Wouldn't say embarrass, but it would be up there as an option if deciding between those cars. The updated chassis of the MK 8 GTI is apparently really good. Also the 2.0L EA888 in the Golf is a tried and tested engine with a lot of tuning potential. It has also comes standard with a really good LSD since the MK 7.5 version. So yeah, it's not going to embarrass the Golf GTI, but definately a respectable competitor. I just wish Hyundai designed it a bit better like the Kia Cerato GT as that is a nicer designed car, The interior on the i30 feels a generation behind and the exterior is a bit bland compared to its sister car, doesn't even have electric seat adjustments. Nice engine and performance tho. Not sure why people compare this to a Golf GTi, In my opinion this compares more to a GOLF R than a GTI. GTI is only slightly faster than an N-line i30 0-100

No way a comparison to a R. That's insulting r owners. Mk8 r 0-100 is 4.2- 4.4 secs. It would smash this i30n. R is awd. It'll be $15-20,000 more expensive when is come out over the i30n as well. Completely different car is a completely different category.

@@davothegreat9990 the output of the GTI is only 180kw, the output of this N is similar specs to the golf R. Thats why I would compare it to the closer related Golf R. Yes golf R is a much better car in every aspect but I think people think the GTI is faster than it actually is. The GTI is only a tad faster than a 1.6 N-Line.

The Gti and N are in the same segment (fwd hot hatch) and price wise the N is cheaper! They are direct rivals regardless of power (VW decided to price higher for less power) so why wouldn’t it be compared?
