Great video. How about a follow up of you "hammering" it in the desert? Or your thoughts of how it performs?
@twinturbo34704 жыл бұрын
ok......in your honest opinion.......do you think Ford will put the 5.2L Predator V8 (shelby GT500 engine) in the new Raptor? Or do you think that is too "bespoke" of an engine (low volume built on the small Niche line) and not fit for truck capabilities? The hellcat has an iron block better which would help it more in a truck compared to the all aluminum Predator engine
@mrtorque64884 жыл бұрын
From what I’ve heard you are correct about the “small Niche line” supposedly they wouldn’t be able to keep production up if they stuffed them in all Raptor it’s gonna be a limited run of raptors from everything I’ve heard
@twinturbo34704 жыл бұрын
@@mrtorque6488 Yes I read that as well.....the only thing to stop and consider that was never mention is that the GT350 is now finished and therefor so is the Voodoo. The Niche line would have been pumping out way more Voodoo engines compared to the Predator since the car cost half or less than half of a GT500. So the Niche line just got massively freed up
@mrtorque64884 жыл бұрын
@@twinturbo3470 wow didn’t know that that would be awesome if the v8 is more available then and not super special and priced gouged 🤘🏼
@DanEdmunds4 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with your line of thinking, but I don't know. FCA has basically made a Hellcat version of everything, so that engine isn't that niche. That said, and engine development project costs bank. Making more of them wouldn't hurt the bottom line, I would have thought.

It's rare on production vehicles, although the Viper-powered Dodge Ram 1500 SRT-10 had one with the leaf-spring rear end that came before the switch to coils.

Informational video, and it looks beefier than Raptor R.
@davidfarmer4 жыл бұрын
I noticed the link separation on the rear axle was pretty small, Im guessing thats part of the reason for the 5th shock. The small separation would make for better packaging though.
@DanEdmunds4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. The want ground clearance under the lower link. for sure. That is part of it -- especially when those are high-angularity bushings that might deflect more than non-PowerWagon 2500 bushings.

@bmt9734 жыл бұрын
Brilliant review. Doing justice to the T-Rex. I love it but it's too big. I saw your ramp video. Moving it in tight spaces is tricky... The rear shock absorbers are mounted too low. This compromises ground clearance. Greetings from 🇿🇦

Can those Bilsteins be rebuilt?
@DanEdmunds4 жыл бұрын
I do not know that. Bilstein is deferring some internal detail questions to Ram because they have an exclusive on some of the internals for a period of time (1 year?). I'm not sure how much of the damping comes from the main working piston, either. So much is tied up in the computer algorithm that makes the adjustments in the spool valves that I'm not sure if hardware tuning would be the best approach. I hope to learn more and get into it deeper in the near future.

You cant compare this to the Raptor. The Raptor doesn't have a LSD just an open lockable diff that you cant control. Its linked to modes where it will only lock in 4WD not in 2WD. The E-LSD is terrible, super slow to respond, its a one wheel peel machine. I was definitely disappointed after my Raptor drive..
