Nice. So many trucks now are loaded up with the biggest and baddest engines as possible, turbos, hybrids, etc. The biggest cabs as possible, the most tech we can cram in there, every part of the dash is a screen, the biggest wheels and tires, the heaviest tow packages possible, it goes on and on. Then we wonder why trucks are $80k, and cost so much to fix. This is what I would call a normal truck, with a price tag that someone who works for a living can handle. It's really breath of fresh air.

Clean looking truck. I can appreciate the space under the hood, which makes common maintenance items easier and faster to perform. A high point, the water pump is not driven by the timing chain!

Great presentation. Thank you. I am 73 years old and 6 ft 6 in tall. Just looking for a simple truck for daily driving purposes, no towing or very little off-road use. I have two young grandkids who would love to ride in this truck. So I'm shooting for a 2018 or 19 with 3.3 paired with a six-speed transmission. I think this would be a great truck for my retirement years. Thank you very much for all the videos you post there are super informative.

looking at a 3.3 liter with 290 horsepower is just so amazing. Back when I was a teen and me and my buddies were working on our first cars and trucks, a new F100 / F150 with a 5.0 liter had 130 horsepower and 224 lb ft of torque.

I know a buddy with a 3.3 2018 f150 and hes a GMC dealer mechanic. But hes one of those guys who say “i spend all day working on customer vehicles and i dont want to work on my own vehicles.” A typical “mechanic owned special”. Kind of unfortunate that he is a mechanic but would rather pay someone else to work on his own truck. I am the kind of person who services my truck every 4/5k miles religiously, staying late after work to preform my own services. I own a 2021 toyota tacoma and work at a toyota dealership so it makes it very easy for me.

We have those 3.3s in our Police Interceptor Explorers and so far we're pretty impressed with them. I was sad to see the 3.7s go because they were a hell of a good motor aside from those damn water pumps. One thing I like about those 3.3s in our Interceptors is they're both port and direct injected. Hopefully it cuts down on the carbon build up on the intake valves.

Exactly, I could be wrong, but doesn't duratec essentially stand for durable technology? The 3.5 duratec in our explorer is fantastic. Apparently, some 3.5s have an issue with water pump failures, but this is a pretty uncommon issue, and doesn't seem to happen as much on post 2012 3.5 engines.

just checked and it says the Ford 3.3 L Cyclone V6 on the ford F150 since 2018 has both port and direct fuel injection. I assume this would at least mitigate the effects of carbon sludge buildup on the valves since there is at least some gas flow to wash the valves.

I have one of these engines in my company truck.. it's not terrible! I thought it was gutless when I first got it because my personal truck is a 5.7 hemi. Now that I'm used to it, it does have some gitty up when you need to pass. You just need to realize that the engine needs to rev out to 3 -5 k. Gas mileage is ok, but not that much better than my Hemi on the highway. The drawback is that the transmission will downshift climbing " any" grade ( 6 speed), whereas my hemi will pull a hill in top gear. My one pet peeve is that the oil dipstick is too short and you need to stand on your head to reach it.. Ford could lengthen it to accommodate the use in the truck.

Seems to be a pretty solid engine, the base f-150 engines are better than most people give them credit. For instance, I believe the previous gen f-150 had a 3.5 duratec as it's base motor. Which is a great engine, our explorer has one. Decent power, acceptable fuel economy, and it's apparently one of the more durable Ford engines you can find. The water pump situation isn't great, but that's apparently a pretty uncommon failure point, especially on newer 3.5s like our 2017 explorer.

Is that a column shifter I see? I had a 2010 F150 4.6l 3v fx2 which has similar power to the 3.3 v6.👍 I wonder how much better mileage is on the 6. I'll have to google it. F150's IMO are the best looking trucks out there, inside and out and the most reliable.

@@FordBossMe Some on the Jimmy Jammer kit. Some on flipping passenger handle. (It has no hole for the lock so when you remove the drivers lock there isn’t an empty hole) But every solution so far costs around $500. Kids are running around the neighborhoods wrecking Ford doors.

People complain about the power of the 3.3 v6 but it has almost as much power as a 5.4 3v triton so they can shut up.

What is the main reason for the oil be in 5W 20. Is it just for the gas mileage
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe 3 жыл бұрын
You have to understand there's also timing components that have to have certain amount of oil flow and if you go too much it'll be restricted and if you go to little it won't work properly so they've tested this with specific motor oils and yes a big part of it is fuel mileage

Do the Ecoboost engines have an external water pump?
@jimmyaber5920
@jimmyaber5920 3 жыл бұрын
Assist pump for heater before tstat fully opens. The reverse flow (heads then block) with tstat on lower hose on several makes use a pump like that. Then you have hybrids with component and battery cooling that have them. Some are hidden and you'd never know it was on vehicle.
