Even for the Denali, tons of features, but you don’t use most of it all the time. The Denali is a great vehicle and massively spacious. I just couldn’t be bothered to spend over 25k more to get more tech. Escalade is more looks and tech. Cadillac has always been just another general motors with nicer sheet metal and all the bells and whistles. Sometimes I don't even like the sheet metal/body styling more on the Caddy. At this point all of these cars are so loaded that equipment is not an issue for me. Cadillac is great for making an impression at the golf course, business complex parking lot, or out in front of the casino. It's basically a Chevy/GMC with a bunch of "hey look at me" grill work and extra lights. My basic rule of thumb on the luxury level vehicles is if I can get the same engine and transmission in another model, I'll likely take a pass on it or buy it 2-3 years used. The choice is obvious, the Escalade. Fun fact: Close to 60% of all Yukon sales are Denali. Also most Denali owners can easily afford an Escalade but chooses Denali because they don't want to be seen in an Escalade. Both markets are high-end earners. Say if GM don't have Denali for GMC and chose to soften the styling of the Escalade in general but not by much but still bold but elegant looking, IMO more sales volume will go to the Escalade. On average close to 75K-80K volume will be sold annually compared to 37K currently on average for the Escalade.
@user-tb7rn1il3q3 жыл бұрын
johnls39 The buyers are actually high end spenders not high end earners. Most people lease or have long loan terms to make them affordable. You’d be surprised to see how many people in the $60-100k income range are driving $90k cars. They have to impress friends and look rich. Most millionaires drive normal cars like Accords, Camrys, CRVs, RAV4s, etc.
@johnls393 жыл бұрын
@@user-tb7rn1il3q To clarify, I was referring to people who earn on average of $200K-$400K which is the target market for the Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali, not earning seven to eight figures annually. I'm not surprise that anyone under earning buying anything more than their average salary. Personally, I think that is stupid but to each his/her own. Also to be fair, most millionaires and billionaires are not car enthusiasts and most looking for money to appreciate and most of them have that mentality for the reason they don't buy expensive vehicles.

That’s exactly why I bought my Denali. I looked at both, and don’t really like the message the Escalade sends and I can easily afford either, not with a loan or lease. Also fun fact, the GMC dealer I bought from said there are a large percentage of Denali buyers who buy cash. I wouldn’t be surprised if most Escalades are leased.

Cadillac needs to get away from GM or GM needs to make the Escalade completely different from the Yukon and Tahoe because all 3 trucks is the same truck with minor changes. @Nate-zy5ce3 жыл бұрын
They both look great. I'd get either with the white exterior with roof cross rails, and black Denali interior, dark auburn Escalade interior (I'd get the black interior on the escalade too, if it was solid black, but those white piping strips just make it look cheaper). The Escalade is more luxurious, which would be nice, but my concern has to do with the innards of the driving mechanism, it looks to me best I can tell that the Escalade both leaves out some of the AT4/Denali innards, and tunes down what remains for the sake of luxury. And those two things it seems to me make the Escalade too much of a compromise on rougher secondary roads and in bad weather like snow/ice storms. They are both suv's but it seems like the Escalade compromises too much of the suv driving capabilities for the sake of the added luxury experience. One example, the AT4 and Denali both promote the Active Response 4WD System that sends power/torque to any or all of the four individual wheels as needed based on slippage. I can find zero reference to that Active Response 4WD System in the Escalade. It also seems like in the Escalade they eliminated the Traction Control and Hill Descent buttons. You can add the 4W Low to the Escalade if you get the Heavy Duty Towing Option, but it's not clear to me that offers all the functionality that comes with that same feature in the AT4 and Denali. I think to get that 4W Low they add the Electronic ltd slip differential, I think, but not sure what that does other than the 4W Low. I'd be a lot more interested in the Escalade if I could get it with the thicker rubber higher sidewall 275/60/20 tires that come with the AT4, though all season not off road, but all Escalades and all but the lowest Denali come only with the thinner 275/50/22 tires, frustrating. I want some kind of suv driving capability, even if i will not be going "off roading" aggressively, and unless someone can explain otherwise, it appears the Denali retains most or all of the AT4 innards and the Escalade very few, making the Denali better in the suv driving department, a la off roady, poor secondary roads, stormy/snowy weather.
@anthonypsomas11833 жыл бұрын
I’ve had several Escalades.... Each time we got one I cross shopped the Denali. To me the dollar spread wasn’t that great and I preferred the warranty on the Cadillac along with a higher level of dealer service. It’s all a matter of preference and both vehicles are excellent high end large SUV’s. After driving Escalades for over 13 years we finally didn’t need a large size SUV. Kids all drive but we still needed real 4wd and tow. Cadillac wanted me to go into the new Escalade and then we looked at the XT6 ( not 4WD). Ended up with a Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude with a Hemi in it. Pretty nice truck! If Cadillac would take the Colorado/Canyon pickup platform enclose it as a luxury SUV I would buy one in a heartbeat.

