2021 DMAX INTERCOOLER UPGRADE 40% LARGER THAN FACTORY

Hey mate, just wanted to see how the car is going now and if it’s worth doing? I have a 2021 BT50 and doing the same thing with towing, haven’t fitted a trans cooler yet but going to and wanted to know if it’s worth doing intercooler at the same time.

hey mate merry Christmas , Phil swears by the intercooler/ trans cooler combo, if your budget only allows the one would definitely pick the trans cooler over the intercooler.. but if you have room to do both its definitely worth doing specially if your going to get yourself a basic towing tune or something in the future Gives the tuner more to work with, not sure how it goes put on a stock dmax as phil got me to do this trans cooler and intercooler together and then it went straight to the tuner. his tranny temps sit at around 70-85 degreees when towing his mdc 13+ and he uses around 11.5 ltrs towing on average ( 13litres on head win and 10ish with tail wind ) when we last spoke about fuel consumption. day to day driving he sits around at 8.5

754 NM! I imagine that's awesome. Can you or (PHIL) do an update with average fuel consumption and any issues with the tune. Great video too. Love the garage. Very clean

I'll send him a messege and get him to reply to this messege The tune was done on a hub dyno so 754nm would be less on a rolling dyno but he still got 30% gains which is massively noticeable

Unloaded without the toolbox and just the tray 8ltr per 100 Towing caravan weighing 2.2tonne 12-14ltr per 100

Why do they put the intake temp sensor on the hot side of the cooler and not the cold side after it’s been cooled? 🤔

Hey Justin fairly sure it does necause your fitting aftermarket parts Phil the owner isn't fazzed about warranty he just want his car to run good so he qent straight ahead with it

Don't think I'll be doing it to mine I put a pwr cooler in my bt50 3 bolts hold it little bit of cutting with grinder barely spent half hour on it yep it was a 2010 model can't believe you've got pull whole front off

She's not to hard to pull apart so didn't faze me to much , from start to intercooler removal took just under half an hour This intercooler is a larger unit then its previous generation so for me removing a few extra things to fit a superior intercooler then it's older model is worth it Thing I hate the most is cutting the plastic shrouding to suite the thing haha

@zakizaki6099 🤣 thought the big PDI logo would of given it away. I didn't buy it myself but pretty sure he got it though ppd in Perth and as above its a pdi intercooler

@@jarv75 yeah I gave mine a real good clean out when I done my engine change was a fair bit of oil in there Would be a prick to do on the vehicle though

@@OUTBACKDiscovery yeah I think I’m going to do it when I do belts - basically take the front end of the car apart 😆 although as is life with a landy I’ve now got a worrying knock/tapping which I need to prioritise! thinking might be lifter or an injector or both 🤷‍♂️
