The 1935 Deusenberg SJ Morman Meteor was purchased by my uncle in 1954 for $8000, the owner requested that $6000 be paid in Amex Travelers Cheques. I remember climbing all over this car when I was 10 years old, in my Uncle's garage and it was considered nothing too special at this time. I have the original Alabama License plate for the car "DUEZY". It remained in the family for 45 years until sold at auction to Harry Yeaggy for $4.6 million.

Hi Alan, thanks for you amazing story. $8k sounds like a steal, but remember that in 54 that was 4x as much as an average new car- it's about $80k adjusted for inflation. So still pretty expensive. But what a return your uncle got on it!

@@AdamJDM1 I already have! Watched that one right after the 2021, you did a great job on that one also. Good grief it looked so freezing, and so completely opposite of the prior year. I thought your comment was funny to the guy sitting inside his own car just to stay warm while the rest of you had to stand outside and freeze. Lol😊

Thanks! Outstanding journey! I get btw why Porsche didn't tell the drivers of the magnesium tube 917 what it was made of till after the race: Magnesium is extremely flammable once fire starts. The Mercedes of 1955 LeMans Crash also had lots of magnesium. Magnesium is one of the ingredients of incendiary bombs. Water makes the fire worse. (Phosphorous tho is the main incendiary component)

We have similar taste in classical music. Part of the Pathetique Sonata by Beethoven, part of the Piano Concerto #21 by Mozart, a Chopin waltz, what sounded like an excerpt from a Handel oratorio, and I couldn't identify the others.

Thanks, the audio came out better in this one than part II, I try to keep music to a minimum. And yeah, you identified all the tracks well, I think the only one you were missing was Bach.

Hopefully that will be in Part II, looking through my footage and have a ton I still need to organize. It should be up tomorrow, so stay tuned.

A noble effort, despite an awful lot of misinformed commentary. Two examples: the Rolls-Royce sedanca de ville and the Daimler next to it: 1. A sliding steel roof slides over the chauffeur’s compartment. No, the chauffeur is not exposed to the elements in that car. 2. The Daimler, being a British marque, is pronounced “daymler” not “dyemler”.
@AdamJDM13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for informing me, I will keep this in mind for the future.
@chartreux15323 жыл бұрын
+JSD HK 1. is correct but 2. is incorrect, the Name "Daimler" itself, whether you're from Germany, England, France of the USA still remains a German Name,. Daimler is a German Family Name. So it is indeed always pronounced "Dyemler" even if the Company was founded in Britain. We Germans also always pronounce Company Names that are English but were founded here in Germany as you pronounce them in English, so "Daimler" should also be pronounced German as it is correct. Just like you also pronunce French Company Names that were founded in Britain in French. Prost & Cheers from the Berchtesgadener Land in the Bavarian Alps

If that ISO Grifo is original it didn’t come with a 350 Chevy small block. They only had Chevy 327s, 427s or 454s, although a boss 351 from Ford was also available.

Also interesting to note is that the over all distance record broken in 2010 LeMans was done with the two chicanes in the Mulsane straight. Also had you been drinking when you made this video? Thanks for the advice, will keep it in mind and relay the info to my cameraman. Part II has less of me and more of the cars as it's more of my handheld footage. Please check it out as it may be more enjoyable!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
@AdamJDM13 жыл бұрын
Wow, absolutely ridiculous. My main question is the following: Do these politicians not know how electricity is produced? The vast majority of electricity still uses fossil fuels to be produced, plus, how the heck do they expect to make an electrical grid powerful enough to support powering all these cars at once? It's impossible with the current infrastructure. Modern gasoline powered cars burn very cleanly due to the catalytic converters and all the other emission controls built into the engine and exhaust system. Meanwhile, there are hundreds of things that produce far more pollution and are completely unregulated and unchecked.
@Schlipperschlopper3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamJDM1 Sadly today China gives the orders in the EU.... here in Germany large Chinese batterie and rare earth companies paid billions of Euros to politicians for this stupid bann of anything except electric....

These are some pretty spectacular claims. I don't mean any offense, but I would like to see some citations.
@InterspeedLessStress3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamJDM1 German here; everything SchlipperSchlopper wrote is pure undiluted BS. There is a Green Party in Germany, but not a 'Green people's party'. Said Green Party is in opposition since 2005 and can therefore 'order' eff all. The stuff with the 'single state owned gas station'? Freely invented. What the Greens would like to do, is to outlaw the registration of new ICE cars from 2030. As in Germany most governments are formed by coalitions of at least two parties, it's not sure if they could do that even if they would be a part of said government coalition. I won't go into every single detail of SchlipperSchloppers nonsense, but believe me: nothing of it is even remotely true.

@AdamJDM13 жыл бұрын
Um, yes they are: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimler_Company Please listen to my explanation in my video again. You are thinking of Daimler from Germany, AKA Mercedes. The Daimler I'm talking about in my video is the British Daimler, around since 1896.
