The only thing that bugs me is that the lower part of the door panels where the door pockets are is hard plastic. It should've been a soft touch plastic with leather covered as an option. The AC row of buttons were also slightly wobbly in the one I sat in. Other than that, I love this car. The GLS 400d seems like the best option. Great engine and good economy.

Hi Nick. Thank you for the great video. Will you recommend the 580 as a daily? I know many people speak highly of the 400d. But, I love the petrol engines and find it easier to live with longer... does the EQC allows the car coast as well? Thank you for this great review.

Re AR, I spoke to my dealer and he said it’s not allowed in the UK which I don’t believe as you’ve demonstrated it in one of your videos. I just need to find out if it comes up automatically or there’s something I need to do to make it appear. Have you any idea please?

Oh if you have it, it’ll come up by default but you can toggle it on / off on the main multimedia screen. As long as you have it, press SETTINGS, QUICK ACCESS and you should see “HUD” just there 🤓

Hey! I believe it’s just the Maybach GLS that I reviewed once. It was weird to say the least…but I guess it could work if you were stuck in sand or mud or something (not that I’d take that car there!😅)

Hi GrrMeister, Ah Mercedes-Benz names are easy! So basically the “GL” bit is short for a German word called Geländewagen, which means terrain vehicle or SUV in English. So: GLA = A-Class SUV GLB - B-Class SUV GLC - C-Class SUV GLE - E-Class SUV GLS - S-Class SUV Hope that helps!

Hi Yaseen Goddard, Lowering is only available on the latest model, it’s designed to help with getting in and out. Hardly anyone even knows about it on the new one so thought I’d mention it!

Nick, I have a 2022 GLS. It seems I cannot lock the doors while adding petrol. Is there a way to lock the doors and add petrol without setting the alarm going off? Thanks.

Hey NicoCan, ooo very nice! That sounds probably right, when you lock the car, it also locks the fuel filler cap. So if the cap is open then then it won’t lock properly

Hi Nick. I have a new GLE 450 which is very similar to the GLS. I have massage seats. But haven’t heard about “training.” Is that available in the US? How would I know if I have it? Thanks.

The training thing is part of the energising comfort package. On the home screen there is a menu icon called comfort and it’s located in there. Just bear in mind it could vary in the states! 🤓

Nick, about that sunroof cover. Is there anything like an additional cover available to block the sunlight completely? I have been testing GLE in full sunlight and this has been terrible experience because of sun shining through the standard cover of panoramic sunroof. In BMW, the cover is completely non-transparent and makes it very useful and comes as standard. Anything like that in Mercedes (even optional)?

No sadly not that I’ve seen, don’t think it’s designed to stop the light entirely on most models. I have however seen a slightly different one on an S-Class before but I guess it’s a larger car so there might be more room for a thicker cover or something.

@@npoleary I am looking into GLS and I can see the optional rooflines in black for a panoramic sunroof in the UK configurator. Is this the option you've had on your mind?

No when configuring a panoramic sunroof, I believe they are all the same, I haven’t seen any options to change the different material of the blind itself.

It basically changes the colour of the roof lining 🤓 it won’t change the thickness of the roof blind

There’s a switch in the rear in the boot which can fold all the seats down and also bring them back up again 🤓

Like fuel stations? On the Sat Nav you can Navigate to POI’s, they’ll usually be “filling stations” listed in there

Ah there a 2L, a 2 R and a 2ALL button for the second row along with buttons for the 3rd row too
