The Hyundai Santa Fe received a mid-life update late last year. Inside and out, it looks like a comprehensive facelift of the fourth-generation model but below the skin is shares a new platform with Kia’s bang-up-to-date Sorento. Its body has also grown 15mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller, but the Santa Fe is still one of the smallest seven-seaters in the large SUV segment. The Active grade tested here sits above the self-titled Santa Fe base variant, with the Elite and flagship Highlander commanding progressively higher prices for more tech and visual presence. On paper, the Active represents the sweet spot in this revised Santa Fe range, so Haitham Razagui puts a diesel version through the grinder to find out how it performs as a package.
