2021 F150’s B&O sound system leaves much to be desired... “can’t bring the noise”... no subwoofer???

Make sure that sound check is turned off in Apple Music settings. If if you are streaming music from Apple Music via CarPlay and this feature is enabled it will sound almost half as loud. This made a huge difference for the b&o unleashed and now the system gets louder than I can listen. If android look for a similar setting.

Just got mine with the b&o. It's very clean and sounds good. But it doesn't get very loud overall. Volume all the way up seems like it has more to go but won't go past 30.

I have a 2018. I bought the base system. And put my own stereo in the first weekend I bought the truck. I'm 50 and love my metal loud with thunderous bass.

I went from a 2021 ram 1500 laramie with 9 speaker alpine that punched hard and got loud, but slightly lacking in the treble, to a 2021 ram 2500 bighorn with a stock 6 speaker stereo. Not as loud but still plenty of bass, but it didn't hit as hard. And now just got a 2022 f-150lariat with the 8 speaker b&o system and the mids and highs are clear, but bass is wayyyyy, way lacking, and rear seats have no volume. I rented a 2020 f-150 xlt base stereo, and it sounded like the rear speakers in the current ford. low volume, almost no bass. which also sounded like my 2018 silverado work truck trim. All the people that say the b&o system sounds good, i mean it's clear, but its lacking bass, probably haven't experienced many other sound systems. Alot of times, car manufacturers make the sound system, it just happens to be tuned by b&o or alpine, etc. I know the ram 9 speaker alpine and the base 6 speaker stereo in ram use the same speaker drivers. the extra 3 speakers are center and ceiling speakers that don't put any sound unless you have surround sound on. But there is an added sub in the apline but the rear door speakers don't punch like the base stereo. I dont wanna call my self a audiophile, but I do pay attention to things

It does have a sub woofer its on the back wall behind the rear seat. 4 door speakers 2 tweeters in the front 1 center channel speakers in the storage bin ontop of the dash and the sub getting upto a 8 speakers system.

I have a 2022 f150 platinum. I agree the B&O is the least impressive of any factory upgraded sound system I have ever purchased. I went to an audio place and they said its not easy or cheap to upgrade it without changing out speakers. Disappointed

Yup…. our 2004 Expedition (almost 20 years old!!!) puts out more sound, and has a much stronger subwoofer. And sounds just as clean.

My 19 F-150 XLT had the standard sound system and I thought sounded great. I opted for the $610.00 B&O sound upgrade in my 21 XLT and all I can say it was a waste of $610.00.

@@Alongfortheride693 I since my first post traded to a 22 F-150 XLT. Almost identical to the 21 except I skipped the B&O upgrade. I honestly cannot tell a nickel worth of difference in the sound system. But, in your case where you reference not taking delivery of the truck because of the sound system up charge you may want to consider if you refuse the truck and decide to reorder your going to have to wait for the 23 models. Ford quit taking special orders for the 22 F 150 back on May 13. By the time your reorder you might be looking at over $2000.00 increase in cost. Just my 2 cents worth. Anyway good luck whichever way you go.

My B&O in my 2021 F150 Lariat absolutely sucks ass ! It’s not even loud enough to have the windows open and still hear it . The sound quality is trash hardly any sound coming from the door speakers and I tried every adjustment the radio has and still is horrible . I actually brought it back to the dealer thinking something was wrong with it and every person at the dealer agreed with me . The Sony in my 2013 Limited blew it away

I bought mine an year ago. 2020. XLT. Listening about the 2021. I will never regret it. Question. To the ones that got the 6 ft bed. How many of you have the front bed fold-out step? I thought every truck came with them. I am finging I am the only one. They are very useful. Then I found out they are not an standered opition. An add on.

Yep， just like you said, it's clear but not much power in the system. But, I can assure you it is much better than the factory setting :P. And it has a tinny sub behind the rare seats...and the unleashed system only add 6 more speakers or so, with same sub ....

There is a subwoofer behind the larger seat in the crew cab. The base factory system does not have a subwoofer (but there is a add on woofer for $500+ listed in the ford accessory listing.) You can really hear the difference between the base radio and the B&O thou. You also can't get the Unleashed B&O radio till you get the lariat high package. Have you tried boosting the base in the equalizer? I usually leave mine boosted 1 or 2 ticks.

Well, it’s good to know you’re getting *something* for the 600 bucks that the B&O costs. (Although the base radio should never be an embarrassment in a $50-60K truck.) And yes we’ve turned up the bass. It makes a little bit of a difference. Thanks for the info on the Unleashed.

Loudness is NOT an indicator of sound quality. THD and speaker quality is.

Agreed, but in this day and age it's not acceptable for a premium ($$$) sound system to be incapable of putting out lots of sound volume. That's just the way it is. The stereo in our 18-year-old Expedition is both cleaner, and louder.

Purchased 2022 maverick with B&O system, this is the worst sound ever. It has speed compensation that doesn’t work. Took back to dealer and they said that’s how it works. So now driving in town got to turn volume knob to adjust with speed. No one knows anything about repairing these radio units, tried t find B&O dealers in my area central BC no chancy.

As mentioned several times, there is a small sub and amp behind the back seat. Is there any way to increase the signal coming from the amp in order to boost the bass to the sub? I'm sure it can handle a little more but the amp doesn't appear to be customizable.

Yea the F150 B&O is pretty much garbage. If you're going to upgrade go for the B&O Unleashed. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the difference.

Mine is terrible in my 2022 Lariat. B&O was a waste of money. The truck sounds like it has a single speaker like an old 1970's dash speaker in it.

Mine is very disappointing in my 2020 limited. Did focal speakers and tweeters and 2 jl audio 10” subs and now it is crisp and clean sounding

I have seen many XLTs msrp for $60+k in the US, you have to remember that ford narrowed the gap between the xlt and lariat with many options previously only available on lariat or higher trims for 21.
