I loved my 2015 821 stripe monster but when I saw the new 937 I knew I was getting one. Sold my 821 and got the 937 last summer (2021) and love it too. I put the Ducati option heated grips on mine - can be cold in Ireland. Also put on the Ohlins steering damper. This bike because its so light can get upset on motorways in heavy winds or when overtaking large trucks and when those two issues coincide it can get positively dangerous but the damper solves all that. Also put on the Ducati radiator guard. Still looking for nice crash protector bungs/bars to put on it too.

At first I didn't care for the new look, but I reconsidered and looked at the spec and improvements on the 937 engine. I got one and it is gorgeous and really great to ride.

I had the old 821 on my shortlist when I was shopping for a new bike last year (I ended up getting a BMW F900r), but the biggest issues with Ducati is their servicing costs (nearly twice as expensive as the beemer) and, especially at the moment, supply issues. Getting a straight answer to "when can I take delivery of the bike?" was surprisingly complex.

how do like your f900r? it seems like a great deal for the price! Im also considering the Z900, MT09 but the fact that the F900r as all the bmw gizmo's for a tiny bit of money, it seems like a no brainer

@@maximesauve112 the BMW is the most confidence inspirating bikes I've ever ridden. A combination of of chassis, tyres and electronics that make you feel like a bit of a ridding god. The biggest standout over the other bikes in the class is the general refinement. Some might find this aspect a bit boring, but it's great to have a bike that does exactly what you want it to do. You never feel like there is one aspect letting the side down.

The f900 has been a contender for my second bike but with their reliability at such a low number I’m a bit nervous to get one since I ride as a daily commute. My number one pick right now is a street triple with a Z900 as second pick and Ducati 821 as third. I also noticed when sitting on the f900 that it was very heavy although people have said you don’t feel the weight while riding it.

@@maximesauve112 I’m in the same boat. I’m nervous about the reliability of the f900. I’ve sat on one and it was also a bit top heavy. My first pick is a street triple r because of how light and refined the bike feels.

I don't know ducati motorcycles but I once read somewhere that you have to get them serviced every some km by Ducati or can you service them yourself? The reason why I'm asking is I'd really like to get this new monster but I live like 1500 km away from the nearest dealer so it wouldn't be an option if I'd have to get it serviced by ducati.

I did, test drove both. Similar performance all round. Ducati makes you feel special whereas KTM is more of a toy.

Ducati seems to be a much less troublesome and better looking, better quality bike over the 890. That's why I went with it.

next ? make a 1200 monster the exact same way as the 950 with a few upgrades. Ohlins forks and shock and steering damper that are fully adjustable . Price it under 14k and youll have a bike that will be a true performance monster

Great bike, but I keep wondering if it needs all these electronics - give me ABS, a well-calibrated throttle, and a well-sorted suspension, and let's go ride!!
@mindcave
@mindcave 2 жыл бұрын
Having all the electrics (and the ability to turn it all off) caters to a far broader market of riders. It can be the bike you want it to be, and the bike I want it to be. When it's raining, or, when I have my precious family members on the back, having the added safety measures is a great addition.

This was a nice review. You did a nice job with the overall presentation. Additionally, it was good to get Shelina's take on the bike. That said, I'm just not feeling this thing. I'm sure it's a nice bike and all, but non-adjustable suspension is a non-starter for me. Also, I think all of the electronics is kind of overkill for a bike of this type. Nice, but a bit gimmicky and definitely more shit to go wrong! And just imagine what that is going to cost to repair... Yeah. But the big thing is the look - I just can't get behind it. I have done repeated side by side's with other Monster types and this new bike loses every time. Obviously this is subjective and I'm sure that many will prefer the new bike, but if I were going to buy a Monster it certainly wouldn't be this one. Watch, it won't be long before an "R" version will appear with upgraded suspension etc. that will push the price up to 15K or more. At that point I would rather just have a gently used 1200. SO, cool bike but it comes up short. Maybe not so much for a new rider, but definitely for me. Cheers.

Why you need cruise control on a monster? it's not a touring bike.
@koongfu00
@koongfu00 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-hf8ie8mf3n Well, I'm sure the Monster has other things that mt09 doesn't. Personally, if I buy a Monster the cruise control is not something I really want (it's welcome if it comes, i won't hate it). On the other hand, if I buy a GS the cruise control is something I will want to have and sure I would choose another brand if BMW doesn't provide it.

As a long time Ducati owner, I think the mistake here for Ducati is that the Monster has really been something that stood apart from other bikes because it was about a particular style, so it's foibles were over-looked as "character", but now that the baby has been tossed out, and it is no longer a "Monster" other than in name, they will now be trying to compete with others makers on a level playing field of price versus performance, which is not a Ducati strong point. And the mention of finding neutral? Ducati needs to stop all the tech they are trumpeting these days until they can build a decent gearbox, because that nonsense has been going on for decades.

@peterquigley6911

My 937's gearbox operates perfectly and the neutral is very easy to find. You do have to use the right technique on the quick shifter. Tularossa did the best review on the new monster.
