Tularosa, This is an excellent review. I just rolled 2K miles on my 2021 Monster and couldn't agree more with every point you bring up. From the mirror picture being too narrow to the brake lever too low to the sticky seat, you are spot on, sir! I too look forward to more aftermarket exhaust options. Again, GREAT JOB! For anyone considering this bike, do not hesitate any further. You will not be disappointed. I will add that I am 6'5 and this bike fits me perfectly. The only adjustment I made was to the bar angle. I rolled it up just a bit for my personal comfort but frame and stance are right where they need to be.

Dude, What an excellent review of your Monster 937. I’m an old guy (69yo this month) and a lifelong motorcyclist. I’ve been a “twins” rider virtually the entire time. As one ages your needs in a motorcycle change. I’m not as strong as I once was, and I’m shrinking! I have been 5’-8” tall my whole life; last time I was measured I had lost 2”! WTF?!? For a short guy this is a harsh reality let me tell you. As a general rule older guys want/need lighter and lower motorcycles, ask any old guy that rides a “bagger” of any brand. Anyway, I’m searching for a new motorcycle, a bike lighter and lower than the bike I have now (a 2004 1st generation Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS that I bought new and have loved for 20 yrs.). Your evaluation of the 937 Monster confirms what I have surmised from careful review of the bike’s specs, various test rides, and my own speculation after 43 years riding Ducatis. The 937 Monster is a light, fast, torguey twin with excellent handling and fabulous brakes, just like you say. This is what I liked in my motorcycles throughout my 56 years riding; however now I need the “light and low” if I am going to continue riding. Thanks for the great review! My next motorcycle is going to be a Monster 937.

This review is spot on! I’ve had my monster+ 937 since July and totally love it. I live in North Carolina and there are plenty of curvy country roads, and “twisties”; and this bike handles it effortlessly. I’m 5’8” and I purchased the lowered seat which allowed me to flat foot with ease. The lowered seat is just as comfortable as the standard seat. It does get a little warm between the legs when driving in stop n go traffic around the city, but I’ve had bikes that were worse. Actually it really isn’t noticeable until you think about it. I also enjoy the quick shift feature which works very well in my opinion. This is my first Ducati and I’m very impressed with the overall performance and build quality.

Great review format, nice scenery, my only gripe is perhaps the lack of cruise control, especially since its popping up everywhere now, MT09 SP, aprilia tuono 660 has it too. If you've never ridden a bike with it, it is a game changer.

Great review! Best I’ve seen so far for this bike. I’m considering upgrading to the monster, but wanted to know what the wind resistance was like for you? You mentioned taking it on rides that last a couple hours, as well as going over 100mph on the track. Did the lack of wind protection make that cumbersome?
@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 2 жыл бұрын
It did take a little getting used to at first. My other two bikes have fairing so being naked out in the wind was a bit much when I first got it. Now it doesn't really bother me. I hardly notice it. The track is where I would notice it but I have another bike for that now. There are a couple of windscreens for the 937 so you can add one at fairly low cost if you want.

I still own the bike. I still love it. Great bike. Fast enough to keep up with the big bikes but not so much speed that it’s stupid. With a suspension upgrade, it can tear up the twisties. The low end torque and easy handling make the bike all around fun to ride.

I was happy to hear you were just going to tell us how it rode. You said no specs than went on to regurgitate Ducati's press release of specs. Torque is what gears do. Just like a bicycle. When you want high torque/low speed, you put it in first gear. When you want high speed and have momentum, you can select sixth gear that gives you more rear wheel speed and less torque. What this bike's engine makes is linear power. And that is very useful on a road bike. It simply means the engine creates power up and to the right on the graph in a straight line. Of course, that is one take with the throttle WFO on a dyno. So even that graph is pretty meaningless to an engine's actual manners in normal riding. No reason for anyone reviewing anything to talk about it except as a form of bragging. The brakes are total overkill, but with ABS they'll keep the kids from killing themselves with them and run up the price for better margins. Unless you are going to sprinkle water on your shocks, there is no "dampening." Shocks have dampers that damp. No n's required. Anyway, all the floof aside, it sounds like it works well for the various riding you do, which is the important thing. I like this V2 line myself, but I'll hold out for the V2 Multi they just brought out. Even more practical than the others as it also brings two up riding and luggage into the mix.

While I do not have 4,000 miles (only approximately 700), this review is spot on, and helped with my decision to purchase the Monster Plus. Thank you! I have owned motorcycles and had the opportunity to ride bikes representing multiple classes, even Ducati's. But, this Monster is in its own class. I have not experienced squeaky brakes, nor do I care about cruise control. So, this bike checks my boxes and more. Standing just above 6'2", I find the 937 comfortable and I barely notice the wind when riding on the freeway. So, I don't have a need for a large windscreen. I have bar end mirrors and front blinker upgrades, and it is in the shop right now for its first oil service and check, and a tail tidy. I cannot overstate how enjoyable the bike is to ride--smooth handling and eyebrow raising powerful at the ready. I can't wait for Spring.

