500W. A True 750W puts out Maximum over 1000W. Bryan's performance comparison up next will be FUN! One would think a Fan-boy/girl of Rad or official from Rad would speak up. I've searched, deafening silence...........crickets, oh wait I meant North Carolina Cicadas.

That whole opinion was presented by a competitor, who is not an engineer or an electrician. I'm an actual engineer, and the Bafang geared hub motor Rad handles a full 750 watts all day, and delivers 80 nm of torque as promised. Last week I tested the motor from a RadMini 4, and it handled 1,185 watts fine. The owner rode the bike for 47.38 miles, had fun climbing 28% grades and doing dirt burnouts, but asked to have it reset to stock because it was too aggressive.

@@Altema22 "Dirt Burn Outs" ?Amusing "opinion" I'm not an engineer but that comment is very suspicious. There is no low end torque to do such a fancy feat. Anyone who is in the E-Bike game knows this. I don't believe you are an official form RPB, why such an amusing comment? Before this becomes a pissing contest, present evidence of a Rad Mini 4 "burnout". I've ridden 4 different 2020 RPB's, unlimited if I could call it that. I can hold back the bike standing with throttle on, if I squeeze the frame and lift I can get the rear wheel to spin on pavement. NOT a BURNOUT! If you have watched the not so RADical Rover transformation into the Citizen Cycle Bryan confirms the motor is 1/3rdish smaller. Labeled 750W RPB collusion with Bafang and is a TRUE 500 WATT. Now the death blow, game-set-match, nighty night! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXybaHR_nr15prs Kyle at Bolton and Bryan at Citizen saved us from buying this deceptive COLLUSION. Still not a word from RPB, crickets and cicadas, Ride ON and bring (real) game.

It's also really nice to have the lower step thru area. On the Hemi, the step thru is almost as high as a full frame version. It's interesting how much handier the lower step thru on the Rover is. We don't usually ride more than 20 or so miles in a day, and the battery is at half juice or more when we're through, so the Rad battery works fine for us. It also just feels a little more solid than the Hemi. Oh, and the chain channel is nice because it keeps the chain in place, and also helps protect pants legs from getting caught in the chain.

The welds are not cheap, they are not junk, and they are more reasonably priced than almost any other quality ebike. GREAT COMPARISON. Thanks so much for the work you did to make this video. Rad bikes are tried and true, but with companies like Himiway improving the 750w hub motor 26” Fat Bike at that price, I think Rad Power Bikes will have to start doing more to keep market share. Rad Power Bike customer service is touted as one of the best in the industry. So that is where Himiway must do better to compete. Still Amazed Himiway is able to keep the price so low! Either they are running on ultra low profit margins or they cut corners that know one else has figured out and it doesn’t seem to be on the parts. Mmm. Maybe they just don’t spend as much on marketing as their competitors? It was genius of them to send you a bike to do this review. You’ve done the Best advertising I’ve seen so far for them!
@tomriffe17554 жыл бұрын
My impression like most buisineses is that your profit margin is fairly minimal the first few years. They're building the brand so to speak, then, just like Rad did a few weeks ago, they raised the price 100 dollars.

I got my Himiway in August. It's a beast. WAY bigger in person than they look on line. Looked at both bikes, the Himiway was a little easier on my wallet. Some people reported customer service problems early on, but it seems as they've grown they're better able to respond to customers. That's my take on it anyway. Suggestions for new riders: Start in Pedal Assist zero to avoid unwanted acceleration as you're starting out. Don't forget to downshift as you come to a stop, so you're not in high gear when starting up again. WEAR A HELMET...30 mph is FAST on a bicycle.

Here's a tip I just learned from customer service. (I called them and just hung up, no message and they immediately called me back - like immediately - impressive!!!). I was having issues with range only getting 25 to 35 miles on my 1st two rides and my power cutting out when the module was showing almost full power which was not cool. Well customer service recognized immediately it was set to 38V and not 48V in the module settings and had me hold down the Plus, Minus, and Power keys (with the bike off) at the same time to change it to 48 volt. He said this should correct these issues.

