I’m glad my first Ducati Monster had the trellis frame, because when I was younger when I saw that in the movies or on TV I knew that was a Ducati. After your run down this reminds me of the front engine vs mid engine Corvette conversations I hear every day at the Chevy dealership. This is still a gorgeous bike and I’d buy one in a heartbeat! I’ll just have to paint parts of the frame red and that will be reminiscent enough for me haha!

My previous monster was a 797... It needed to lose some weight and this is exactly the change that needed to happen! Looking forward to getting on the new Monster!
@asmforce3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I loved my 797+ (it was white with a black trellis frame just like in this video) a lot for it's look but it wasn't as good from performance standpoint. It was heavy (maybe not as heavy on a paper as it feels in real life), a bit bulky and it used to have a stupidly narrow steering lock. Now I see they did a good job fixing what wasn't particularly good about that bike.
@That_Cajun_Guy3 жыл бұрын
@@asmforce The weight distribution was absolutely terrible on the 797 and agreed with the steering lock. For a city commuter it wasn't designed well for city commuting. Besides those two things, loved it lol

Very well said. Gave a good idea and philosophy behind the Monster range. I own a 94 Monster. And I am very excited about the 937. As long as they keep it light, simple and a L twin, it is a monster. It is like the 996 switched to water cooled flat 6 for better cooling and packaging. They cant just keep selling the old products to the existing fans. They need to sell to new customers to keep the product alive. For those must have a trellis frame, there are plenty on the used market.

Have a 2012 1100 Evo, last of the 'real' Monsters! The change in frame does not stop me from eventually having an upgraded, improved, 'with the times' Monster (likely the 937). Looking to get an 821 soon for commute to work and back, I'll likely keep the 821 & fore sure will not part with the 1100 Evo! 😁 Would love to have a 1200S but really can't justify it, unless it were a deal that just could not be passed up 😁 15:16 Hmm! How about a great deal on a 937 w/Termi exhaust? 🤔😁

If I bought one it would be for the trellis and single swing arm, it has the copy paste look of most bikes now. I own a SDR and feel the same about the post 2019 models. Love the look of the rear wheel without swing arm and short pipe. Granted technology advances but to disband an iconic style! Loose the weight by fitting carbon components as standard. Does the consumer really need or notice the extra bhp? It’s a street bike not a track bike. Looks nice but as a prospective buyer I’d go for the last of the 1200 single swing arm units. Personal choices!

To me, my 1200S looks and feels premium like a Ducati should. Trellis or no trellis, does not replace my bike or make me want it for many reasons such as looks & power. Ok if Ducati wants to go another direction, it’s just not for me… and I am a 100% monster fan. I am being pushed up to a Streetfighter it appears, by Ducati, which is CONSIDERABLY more $$ than Monster 1200. I was hoping, along with many Monster 1200 owners that Ducati would do something for us faithful Monster guys, but this ain’t it. Sorry. Great job on the video Marty and I completely understand your points. Thanks for the info! But it solidifies it for me that I’ll need to do something else when I am ready to purchase a new bike next year. I hope it’s successful for them and they hit their demographic.
