I disagree, here's why. Big 2 "parking priority" and "HOV Lane access" Business owner tax deductions. Currently, US business owner's who purchase a hybrid, +6000 GVWR vehicle can not only get a 100% tax depreciation on the vehicle but a bonus as well. Now for this SUV you can only max out up to $25k but with Federal & State tax incentives you get additional deductions and if you buy it brand new you'll get 50% bonus depreciation. There's some other deduction you can take on regarding the hybrid system. So instead of paying for a brand new $85k Porsche Cayenne Hybrid they may only pay $30k-$50k depending on options. They're buying it as a performance family hauler that has dual purpose for winter performance driving and over high waters. I stay in Annapolis, MD and we have high tides all the time off the East Coast. Many owners have weekend high performance cars they put away for winter. As much as I dislike SUV's they do provide a utility that an Estate car cannot and many prefer not to purchase a truck b/c a wagon is more practical for mundane family usage around town. There's no shortage of Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover and Porsche SUVs around town especially considering most residents own boats, yatchs, or some sort of water craft. Something like this is easier to maneuver around town on the small side streets, parking lots, back roads and gated communities. Personally I've only required a 4x4 for one occasion which was a steep icy hill that had I not used 4L, I'd slide back down like all the other cars. With in car Navigation I've been able to reroute myself incase of road closures, high water or downed trees. But saying it's for those very few minute things I think is invalid, b/c this truck has the same capacity as a Mini, Kia Soul, or other small SUVs but sits higher and out performs most sports cars or anything on the road in bad conditions. The #1 (I'll list these 2 atop) reason I can think of is a hybrid while less practical actually has an advantage I never hear spoken online. That's "parking priority" and "HOV Lane access". You get to park upfront next to handicap spaces if they have charger's. You get priority parking in parking garages at apartments or city area's. Priority parking at parks, amusement parks, and national parks. You get a HOV lane and don't require a passenger so you save way more time in a hybrid if it's how you commute to work especially if you used it to drop off your kids at school and have to drive from Annapolis to D.C. which takes 1hr in rush hour traffic without the HOV lane. Obviously you shouldn't speed but 9 out of 10 times you can get away with pushing 80-90mph cutting your time from 60min to 25min and vice versa coming back home and having to do it again. 120min vs 50min is a big deal when you add that over 1wk, 1mo, 1yr or 10yrs, that's a lot of time better used than sitting in traffic being no use to anyone. I don't know about anyone else but 250min vs 600min in a week is massive. 28,800min being cut by more than half is huge. So my big 3 is Time, HOV access, and Priority Parking. Even parking you save time vs having to park far away they give you a spot only other hybrids or EVs can access. Imagine being an older man or woman but not quite a senior with children and a full time corporate job working on the East Coast or all 4 Season area with high population. Just think how quickly you can get to an Airport if there's an accident on the road and the HOV lane is open. Personally for me I'd not get the panaramic roof, sun roof or carbon roof and instead would option a roof rack and trailer hitch. Porsche's are known for being one of the best trailer vehicles due to it's smooth ride and handling. Add a roof rack and now you can haul ass to a airport, ski resort or summer vacation and not sit in a bunch of traffic with a 50% discount + whatever you negotiated and have Porsche reliability and performance and value (low depreciation).
@dct1243 жыл бұрын
@@andrewfrancis3591 nah, there's many things this vehicle has going for it beyond a sedan or estate and I don't like SUVs but in the US they're hot because, of cost savings, time savings, privilege, reliability, performance, ride height and value that does actually exceed a sedan or estate by a wide margin. Now vehicle for vehicle an SUV just has ride height and towing capacity. You start adding HOV lane, parking, tax breaks, tax deductions, high safety (aside from rollovers), then it starts to make sense, when you can save some 30,000hrs of your life per year from traffic. $30,000 or more in savings. Even more saved on maintenance compared to even the Toureg, Q8 and other competetors aside from Lexus and Toyota which I personally prefer the styling and performance of the Ceyanne to a RX, GX or RAV4 🤷🏾♂️ once you factor in business you can get the Ceyanne for the price of a RAV4 or GX and have the same reliability.

