I got my wife a CPO SEL Plus with the convenience and the technology package, 7k miles for $23k all in. The value is awesome, and I do agree with a lot of your likes and dislikes. The design does make it very fuel-efficient (37 MPG average) which is what creates the number one and only thing that bugs me about that beauty so far. When it's pouring heavy rain, either the wipers are too slow, even when set at the highest speed, or the windshield is too much at an angle which causes water to not flow quickly enough. It seems, at least to me, that water tends to just sit there. lol

@@OpFatty Since you asked, I should not leave your question unanswered. One may call that luck, but I say It was God's favor upon my wife and me. We asked, then he answered. Let me tell you this which may help you understand better. I looked for the car nationwide so I could compare the price to my home state (Florida). The most affordable one was in Maryland and was about $9K lower than the most affordable one in Florida, about 500 miles away. Despite my suspicions, I got in touch with the dealer, and my wife, back in forth, trying to schedule a day to go see the car. The following day, I was informed someone had applied for the car. A little frustrated, I must admit, I kept browsing the internet for that specific car and color. At the time, as a truck driver, I was somewhere in the Midwest heading Northeast to drop a load in Illinois, and a fellow trucker asked me if I could help by swapping loads for his was running late. I did not hesitate and did not ask any questions; I agreed just because he needed help. The same day we swapped our loads, I got a call from the dealer telling me the person did not get approved for the car, and I could still come and see it. Without hesitation, I said yes. I then started to plan my trip in a way to get there the following day. Now, remember the load I swapped? Well, that load I picked up was heading to Maryland 8 miles away from the dealer. I flew my wife the same day there so she could drive it home. I hope you read it all and understood.

I waited for 6 months for my 2020 Limited (white) to come out and got one with the first 2 weeks. I love the vehicle with a few exceptions you mostly have noted, except for the hesitation in the turbo kicking in prior to acceleration, sometimes worse than others, such as in fast starts. I also wish that the drive mode would not default to normal every time it's restarted. And now I just updated the navigation/head unit firmware for the first time and they completely ruined the interface which affects the whole system (all the other display features. Gone is the split screen where you have a choice of 3 feature to display on the home screen (e.g. Map/Radio/Weather). It looks like something a 3 year old would design, with a lot of the nice features no longer available. The radio information screen is a retro design. If I had wanted a retro vehicle I would have bought one. Are we going backward for forward now. I wanted a somewhat futuristic vehicle, which is what I though I bought. Had I know about the interface changes to the unit I would have skipped the update (and there's no way of rolling it back) and just used android auto if I really had to depend on a map. I came across plenty of other similar complaints about it but everything I've seen states they're not going to do anything to change it. It's already been updated again since with nothing brought back. Besides all this, the update took over 4 hours, which I had to leave the car running as to not drain the battery, and then screwed up my navigation system. I can't set any of it's features or even pull up the map. Saw several of the same complaints, one with the exact same problem as mine. After the dealer tried and couldn't fix it for a few months they finally had to replaced his head unit to resolve the problem. With the new firmware, or course. I know your original post is fairly dated but, if you see this, just wondered if you updated the firmware for your unit and if so, your thoughts and opinion of it. If you haven't, PLEASE read up about ALL THE COMPLAINTS online before you do since there's no way to reverse it.

I'm not a fan of this car by any means. The first time I saw this car in broad daylight I was like that front end is ugly as hell! Then about 2 nights ago I saw it on the highway and when I saw the taillights lit from afar, I thought it was an NSX or something special like that so I sped up to catch up and see it up close. When I got up to it, I was blown away how sexy it looked at night, the taillights, the side profile but those damn headlights just kill me. Damn shame whoever designed it just killed it with those ugly headlights but it does look really sexy at night. Almost looks like a coupe with that duck tail. Another thing I saw here I didn't like was the button style shifter and the fact it's FWD, but a plus is its DCT transmission. That along with the torque on this thing should make it fun car to drive.

Great review. But everything I see one on the road, I can’t stop thinking how sad the DRL make the front end look. Oh, and no AWD when the K5 has the option, deal breaker

Car is nice and a lot of luxury for the price. But washing this thing takes a little more time especially if you are anal because of all the angles, vents, the massive mesh grill and textured fake grills etc.

I have Sonata 2017 sport 2.4l with 93000 miles. Burns engine oil like hell now. Same problem will happen to these newer models too. Hyundai’s sucks.

I own one and the breaks aren't touchy like he's trying to make it seem. Stop comparing the K5, it looks like shit and the comfort isn't there.

Just get in a hybrid

Why can't Sonata just build an engine similar to Toyota? Won't that solve it's problems?

Is this a Hyundai made automatic transmission?
@GoLakers39003 жыл бұрын
Yes, 8 speed auto. They really make excellent transmission. Avoid CVT at all cost.

They do make great auto and dct. Their new IVT is really good as well but it's a bit loud at times.

The front is way out of proportion with the rest of the car, and that self drive, touch and set it off accidently and you are going to run over somebody?
@Bondovw3 жыл бұрын
No it has sensors. I couldn't even get it to run over a rather large bug.
@GoLakers39003 жыл бұрын
How are you going to accidentally set it off? Have you accidentally reset your phone before? No, right? Stop being paranoid.

Loved everything about this beautiful car until I found out that they downgraded the motor to a 1.6 turbo as opposed to the 2.5 GDI. It is a shame as this is Pretty car with a sub par engine. The engine is worse than the base model which gets the 2.5GDI. Who the hell wants a 1.6 turbo compared to a 2.5L. the 1.6 liter turbo belongs in the base Elantra or a hybrid. Not in the Limited spec

Go for the N line ! 290hp 2.5 turbo ;)

Hyundai has been going downhill lately. For me, the style has been getting uglier and uglier with each new generation.

Yea they're going a lil overboard with the styling now. They're getting way too cocky now cause people are taking them a lil more serious now lol

I've always preferred the more conservative looks of the 5th gen. It had more useful space too. I once fit a full size Boston rocking chair inside the cabin by laying down the front passenger seat.

Have you seen Toyotas the last 30 years?

I'm actually liking Hyundai's new styling, I prefer when automakers aren't so conservative with their vehicles. I understand I'm most likely in a minority here

You’re right. It does look different. Looks like a cat fish with an ugly chrome strip. Toyota, Honda, Subaru and even the Kia version look better.

I don't like the looks. Grills that look like animal teeth turn me off. I like the Honda Insight and Nissan Sentra for looks. The Mazda 6 is a good looking affordable car at the same price.

I went to the Dealer today just to look at the sonota and I was impressed car looks soo different the rear is fire 🔥 loved it. I got inside the limited I just Kept saying wow to myself. The interior is impeccable. Let’s go Hyundai!! For less than 40k u ain’t getting nothing better.. I want to get one ☝️ but I’m going back & fourth I like the SEL PLUS with the tech package. And the limited. The sel plus has a beautiful sporty look to it. And the limited has that lustrous dark gray with camel.
