We have that same Trail S and love it. We added this to our fleet because my wife was tired of riding 2 up on a 4 wheeler. She love driving it on the trails. Living in Maine the physical diameter of the RZR is nice as we have mostly tight wooded trails and having 1,000 CCs and ground clearance it is great! My only issue is the trailer hitch they put on the back, it is tucked in behind the roll cage making it hard to turn with a trailer, but hauling isn't really what the RZR is for anyway.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I like to detail my stuff out, especially after the dunes. SC-1 is the key my man, wash, blow off with leaf blower and then SC-1!

hey, which one is better, more aggressive, I'm thinking about buying trail s or xp or pro xp 2021
@spartancaptain56912 жыл бұрын
I am split between these two, the trail S no longer has walker evans shocks though.
@oregonmotojohn2 жыл бұрын
Shoot, that's too bad they don't come with Walker Evans anymore. The Trail S is hard to beat when trails or spaces are tight, however, if space isn't an issue, the rzr 1000 is a good do it all machine. Neither one has given me any problems.

Late here but I’ve got a 22 Trail S and it has the Walker Evan’s

I can’t decide between the two man. I love the trail s but how much less plush or soft is the ride than the xp? That’s my deciding factor.
@johnandrewpt3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Super tough choice indeed! I would say with smaller bumps they are about the same, but as speed and terrain bumps increase, the XP has a slighlty plusher ride with shock clickers set all the way to soft. My wife can't tell any difference between the two, but I do feel at higher speeds the XP is slightly better but it is close. Good question!

@@johnandrewpt from my experience with walker Evans, ill never buy another Polaris with them on, specially the Velocitys on the snowmobiles. Complete garbage compared to a Fox or a Exit. But on other hand people think they are great cause they never experienced a shock thats properly valved and sprung for whatever vehicle they own. Most people are use to non rebuild able throwaway shocks, so they get a Walker Evans shock and think they are good. So imo id plan to replace the shocks with a Fox or a Exit if u looking for a Plush ride in trails
@oregonmotojohn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! Good feedback on the shocks. You do have a point in that Fox Shocks are very good! I have them on my mountain bike, Ford Raptor, Turbo RZR and Quads that I have owned over the years and they always performed flawlessly. However, I have found that for average use the Walker Evans shocks do well. But I do understand where you are coming from as I have experienced both.

Does the belt blower actually work? I see more guys say it actually slows down the wind speed thru the belt cover when driving at faster speeds, they say it counter acts against the Standard flow
@oregonmotojohn3 жыл бұрын
Good question. I have spent many hours researching this and 5 rzrs later I have found that they really do work. What I base this on is for my past 4 rzrs the first thing I did is to install a Razorback temp Gauge to accurately monitor belt temps. I would run the machine stock first to get a feel for normal temps and then install the blower and compare. This was a real issue on my 2016 RZR XP 4 Turbo with a stage 3 kit. It ate belts like candy, in the end, it was reliable but it took a belt blower, an extra CVT exhaust. Without the blower Belt temps ran roughly 20-30 degrees higher. Since this machine I tested belt temps without and without the blower using same Razorback temp gauge. The same finding held true, roughly 20 degrees cooler overall but more importantly, a quicker recovery when the temps did get higher. I think the big issue is that the CVT clutches don't move a lot of air unless they are really spinning quickly but sometimes you aren't always on the throttle hard and cooling is low. The fan seems to move a little air all the time and keeps things cooler during these low to moderate speed situations. However, in CONSTANT high-speed scenarios the fan may not be needed just as you wisely pointed out. Most my rzrs run at the dunes and trials where it is a mix of low, moderate and high throttle applications. In these situations, the Blow Hole fan has been helpful in keeping belt temps consistently below 200 degrees unless I really push the machine hard for a long duration.

Great review! We are looking to trade our 2013 XP 900. We have a small toy hauler. narrowest portion (against the refrigerator is 64". our current rzr barely squeaks in (aftermarket 30' tires). We really like the idea of the Trail S (price, features, 60' width). We like riding trails as much as possible, but being in central CA we have easy access to the Mojave desert, Pismo beach and the Sierra mountains. I like the idea of the greater travel of the XP suspension. How is the Trail S over "whoops"? Our 900 XP struggles with them. Thanks!
@oregonmotojohn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph! Thanks for reaching out, great question. The XP is king of travel when we go to the dunes, however, the Trail S is still super compliant on all but high speed larger whoops. The Trail S is super agile on narrow dune trails and is very much a point and shoot machine because of its shorter wheelbase and slightly narrower width. The only time that I notice a difference would be in large higher speed whoop section and truthfully, the difference is slight as I don't take those at high speeds much anymore anyway. I had a 2012 XP 900 with Walker Evans shocks (installed the Jagged X kit as well) and the XP Trail S rides smoother than it did so I do believe you would be pleased. The compact size makes it really nice when I am loading it up in the cargo trailer with the XP, so for a Toy Hauler it could be an excellent choice. If you were nearby I would have you drive them back to back! :) It might come back to how hard you think you will push each machine and your driving habits. Next time I have both machine at the dunes, I'll run them side by side through a whoop section and then talk about it, that would be a good comparison! 👍

Is the rear part of the roll bar removable on the s model.
@oregonmotojohn3 жыл бұрын
It looks like it could unbolt, but it appears to supply integrity to frame and cage by how it ties in, so I would not remove it. Good question! 👍 I know the top of the rollbar acts like a bridge to support the frame. However, if you are thinking about removing it for transport only that might work.

You just gave me a good laugh because that is true! I am around 5, 6 1/2 if I stand up tall, so I didn't really even think to mention that, but what you say if very true. The XP does have a lot more room in the cabin, but the Trail S feels very compact and point and shoot kind of feel. Good feedback! 👍
