Pity you didn't test the version with the E active suspension. Its an expesive option but the option that renders any competitors to a very distant second place. Worth every penny. Without is the GLS is superb. With it it has no peers. It can go from its default excellent comfort to sport car handling with a flick of a switch.

Insurance quote, what a great piece of advice. When I traded in my Honda CRV for a Mercedes E350, I didn't expect the insurance sticker shock. My auto insurance went up a hundred a month. Ouch. If I had consulted with the insurance company before buying a Benz, most likely wouldn't have bought it.

It’s a great car. Can’t go wrong with any of the full sized suvs, but some need a three pointed star on the nose. For them, this is the only choice!

Nice review. Would your 'best guess" be that your review of a 2022 GLS 450 4Matic would be substantially similar? (Based on a recent test drive of a 2020 450, we think the i6 engine provides adequate power for our needs .) I apologize for asking for a "guess", but a recent accident made us a one car family and we are in-the-market.

Very nice report. Try to image the GLS 400 d inline 6 twin turbo diesel 330 hp and 700Nm of torque, 0-100 kms un 6,3 seconds and 240 kms/h. Much less consumption WLTP combined 8,1 l/100km. Amazing machine. I love this model. Greetings from Spain.

Consumption of gas/price of fueling shouldn’t be a concern for anyone entertaining spending way over $120k plus usd, although I agree diesel version of any expensive luxury vehicles are much better received outside of USA..GLS is a beautiful machine in every version nevertheless

Lauren, is MB making this model for 2022? I heard they are not making any V8s for the US Market for 2022. I know they are not sending any G-Wagons. I think the GL450 is the only option for 2022.

The only V8 option in all of MB line for 2022 is the S class.