As an owner of a Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-Hybrid, I very much agree with many of the points you make. Unfortunately, like most other "practical" porsches, having the right spec really does make a difference. Without the lightweight package, for example, the car really does feel far more luxurious than in the spec you reviewed. Likewise, qualms with the boot space and rather limited electric-only range makes me think that in hindsight, after a year of living with the Cayenne, I might well have been better off with buying a BMW X5 45e and a Boxter GTS 4.0 instead of a fully-specced out Cayenne. That being said, it's a Porsche and really does feel like a proper beast, and fuel economy (when the battery is fully charged) is a decent 10L/100km on a mixed day of city and motorway driving. Oh well, I'll make a more informed decision when it's finally safe to go full (non-Tesla) EV.

I could NOT disagree more. These luxury/sport SUV Crossover type vehicles are perfect...because they can do pretty much anything. Easy to get in and out of, comfortable for long distance driving, 0-60 times and even lap times that rival supercars (especially when talking about the Cayenne Turbo GT), AWD makes them good in winter, and they are able to carry 4 people, groceries, and golf clubs, while pulling a trailer. Getting ALL of that in one package is amazing. Sure, a Ferrari might be a little faster, an minivan might be able to carry more people, a diesel truck might be better at towing, and a Jeep may be better at going offroad. So sure, you can find individual vehicles that specialize in one "skill" better than these Crossovers. But if someone only wants one vehicle that can do everything damn good, this is the way to go.

The only reason why the Cayenne coupe boot seems smaller is that the regular Cayenne and its mechanical twin the Q7 have gigantic boots of 750 litres which are by far the largest in class. I think one good thing about SUVs is their higher boot floor - because unlike in estates and hatchbacks you don't have to bend down to put stuff like groceries in. Try that! Plus in a car such as this practicality is only secondary to looking cool, stylish, modern, "making a statement", all these things.

Why would you compare it to a Q7? It’s anolagous to a Q8. Anyway, I agree. What pointless boat of a thing.

This is constructive criticism, you ain’t wrong, and Porsche should think about these points 👍

So much preferred the old interior with that beautiful array of buttons and no glossy touch bullshit

Thank you James... I must say that my lawn mower has a better sounding exhaust though

I’m saying the Bentley bentayga 2021 is the top of the chain in terms of luxury suv. Had one in last week and omg that interior is wow

Spot on. Porsche have lost the plot with this car.
@sirfriendzone12284 жыл бұрын
The reason they can continue to build 911 GT3's among many other cars is because they sell so many of these. THAT'S the plot... 🤷♂️

Love the carbon roof. Best way to lower the centre of gravity of an SUV? Buy a proper car instead. Porsche, builder of sports cars...selling a massive, heavy and pointless SUV. Front looks boring too. This car may not be bad, but it comes with 1 huge question- why not buy a Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S e-Hybrid? Not only do you get an even longer name, you get a better car with it. All that said, nothing wrong with performance and eco credentials- the GS450h I used to own would get close to 50mpg on a run (I managed 67 once with a bit of hypermiling) and yet going from a 30- to a 60 it will drop pretty much anything. I reckon it's better to drive than any Cayenne as well. That's not bias on my part- I only own 1 car right now and it's a Porsche.

Very odd fault finding, when both main criticisms are easily overcome by choosing another interior (goodness knows there are lots), and the normal Cayenne body instead of the coupe.
@maximiliangisler8224 жыл бұрын
Controversial opinion: The 'coupe' styling fits Porsche better than the regular SUV shape. It's just completely useless on something as large as the Cayenne. It at least somewhat works on the Macan due to its smaller size.

SUVs are big ugly and stupid. Facts P.s God does that Taycan Turbo look amazing

It seems like today is very fancy to call something a hybrid if it has a million HP V8 and a 2 HP electric.....thing.....that's far from hybrid. By the way, for that amount of money i would rather buy a new G class G400d and i would have a real good old off road german monster bread box with a more luxury interior and much more famous exterior for sure. Anyway, good video, like

The big Mercedes G wagons are amazing and can actually do off-road unlike almost all "AWD" systems that have their computers panic all too often. And, there's also the issue with visibility. The Porsche/Audi/whatever turbo XXL Mk 2.0 E- whatever just looks like everything else. Nothing stands out in it, and yes, this one was even silver. If I spent that much money on a vehicle, I'd want it to stand out as, well, being a bit expensive. This honestly looks as forgettable as the SUVs Hyundai is putting out. You could put police badges on it and nobody would notice the officer right next to them bland. The Range Rover looks iconic, as does the G Wagon. And you can put a ton of stuff in them/get them muddy/still look like money when cleaned up afterwards.

I think the q7 is a better option. Drives almost as well, more comfortable and a nicer interior.