Tough decision. The Yamaha wins on specs but the Ducati wins on feel. The one advantage that Ducati has is their local groups. Here in San Diego, the local club meets twice a month. I’ve made some good friends and lots of connections through the group. No other brand has such a strong and positive supporting group of riders. You might look into the group in your area and see how active they are. It’s definitely a big plus in my book to have that group to connect with.

The Monster’s weight is comparable to the MT-09 and other bikes in its class. The Monster doesn’t win on specs though. Other bikes look better on paper. Where the Monster shines is on the road when you’re out twisting the throttle. You can’t measure fun on a spec sheet.

Did i read that right? Somewhere around 11:44 it says available launches : 3 Is this a pay per use thing now?
@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto Жыл бұрын
LOL. It’s only pay per use because if you use it too much, you’ll burn up your clutch. There’s a lot of clutch slippage going on to keep the bike under control. If you overuse the launch control, you’ll be investing in a new clutch before you know it. A good race worthy clutch is up near $1,000 so you don’t want to just keep messing around with it.

How would this fair to a shorter rider? I’m 5’4” and the Kawasaki Z650 fits me awesome at a narrow 31.1” seat. I’d 100% do the lowering seat and my which puts this at 30.5”. The weights are almost identical. Problem is finding one to sit on even in stock form - no dealers within 3 hours from me have one.

@tularosamoto 2 жыл бұрын
Shorter riders are going to have an issue with most bikes. I'll say that because the 937 Monster is so slim between the legs, it should be easier for a shorter rider to handle.

Hey beautiful review. How’s the ground clearance? Indian rider here….
@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 2 жыл бұрын
The ground clearance is good. Hasn’t really been an issue with me. About what you’d expect from an upright naked bike. I took it to 40 degrees of lean at the track this past weekend. I have scraped the pegs but that was easily cured by better body position.

Gotta say - watching and rewatching all of your earlier vids made my purchase of a 22 Monster+ last year an easier decision and it’s been an absolute blast so far. The bike is far more capable than my riding skills for sure. Thank you 🤘🏽Your production quality is through the roof and content delivery is more engaging 🎉 I switched out to termi slip ons and an arrow mid pipe. wondering if I need to do an upmap via shift tech or deal with the lower rpm’s at idle and let it run stock ecu?🤔cheers from DC 🍻

Glad you’re finding our videos helpful! To answer your question about an ECU flash, the answer is yes you should do it. Your engine is running lean without it - which over time can mess things up. I had a conversation with my Ducati mechanic about it. His advice was to get it done immediately. I had hoped to do a before and after dyno run with the bike but he was in the middle of racing season so he didn’t have time.

Depends on the weight. A lightweight rider and lightweight passenger is okay, but put an average American sized people on the bike and I think you'll max the shock out even with it adjusted for maximum weight.

I have ordered mine few days ago, and I am desperately waiting for her to arrive. I have chosen the red one because obviously, like Ferrari, it's quite difficult not to chose the rosso corsa (I don't know what Ducati calls their red). Anyway, is there any way were we can get rid of the passenger foot pegs ? I do hope that Ducati brings single sided swing arm :/
@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 2 жыл бұрын
You can easily remove the footpegs themselves. The assembly that holds the pegs also holds up the exhaust. There's no delete for that. Not yet. Like I mentioned in the video, you have to wait awhile for the upgrades.

@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 3 жыл бұрын
I've had zero issues with my Monster. Looks brand new. It's a Ducati made in Italy. So as far as I can tell, the bike's quality is consistent with every other Ducati. You can see where every part on the bike was initialed by the person who installed it.

@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 2 жыл бұрын
Street triple is a great bike. I hear that they upgraded the engine for this year (2022) so it puts out more torque. The old engine is shorter on horsepower so it's not as fun as the Monster. Really well put together though. You'll love whichever one you choose.

Awesome review I’ve have mine since July and I am having a rear break squeak and abs issue.. dealer is going to look at it Friday. Other than that I love this bike. Eager for after market parts come out ! Also need a windscreen if you ride highway a lot. Wind beats you up. Puig has 2 awesome ones coming out that can be seen on their site. Anyway great review - enjoy

I wanted to get a windscreen as well. I reached out to puig and they told me that the sport screen will be out in March. This is the one that looks like the “plus” screen but much longer. The other screen is already available through a dealer in the UK. Good luck!

I'm looking forward to seeing what Puig comes out with. My initial edit of the bike mentioned the fly windscreen that comes with the plus version of the bike. I think it's pretty much worthless and I don't even like how it looks. I've gotten used to the wind so we'll see if I decide to pick one up.

Danial, What did the dealer say about your rear brake squeak? Mine also makes noise but I assumed it was just because it was new. I'm at 2K and its still there under low braking power. Any insight is appreciated.

how about the gas consumption? in the city, daily commute
@tularosamoto
@tularosamoto 3 жыл бұрын
It's about average. I haven't paid close attention but it's about 45 miles to the gallon. The fuel warning light usually comes on at around the 100 mile mark and says i've got 39 miles to go. For me, the Monster would be fine for shorter commutes. For longer commutes especially if the weather gets cold, I'd want a bike with a bigger tank and large windscreen to block the wind.