Battery capacity makes a $200 difference in favour of Himiway. The discussion of how range generally may be estimated is distracting from the difference between bikes, which is the real purpose of the review.

@rogerf36224 жыл бұрын
Great side-by-side comparison! I noticed if you mount a water bottle on the Himiway it would further obstruct the step through more than the Rad. On the price, its actually $200 more for the Rad once you throw the rear rack on the Rad. For me, I only use pedal assist 1 and the twist the throttle occasionally to supplement the acceleration. I find pedal assist 5 is almost dangerous on the Rad especially on loose sand or gravel as it can cause unexpected tire spin and you can loose control pretty easy. So you’re saying its stronger on the Himiway? Ouch. It appears the 4-bolt spacing for the front rack on the Himiway is different from the Rad so you would have to find a different vendor if you wanted to mount the same bracket as you have on your Rad. What about when you call/email Himiway for questions/issues? Rad seems to have the best customer service I’ve ever seen. I know most people want to know “how fast will it go”. But as an ebike rider, its acceleration that really matters. Considering all these things, $200 is a lot to save for a more powerful ebike. Looking forward to your performance review. Awesome channel.

The power on throttle may seem overpowering on a flat, hard surface. Add a hill, or a still-steeper one, and perhaps a trail or grass, and a heavier rider, and that power could become precious.
@rogerf36224 жыл бұрын
Charlie, I was talking about pedal assist not the throttle. Since these bikes do not have a torque-sensing pedal rotation system, they simply apply a predetermined wattage to the motor once the bike senses pedal rotation. In the case of level 5, when you rotate the pedals, and after a slight delay, it dumps 750w to the motor. The delay is shocking if you’re not paying attention and the delay off is equally shocking. That’s the issue. Having 750w controlled by the throttle is a separate thing and is always appreciated as the rider controls the motor wattage.

There are no true 750 Watt E-bikes from Radpower. The manual states do not draw more than 550 watts for more than a few minutes. The battery is 48 volts and 660 watts so how do you get 750 watts, a faults claim. I do own a Radpower mini. Which I think is a quality E-bike. Have over 3,000 miles with just a change of brake pads. Usually ride where I live in number 2 which is 136 watts and the occasional hill number 3. Radpower makes really good electric bikes and recommend them. I am 76 and ride most days.

Do you know how many charges the Samsung Battery will take before it needs to be replaced...If it can be replaced? The batteries have been showing out of stock on the Himiway site for quite a while now. This bike has a lot of bang for the buck but it's a non starter if you can't get a battery replacement or spare when needed.

Thanks you for pointing out Himiway! I was leaning towards getting a Rad Rover or RR Step Through, but was worried it would be underpowered for the very steep hills near my house. I'd be especially interested to see how the two bikes compare on hill climb. I'm also interested to see how the Himiway compares in hill climb to your upgraded RR. I'm assuming I'll want to upgrade my new RR controller and maybe motor at some point, and I wonder if the Himiway might not require this. That would be another great savings, in addition to the lower price and included rear rack. Thanks for your reviews!

I am an owner and big fan of the Himi until my motor burned out. I have had the bike for about 4 months and just passed 500 miles. Customer service walked me through some tests then told me my motor was no longer working. They asked me to send a video to customer service of the bike and showing no response from motor. I received an email back stating they would cover the replacement however I needed to leave a deposit. Although I wasn’t thrilled about this I spent the $100 for a deposit. This was 2 weeks ago and I have been given a number of excuses as to why they have not sent the replacement out. Sounds like there has been a run on motor replacements and now they are telling me the last order of motors were lost 😒 I am losing my patience and losing valuable fall riding weather.

I wish Rad would update the controllers or at least give us more PAS levels. Sometimes PAS 1 isn't enough and PAS 2 is too much. I can never seem to match my speed and PAS level with my wife's Radcity step-thru. I also wish the PAS button only advance one level only with each press instead of sometimes jumping multiple levels. I sometimes go to PAS 0 or PAS 5 when riding on a bumpy trail when I just want to go up/down one level.
