Only if you want to use braces. I got rid of the Dakar set a while back, for an ITB pant I prefer the Adventure Spec Atacama.

I'm a 32x34 in Levi's. (6' and 165. Was thinking about a 34 long in the over the boot, so I have some extra room at the waist to wear shorts underneath. I like the idea of being able to cinch down the 34 if needed, but wondering if you think 32 is better.

I had no issue wearing 34s over armored leggings and still had room. I’d try your pant size first, especially with OTB. Those run a bit looser to start then the ITB.

Hey! So, if you use, say Leatt body armour, you’d go up a size?

I think it depends on the armor & where you fall on their size chart! If you're talking like an AirFit, no. Something like a 5.5 or 6.5 hardshell, AND you're on the upper end of Klim's size chart for a given size, I'd try a larger one first.
