Since they test these on the Nurburgring, are these not basically track hardened right out of the box? With the new looks which I think are killer and clean on the new hatches, I’m so very interested to see what it turns out like. My partner got an SI 2022 and I’m much more impressed with the latest offerings over the 10th gen. They’re feeling like approaching Audi levels of refinement in the way they drive.

Even better a Type R with a P600 or MHI Stage 2 Turbo ;)... I got the P600 and 93 octane, tuned with 426whp as a safe tune I can use on the track... but JSR is pushing P600 Type R's well into the 500whps and approaching the 600whp mark on stock internals and Ethanol mixes. @CG-rb4xo
@CG-rb4xo 2 жыл бұрын
You probably need to increase your tire pressures to make up for the increase in side wall, so that there won’t be as much flex and that feeling of lazy handling. Just a suggestion. Of course, the increase in tire pressure can also make the car grip a little worse (slide more). It’s a delicate balance.
@christmasisawesome9348
@christmasisawesome9348 2 жыл бұрын
You need a set of new coilover. The handling will still be less sharp whatever you do to the car tho. Mine has 265 35 18 on all 4 corners and KW v3. 37 front 33 rear
@CG-rb4xo
@CG-rb4xo 2 жыл бұрын
@@christmasisawesome9348 raise your pressure above 40 and the lazy handling goes away. It’s the cheapest alternative, albeit with some gains (better fuel economy, and easier acceleration at higher speeds) and some setbacks (less rolling resistance=slightly less grip when turning and acceleration). I would try this before spending the money for coil-overs. But I agree, cool-overs would help.

Truthfully, the type r is a better vehicle to live with. 4 doors, more power, awesome handling capability, pretty exclusive….but the brz/frs/86 all have a charm that most vehicles do not have. If you throw a set of sticky tires on a brz it will stick to the road like no other. If you throw on an unequal length header, exhaust, intake, and tune it would be a vast difference compared to o.e. Stock format there are some things to be desired. With the type r, out of the box there wasnt much to desire aside from adding more drama-intake/exhaust.

@TheTopher My brother's going to reach out to see if you want to drive my Elantra N. It's ~320 whp (just a tune) in SCCA TT S3 spec (basically just wheels and tires, race alignment, tune). I also disagree that the performance envelope is higher on the Type R - Speed Academy found that the Elantra N was actually significantly quicker around TMP than the Type R and (no surprise here) the Veloster N. All in a package that doesn't require and cooling to track 20 minute sessions. Hell, I'm still on stock pads and fluid doing 16's at Waterford.

Let’s do it! I didn’t know the Elantra N was that much quicker than the Veloster N. Good to hear. We had a stock Veloster N DCT around Gingerman a few weeks ago and things got pretty hot after a few laps, but still lasted longer than a CTR would have. Excited to drive a manual Elantra N too.

@@TheTopher Yeah, there's a multiple seconds delta from basically any A/B testing done between the two cars. This is for a bunch of reasons, but most notably there's about a ~25-30 whp increase over the Veloster N. That and the Kona N + Veloster N are on the older global platform where as the Elantra N is the first vehicle to be on the new Hyundai global platform which has massively higher torsional rigidity. 2nd generation of adaptive dampers, much more track capable pads, stock brake ducting standard, a longer wheelbase, aluminum arms + integrated drive axle etc. It's a beast compared to the Veloster N. I have a buddy who is every bit as capable as me and has yet to break the 1:20 barrier in his VN on 255 200TW's. I did a 1:19.5 bone stock off the showroom floor in the EN. I'll text you.

Not sure how fast you’re looking but a 9th gen honda accord coupe. Comes in I4 and V6 and manual. I have a 13 Coupe I4 and 6MT and it weights roughly 3200 lbs. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. The v6 can do it in 5.8 seconds or so. Plenty of leg room front and rear. Had few people over 6 ft and they had no issues with leg room and head room in the rear.

Love the Type R and currently in the market for one, but geez the prices on these have never been good. Mid 40s for a used Type R is crazy. Way over priced, all things considered.

That exhaust drone is terrible, I got a headache from just watching the video, couldn't imagine a road trip in this with that exhaust.

Hey, i put the intake on for more sound-not for performance. I noticed that the intake had some effects on the low end torque-felt a slight loss. In return, I felt more top end torque.