From my experience and as per Applewood, the Cadillac that you are driving has the new four corner suspension with magnetic ride called Active 4WD vs that particular Denali. A Denali needs to be upgraded to “Ultimate package” to get that. The suspensions make a noticeable difference and as I understand there is no Denali available in Ontario that has that package yet because of the late availability in GMs Texas plant. Hell, the Escalade even smells more luxurious with its semi aniline leather and Alcantara headliner. Obviously some may not care about that stuff, but those who can actually afford the upgrade typically find those added luxuries and aesthetics more than justify the extra cost. As with anything, you gotta pay to play.

Most people that complain can’t even afford these luxury vehicles. Plus you have to factor insurance and gas. If they had the money they would buy the Escalade but since they can’t all they can say is for that price I would buy a house! Having money is so much fun!

To me, the Denali looks a bit more mature, I really appreciate the slightly “understated” styling compared to the Cadillac. Also, people may find the Escalade’s interior overwhelming.

The actual price comparison of the side by side vehicles are: Escalade ESV 4WD PREMIUM LUXURY - $90,790 2021 YUKON XL DENALI4WD Denali - $83,835 If you add comparable upgrades.

I just let someone else put on the first 9-10K miles and take the depreciation hit. Now you're comparing both trucks at nearly the same price point. That $2K kona brown leather option isn't $2K anymore. Throw in the 6/100K CPO warranty, MUCH better customer service. To me it makes Cadillac the easy winner. This is my take on owning both in the last gen. Had a '15 Denal XL. Went to an '18 Escalade Premium ESV. I literally could not find a Yukon for what I paid for the CPO Escalade with 9k miles on it. Luxury brands take a bigger depreciation hit, Lexus aside. You couldn't pay me to own ANY luxury brand outside of the warranty. Of course most people lease at this price point anyway.

If the GMC just had a better looking steering wheel id pick it over a Tahoe, but the Escalade (& GMC) not only have a TRUCK type mean heavy duty look its luxurious & beautiful.

The only thing I don't care for on the escalade is the taillights. I don't like how they go all the way up to the roof. I love the front end of it tho. The Denali doesn't look bad either but that push button drive system is a deal breaker for me. I hate how car manufacturers are going to that now. Nobody likes it or the stupid turn dial. I don't understand why they keep doing it.

I like the looks of the Yukon Denali! The diesel has amazing gas mileage and seems very appealing for such a large vehicle!

Careful of the diesel. Thought I seen 100k service on belt where engine has to be pulled.

I'm sure you can get the Denali with the blacked out grill, black rims and in black, that should have been the one shown, but that would have shown how much more you would get in beauty with the Yukon for far less.

The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade account for 50% of all large SUV sales in the US. GM makes 340,000 of them every year and exports about 80,000 to 31 countries. They’re made in GM’s plant in Arlington, Texas, which is said to be the most profitable assembly plant in the world. We estimate they generate $20 billion in revenue for GM and about $4 billion in profits. Autoline Daily.

The blackout pkg is worth the difference in price alone. If they offered it on the Denali I’d consider it but It’s the Escalade for me.

I would say I'll take the GMC Yukon Denali XL because the inside of screen of Yukon Denali looks perfect then the Escalade & the seats of Yukon Denali is more comfortable than the Escalade & that's the reason why I choose GMC Yukon Denali XL

I agree the difference in ride is the Escalade has magnetic ride. I still say as an ex GMC Denali owner and current Cadillac Escalade owner the prices of both SUV's is way way too high, these are not six figure cars!!

Great video I'm with you I would rather do denali, if anyone has ever owned one of these newer Cadillacs, you know that all of that fancy tech is not top of the line, and that beautiful screen you'll be lucky if it doesn't need to be repaired within 2 years lol

I believe it’s based on personal preference and their financial situation. However, critiques on features like the AR on the Escalade is a weak point, especially if they rave about it on other vehicles such as Mercedes Benz. Be consistent across the board.
@johnls393 жыл бұрын
Even though the Denali is $20K-$30K cheaper, it is still expensive at $70K USD. Anyone who can afford the Denali can also afford an Escalade easily. It all depends on the styling between the two buyers.

I LIKE the exterior of the Denali better than the Caddy, front to back. But the Caddy wins interior hands down. I would buy the Denali. $20K+ savings for a similarly loaded vehicle? I'll take it. I dont need validation from other people that bad to have to have an Escalade.I like being different anyways.

I prefer the Yukon Denali over the Cadillac Escalade. They both are good looking SUV's but the Yukon is a better bargain. It's not a hard decision at all.
@wilhallman28902 жыл бұрын
Nah, say whatever you want but at the end of the day the Caddy just rides smoother. It's worth the $$$ for not just that but the more unique and sleeker aerodynamics and the interior will hold up better in the long run vs the GMC, not too mention when you go platinum you get features not available in the GMC
@illuminated24383 жыл бұрын
Denali is a synonym for ghetto. The Escalade is far far superior. More tech, finer leather, more comfortable, super cruise, superior stereo. And it looks a hell of a lot nicer.
