Got a DS 7 E-Tense, which is a french "luxury" midsize SUV. It has about the same range in full electric, half the power from half the cylinders but much less mass to move around, for half the price (≈$85k MSRP with every box ticked like mine). It's obviously nowhere near as capable as the Cayenne but I wasn't expecting it to be. Anyway, You made a very good point : I was very skeptical about switching from an ICE to an EV so going for a PHEV instead was a softer change that made me enjoy the best of both worlds, even though I still wouldn't want an EV as my only car, me being a car nut. It must be noted that it's hard for these very compromised vehicles to make sense. I'm aware that I can fully enjoy my baby only because I am lucky enough to meet very specific criteria that make a PHEV the best option (if I had disposable income I'd go for the Porsche obviously 😂) On a side note : I find it fun to play with all the systems to get the most out of the hybrid drivetrain on the commutes, makes them way less boring. A few words on regen braking : the brake pedal is set up in a 2 stage configuration : the first stage of travel (not much force required) ramps up the regen and then the second stage (requires much more force) uses the actual brakes. There's also a very distinct difference between the two stages, like on the Cayenne's throttle pedal. I do Respect the Drive and don't hug the leftmost lanes when I'm not overtaking. Bonsoir from France 🇫🇷 :)

Forgive me if I'm repeating the obvious, but for the fuel filler, most modern cars have an indicator on the fuel gauge which tells you which side of the car the fuel filler is on. Next to the symbol for gas (usually a fuel pump icon) will be a small arrow or triangle. It will be to the right of the pump for cars with fillers on the right, and to the left of the pump for fillers on the left.

That's an awesome grocery getter but I'm wondering about something. If you start driving as you did on full electric mode and then push the pedal to the floor (engine starts running) isn't that pretty bad for the engine? Because the engine immediately after being started goes to like 4-5K rpms or even more. How does the oil warm up so fast to compensate the wear on the engine if it even warms up? Like for example when we all start our cars with ICE we wait at least for the rpms to drop and then we start moving with really low load (1500-2000 rpms) In the circumstance of this porsche, the engine is getting pretty high loads. Is there a system that warms up the oil while you are driving on electric power?

@@TedwardDrives Legitimate question, so I'd imagine, while cold, it's not a good idea to be driving in electric only mode, then for the first engine start of the day, be asking it to pull to redline straight from being literally off and cold, but is that just me being use to "old" engines that don't run well cold and most modern engines, especially since the introduction of auto stop start, are built to take that? or does it like preheat the engine? not allow for a pull on first start? I'm so curious, I just feel like that can't be good for the engine.

In order to go full electric, you need to have a charging station at home, at least 10KWh; you have to have a very good charging infrastructure, a warm weather (temperatures not lower than 10-15 degrees Celsius), a lot of patience with the charging time at the charging station, if you ever find one available. Electric cars are only for the city, if you go over 60miles/h the battery will be depleted very fast. I have an electric car and I know; EV is not the future. We are not greener if we use EV's, think about the production of the battery and none talks about how are those batteries going to be recycled, tones of batteries will fill the junk yards. A hybrid has 6-1000 pounds extra weight that needs to be carried around all the time; you have heard the tires trying very hard to keep this 5700 pounds car on the road at 60mph; a lot of mass, very high placed, no dynamics whatsoever. It is good as a bus, but not for speed in corners. This is a very good car, but it is not a sport car, it is an efficient-ish huge SUV. If you want a huge car like this to perform best, you have to take into consideration Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT; you can find a review of that car on Tedward also. That is a sport machine. the prices are considerably close.
