I've recently dewedged my TKP's to 0 degrees in the rear, and it seems that TKP's with straight pivots are also somewhat progressive-steering trucks as well. What I experienced was that the hanger initially produces no turning but eventually does produce some turning after leaning for a bit. I think the straight pivot flops to the side as more lean is input into the truck - increasing pivot angle. Not too certain on this though. Would love to hear your insight.

Does rake produce a similar result?

Sorta, not really. Rake doesn't affect the turning radius for a given amount of lean. But it does affect how much force it takes to lean, and that progression. This is changing the actual steering geometry as you lean. I'm having a hard time trying to describe the difference in terms of what its like riding. When these are rakeless, they feel rakeless. When they have rake, you can tell they have rake. So they're not interchangeable in term of feel. But they're not totally unrelated either.

I have no clue about longboarding at all but just watching your video I seem to understand that this progressive steer acts a little like the "exponential" setting with radio-controlled aircraft. This setting is explained in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nauyd5x5mKp_fbs&ab_channel=RCwithAdam. (Safe to skip to the 2min mark for the explanation.) Maybe you would want low steering authority with low lean angles then a more assertive turn when leaning more. Is that true? I might be totally off the mark tho. Thanks anyway!
