I thought of a story that illustrates what Warro is saying in this Part 1 of his scooters reviews. I have been friends with a fellow for the past 40 years. During the 1980's and 1990's he was a well respected independent journalist who reviewed new motorcycle models for some of the major U.S. motorcycle manufacturers. He specialized in BMW motorcycles and every time a new BMW model was introduced he would be whisked around by BMW to exotic areas of the world, along with journalists from other countries, where he would be wined and dined while given the opportunity to ride the latest BMW motorcycles. He would be flown first class, his lodging would be in a 5 star hotel and meals and drinks were nothing but the best. Naturally, the entire tab was picked up by BMW. He then would return home and write glowing evaluations of the new bike(s) and submit them to the monthly magazines. Definitely the gravy train. Until that is when he spent his own money to buy a new 2000 BMW sport bike. Apparently, the one that he received was a "Friday-built" model and he started having problems with it that were not resolved or addressed by BMW. He then made the mistake of mentioning these issues in one of his articles that was published by a couple of the magazines. Let me tell you, BMW was not a happy camper when they got wind of his review. Suddenly, he was "blackballed" and could no longer get his articles published by the magazines, who just happened to be partially financed by BMW ads. BMW never forget his honest review and he never was able to have any more articles published in a motorcycle magazine. He eventually transitioned into technical writing and made a living doing that. He also swore off BMW motorcycles and stuck with Japanese motorcycles as his personal rides. So now you know what Warro is talking about when he says that he plans to perform an honest review of the two scooters, which is something that you don't see very often as few (if any) motorcycle reviewers actually buy their own bikes and are dependent upon the manufacturer loaning the bikes to them for a week or two at no cost. And if they get too blunt about any problems, they will be unlikely to get any further models to review.

Jeezus Warro! There's a £1000 price difference between the lowest priced brand new Honda and a brand new Yamaha. With the Honda being the cheaper of the two in the UK. This decision is going to need test rides before any commitments. Great videos by the way. As for your supercub 125, that was on my wish list and a few owners in the UK have experienced flat batteries too. Time to fit a lead to the battery so it can be put on a trickle/maintenance charger. All my bike have had these fitted, and my leisure battery for my caravan too. Yup, I've got too many chargers. But their cheaper than new batteries, and I'm never disappointed with a "failed to start" situation.

@@andycatone on the scooter side heres what i think. the vespa gts 300 supersports new model is easily better than the xmax or honda...easily! more expensive but just does everything better! but in my case i was too far from the dealer 500 klm so cashed it. its suspension far superior its seating comfort way better its fuel tank capacity pretty poor...lol xmax is better over bumps and better ride. honda has more power better brakes but for the rider back braking suspension...rubbish! i put yss rear suspension on honda for $800 and still no better maybe you have a better back but forza 350 and adventure 150 had both both crap...lol guy i sold forza 350 too sold it not long after. he too mentioned suspension was not too good.went to a vespa here in oz forza and xmax are a bit over $10k new and the vespa $13500

I want to have one bike ... That I will use more than once every 2 weeks. I will miss the cruise control but look forward to go back to practical workhorse. @@AdamRamage i think 250 klm run for the xmax would be nothing at all and best of all it will cruise at 100 kph and pull hills fine too. new model has the revised seat and your legs are not spead as wide as all the previous models and it also appears a better seat to sit on. not sure long term as ive only ridden the new bike about 100 klm. in fact as of now i have not even set up the gps and all the other stuff which goes with the new dash display. probably have to pre0order one too as they are not in stock and the new model here in OZ retails for aud$9900 so thats about and $650 increase over the older version but i think well worth it for the new dash set up alone.

Warro, I really do appreciate your contributions on KZbin by helping us make a choice. Moreover, you're certainly a gentleman, hard to find these days in general society. I think I've read in one of your comments that you sold both these scoots due to low viewer interest which is understandable. Though I do need some guidance if you get some spare time, there's no body else I know that could answer. Currently 2022 august., X-max 300 retails $9100 with a wait time till December for delivery, Honda forza350 retails at $10500 with a wait time of 1 month. I know you've also said xmax for suspension build quality, and forza for engine and brakes and that you prefer xmax over the forza. I'm looking to do city riding, but also to get out into the country for some exploration. I'm conflicted between the electric windshield which would be great, but not so keen on the harder suspension on the forza. It's a hard choice for me.
@ridewithwarro2 жыл бұрын
after owning both its not a hard choice at all-the x300 is easily the better scooter. if i was buying a scooter again and it still may happen later this year-thats the direction i will go screen makes no diffence really- just more a novelty item and the xmax unit is as good in stock form the xmax is indeed a very good scooter

Hi Warro, in addition to previous comments here are some ideas for your epic comparison. Some have already been mentioned but i thought i'd put my ideas all together. What feels like the most premium / best built machine to own, how easy are they to clean (some Matt finishes area a pain), how do they handle both slow manoeuvring and faster fun riding, best storage capacity, servicing costs or what can be done by the owner, headlight beam low and high at night (also does the beam cover were you need to see when cornering), MPG urban and on a run, how easy are they to get your feet down, roll on real world performance e.g. safe overtaking (maybe accelerate at a landmark and see how quick the bike is going at another point), wind protection (not just the screen), how do they handle poor quality roads (with a pillion would also be good), plus is one an emotional winner (sometimes it not just marks out of 10 that make the best ownership experience), does either sit at highway speeds better, ease of manoeuvring around a garage etc. Thank you and best wishes.

Hi Warro, first of all I really enjoy your channel, thank you for all the effort! You sound like an enthusiast like myself. I like to try many vehicles myself, I love cars, motorbikes, Scooter and even E-bikes. Motorbikes and scooters being at the top of the list. I’m looking at both of these scooters and I use to own the 300 Forza as a reference. I loved that scooter and the only thing I wasn’t overly happy about was the windscreen always rattling. It was shorter so I eventually replaced it with a taller screen, which obviously made it even worse. I can hear this would be an issue with the current 350 too. I’m just shy of 6 foot and it did feel a little cramped. How does the space when sitting on both compare? The Xmax I like the more aggressive look and somewhat softer suspension when hitting pot holes, but I worry about having to clean those gold wheels? Are they hard to get to? I like to keep my bikes clean. Personally I don’t fancy the gold in general. I like to fade into the background to be honest. My other thoughts are the dials look a bit dated and mirrors aren’t integrated. However, having the ability to change the handle bar positioning is fantastic. My big question jumping from one to the other is, which feels like better quality? Please respectfully, I hope for a clear and decisive response. It looks like the Forza is. But that windscreen may be a dealbreaker. I believe you have the Forza up for sale, which could mean you prefer the Xmax? That being said, it could also be because the Xmax is the one you are still exploring.
@ridewithwarro3 жыл бұрын
well i think the xmax 300 is possibly the better builtscoot in fit and finish and has nice linier smooth throttle but the honda has the best power to theroad /torque and better brakes. i thought when i put the screen on the yamaha to its highest setting it did a verygood job actually as of today both scoots sold. view results were very poor on this series so i decded to cut my losses and call it quits. actually lost $4000 on the sales in total and it just wasn't worth the trouble to do. i had plans to upgrade suspension and rollers on the forza and rollers on the xmax300 but getting a mere 500 views per clip-just not worth the $$$ outlay anyway its 2022 now and new bikes will be arriving shortly in fact a very popular one in a matter of days.

@@ridewithwarro thank you for the reply, this has really made me look back in the direction of the xmax. Speed and torque when so similar is not my main concern.
