In a driving focused pov do try to include the acceleration in sport mode (whether it's sporty enough), 0-60 time, do you feel the g force pinning you to the seat when you floor the gas pedal, difference between the different drive modes, ease of cornering. The viewers always wish to know these informations about a newly released vehicle. Keep up the good work 👌

Excellent review! What you can say about perfomance between in my case santa fe II 2008 2.2 and elantra 1.6 VII, by the book it says elantra is 2 sec faster speaking about 0-100, in your opinion it feels like the same or is much better in this case the elantra? I m asking exactly if Elantra feels less powered than the santa fe or kind the same feeling. Thanks a lot!!:) cheers

2008 Santa Fe 2.2, I assume it is a diesel? In that case, Santa Fe would feel more powerful on the lower speed + most of the city drive speed; which is the characteristic of a diesel over gasoline, not necessarily the difference between Santa Fe to Elantra. They'd feel quite different because almost everything is different between the two. Diesel vs. Petrol. SUV vs. Sedan. DCT and all. Give it a test drive, it feels and handles really great!

With the new digital gauge cluster, does anyone know if that would go out quicker than a standard analog cluster? I have a 2017 Elantra and my touch screen already flickers in and out sometimes. So, the thought of the gauges going out makes me nervous.

Which would you rather have the all-new 2021 Elantra or the recently redesigned 2020 Toyota Corolla? The new generation Corolla is fantastic. I extensively test drove the Corolla SE sedan (US) which comes with 18" tires and a sport tuned suspension and it was excellent. Very solid and refined. I was expecting a stiffer ride with the bigger tires and sport suspension but the ride quality was first class. It also has the 2.0 169hp D-4S engine with the Direct-Shift CVT with a physical first (launch) gear. Do you think Hyundai cheapened out by sticking with a torsion rear suspension? I thought with the all-new platform that they'd for sure switch to an independent rear suspension but they didn't. It was clearly a cost cutting move. The new Corolla now comes with an independent rear suspension where the previous generation had a torsion beam in the rear.

I can't comment anything about Corolla since I haven't driven it. With the legacy of Corolla's, think they'd be as competitive as Elantra for sure. I strongly feel you can be the judge :D As for torsion suspensions on the rear, I don't think there is any advantage of having it other than cost-saving. Good news is though, other variants of Elantra such as Hybrid, ev, N line, and N's will come with multi-links, confirmed by Hyundai. As for the ride quality though, I'd say not many would be able to tell if the rear is torsion beam, unless a car expert. Would you be referring to that "grip bar"? If so, none for the driver, obviously, and not so much for a passenger either. Honestly, you could hardly "notice" the bar. Elantra was very roomy, not just the front rows, but also the back seats. I think their design focus and languages are very different. Sentra is definitely sharp and edgy, but Elantra has triangles everywhere. Care to tell me more about it? IDK what the market is like in Philippines for Hyundai and other Korean cars. I know cars in some of Asia is ridiculously expensive, i.e., Singapore. If Hyundai got rid of some features, it's probably to be price competitive, and am curious to know more about it, since I have viewers from Asia too!

@@CarSceneKorea The main problem is. Hyundai and Kia's local distributor strips down the most appealing features then sell it at a ridiculously expensive price. Imagine how the 2020 Elantra (previous gen) only has an oldschool radio while its rivals have the touchscreen radio feature and a factory backup camera. Hyundai has a lot of potential here but that feature problem is a big letdown. I know a lot folks who buy a Hyundai only for the sake of because its a diesel. If Hyundai brings in their models fully speced here, they might be able to compete against the 2nd bestselling brand here - *Mitsubishi*

@@johnfranklin5277 I wasn't following Hyundai, I knew I just wanted an Elantra because it was better than its competitors and I didn't want a civic because they are so low to the ground. Back then, my friend had a 2011 Elantra which he let me drive a few times too and I liked it. Also kind of needed a car at the time. I'm not enjoying it after seeing this though ahaha wish I could throw it away! But I'm stuck with it 😢

Why is it called Elantra in the US?

I was personally curious too, so looked it up and this is what I've found: Originally was to be called Elan, but it overlapped with the name Elan of Lotus, so put -antra at the end getting the name Elantra. Then as for Korean market, in the early 80's and 90's, there was a popular anime with a car that had name of Avante, that was the halo car of the cartoon. Known among most of Koreans of that time, it is speculated that the name came from the source.
