Jeezus thank you! Yours is the only video that says to hold the BC button at the same time, which is the only way to do it. If you don’t hold the BC button while holding that other button by the gauges, a totally different diagnostic test pops up. Thank you, obviously BMW made it so hard to reset nobody even likes to mess with em unless it’s a BMW shop . . . and there aren’t any in Great Falls!

Yes what other button? Please. Not working for me . 45 minutes to change the pads and then 2 hours on KZbin and holding buttons and still have a brake light on dash

Thanks, saved my ass, tried using my snap on scanner and brand new thinktool scanner and could not do it with either of them but your method worked perfect!!!

If you’re getting “Reset Unsuccessfully” make sure that your electronic parking brake is off. I had mine on and was getting the “Reset Unsuccessfully” message and once I turned off the park brake the reset was successful.

thanks for the reminder on my 2022 M5, they make it annoying to reset the oil and vehicle check, you would think it's on the iDrive screen.

For anyone having issues not being able to get the reset menu once in diagnostics mode on. Guessing you have the lower end display cluster. Use the "0.0" button on the left bottom of the cluster. Hold it until the reset menu comes up and hold again to make a selection.

Mine has a main menu pop up that has several options that include information, system test, chassis dyno. I dont get the normal reset option. Any idea whats wrong with mine? Trying to reset brake pad alert

Once the diagnostic sign pops up wait 5 seconds and then hold down the bc botton

You didn't entire "Diagnostic Mode". Press the Start button 3 times within 0.8 seconds. The menu you accessed pops up in normal mode, when you hold BC in.

Do you have to change brakes to reset? Can a shop say they did and not by just resetting?

You could just look at the actual brakes yourself to see if they’ve changed or not

I got the notification my brake pads need changing and my check engine light turned on later that day with no faults on my iDrive. Could that be linked?

Tip if it does not reset and say “reset unsuccessful “ on the brake drive it for 1/2 mile then try if had 2 now that wouldn’t reset but then will after a drive

If you get an menu that pops up that says “identification, chassis dyno”, restart the whole process. Press the start button three times, hold down the BC button until you see diagnostic mode appear on the bottom of the screen, let go of the BC button and wait 5 seconds, hold the BC button down again and it’ll bring up the option to reset oil light. If resetting was unsuccessful, repeat the while process again and hold down the break for the whole process after you hit the start button three times.

Hit the ignition button 3 times then I hit the BC button until REAR BRAKE Pads Reset Possible came up then let go of BC and Pushed and Held until Rest brake pads 900 mi Reset?. Then let go of BC and pushed it back down and held until BRAKE PADS 900 mi RESET? let go of BC then pushed and held it down and it starts resetting but comes up reset unsuccessful?

If it says “reset unsuccessfull” try with the brake down. It worked for me

I've reset my front and rear brake pad sensors after changing the pads. Used geniune sensors and now the sensors are not showing in the idrive

brakes went down at 18K miles!?? you must drive hard to wear them down already. I own a 540i 2021 with 27K miles and have yet to do any brakes

My 2021 X3 has 33K when the service notification came on. Does it actually measure brake lining or come on at a preset mileage point?

I think there is a material piece missing because it hasbt worked on a 2022 x3 yet. I have wasted 20 min watching videos. I think the screen can't be on odometer.
