Wow I just realised who Henry Crew is after reading this comment! He's matured well - I remember thinking how young he was doing that Sled ride and he did seem timid in interviews etc. And here we see all that experience, and a bit of age, come out in a really lovely presenting style. He's relaxed, knowledgeable and for me the most important thing is he's not trying too hard. Just talking like you're having a conversation with him. Henry was the reason I bought the Sled too. I own the Monster 1200 (2018 yr) as well and I am affraid that like Henry says the new Monster is just too generic looking. I'd sooner have looks over performance any day, because at the end of the day the different between a few split seconds for a bike you ride on the road makes no difference at all. But the difference you feel when parked up, or in the garage, looking back at your bike is where I reckon the majority of us take our joy from. This new Monster holds no such joy for me. I will definately be looking elsewhere when it's time to replace my Monster.

The Trellis frame and the lack of technology was the two things that always kept me from buying a Monster. Well, got mine last week. Couldn’t be happier

Nice review man - hopefully your efforts pay off and your channel grows! Regarding the bike: I was of the idea that it is great looking regardless of having no trellis frame. But having aquired a 796 recently, the more I look at my bike the more I start looking at the 937 as quite generic looking :(
@HenryCrew353 жыл бұрын
Thanks Juan! Yeh it definitely is more generic in some ways, I think it still has monster styling though and the performance is the bottom line :)

Thanks for the review, I took one for a spin Saturday. Only got 30 minutes from my local dealer and had to put fuel in too!! The vibrations are quite intrusive , hardly noticed the mirrors with those through the seat and grips. Also wouldn't want to go in a long ride with the heat from the exhaust on my right thigh. Think I'll stick with my (19) Speed Triple RS for now.

Yeh those big L twins will shake like crazy. The bike does run hot hey! Yeh a triple is hard to beat. I saw some interesting dyno comparisons on the two the other day.

I just got one. It is HOT in traffic but I hardly notice if I am going over 30 thankfully. When I am sitting in traffic, however, you could baste my thighs like a Christmas goose and feed a family of 6. Thankfully, I don't do aot of riding in traffic but I am worried about what it will be like in the summer in Texas. Might need some oven mitts for my legs.

I got very very bad burns from my desert sled but that was riding at about 52 Celsius which I believe is around 120F! My sweat soaked through my motorbike jeans and boiled on my skin ahah

@@HenryCrew35 no, the Speed Twin! Love retro style, but I love sporty riding more! The Monster suits my riding style. The Speed Twin appeals to my artistic style, if you know what I mean!?....I've started saving my coin for one! Afterall, isn't the optimal number of bikes to own, what you already have plus 1?

Thanks. Nice review. Very positive. How does it stack up compared with the Street Triple and MT 09SP?
@HenryCrew352 жыл бұрын
I’ve not ridden the MT09 but I’ve heard that’s another level of hooligan. Compared with a ST it’s way more torquey and snatchy. Not as comfortable and I’m not sure the finish is quite as good compared with the RS which has the TFT display. Both bikes handle extremely well. I would say the ST is faster but the monster probably feels just as fast / maybe a bit more fun at lower speed due to the torque.
@surferdude6423 жыл бұрын
Nice review, Henry, but you made some comments that I find somewhat curious. At 5:46 you said that the bike makes you feel like you're going faster than you really are. While this may be good for protecting your license, wouldn't you rather have a bike that makes you feel that you're going slower than you really are? As far as the electronic throttle is concerned, my experience with it on a KTM and my current BMW is really good, no complaints. It should actually be better as there is no slop or friction to concern yourself with. I get that some will prefer throttle cables for their simplicity and reliability though. Nothing wrong with cables.
@HenryCrew352 жыл бұрын
Hey Ted! Sorry for the slow reply, I’ve only just seen this comment! Yeh I think it’s personal preference, personally I would side with ‘it’s better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow’ the monster is great because you feel like you’re riding at speed and you’re having a great time but you’re not doing over 100mph. Don’t get me wrong it’s by no means slow but for me it allowed me to have fun and enjoy the character of the bike without hitting silly speeds. Electronic throttle for me can be hit and miss, some bikes I don’t even notice the difference and others I do, in this case I did. I feel that sometimes it can drain a little soul and connection from the experience. It’s useful for rider modes etc though! The only place I outright wouldn’t want one is on an adventure or dirt bike that I was going to do off road or long hard adventures with as I can replace a cable myself but wouldn’t know where to start with an electronic issue!

@@HenryCrew35 perhaps it will, but that engine ❤️ I think the monster could do with a couple more hp btw, it would be even better.

For sure. You could definitely get a bit more out of it with a new exhaust and ECU tune - basically undoing some of the euro 5.

Ducati did not remove trelis frames from all its bikes. Hypermotard, SS950, MTS 950, Diavel, and X Diavel all still have a trelis frame component. I stopped watching at that point as if you didn't know that, what else would you get wrong?
