It's refreshing when you and Jack do the segments when you're in the vehicle together, and your knowledge bases are separate, but also complimentary, yet there is never any feeling of one-upmanship - the editorializing is spot on and ego is never allowed to seep in. It makes for excellent content. Thank you.

I have 4 friends with fully loaded raptors. All first owners. 3 of them have the second gen and the other 1 has the first gen with the 6.2L . Not sure how much they paid, i dont even know how much raptors cost tbh but im sure theyre around 60-70k and not a single one of them is a pavement queen. They use them constantly. Im sure more people than you think will be using these trucks off road. Plus these wont be selling at 90k, maybe the first 100 will sell at sticker for the people who absolutely want and need one. After that theyll come down to low 70s. Then after two years theyll be in the high 40s to low 50s on the second hand market.

@@MrAllthatgoodstuff Ha, back in high school/college, my buddy bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler. The very first night we sunk it in the river; the entire vehicle was submerged (even the top of the windshield). Had to get it winched out and drain the cabin. Next night we rolled it into a 15-20 foot deep hole while running power lines. Ended up getting totaled in a similar way less than two months later lol. Another buddy did virtually the same thing with his Grand Cherokee on 38’s I had a 99’ 4Runner sport at the time (the one without running boards and w/ the hood scoop); 35’s, rear locking differential, hi-lo transfer case etc. It would out climb anybody else’s rig with the exception of a Suzuki Samurai (which also got rolled.. like 10 times down a huge hill) Ahh to be young again

It was made worse that they were at the end of the press demos. The offroad track was especially torn up and washboarded. The worse dirt road/trail I've driven was an uphill run to where a lot of people tow trailers. HUGE washboarding from the slipping tires and bouncing suspensions of people pulling 10,000 campers up into the mountains. That uphill at the start with weeks of people gunning a 700hp truck up there looked about the same.

We had floated downstream about 100 yards by the time our rescue (ie drunk buddy with a Cummins) jumped in and hooked it winch up to a tree and turned it on. We got pretty close to shore and he pulled us the rest of the way out. No water got into the motor, thank goodness. Honestly though, knowing the guy with the Jeep, he wouldn’t have gave af

This is one of those Trucks where, as a Truck Fan, YOU DON'T CARE how pricey it is, how 'Impractical' it is, or even how much it 'doesn't make sense' to buy one. Like the Raptor, You Buy this because you want to drive the Biggest, Baddest Truck on the Block (Even if all you're doing with it is taking it to the Goddamn Walmart every week to build your ego or piss off the neighbors). The 6.2L Supercharged V8 was one of the Smartest Decisions that FCA has done this Decade. This Engine TRUMPS anything Ford can do with their Raptor Engines, Especially Since Ford made it clear that the Raptor with the Supercharged V8 would be a LIMITED Release. My Question though is on Reliability, and it has been FCA's Achilles Heel the Last Decade or Two. Will this Truck Hold up in terms of Longevity? The RAM TRX may be impressive now, but will it be in 3-5 Years Time? Will people still be railing about this supposed 'Masterpiece' of Truck? Or will it end up in the Dump like RAM's many other Trucks? Only Time will tell. Appreciate the Work guys! Keep it Up!

Well for one, Rams have been historically reliable. The 6.2 is durable, the ZF 8 speed is robust, and this truck looks to have overbuilt suspension components. The comments are awesome on this one guys! When off-roading usually you would be going slower (smaller engines, in low range), with deflated higher profile tires 38" on 16" rims, aftermarket monster suspension & travel, then it's a bit more tolerable (as in not requiring Depends for Mark). The TRX want's to be a trophy truck with twice the weight and 1/4 of the suspension travel.

The truck is just flat out bad ass. Ram did not just jack up a Ram Rebel, throw on some 35s, and call it a day. The TRX is so new that it could qualify as an all-new vehicle(at least under the skin). Being large and in charge took some guts from Ram, but they certainly backed it up. She's thirsty for sure(however, the 6.2L Raptor was 11/14 with only 411hp, so Ram offering nearly 300hp more returning the same mileage is an astonishing feat), but the trade-off is an astonishingly powerful truck with many tricks up its sleeve. I can not WAIT to get my hands on one.

The sound problem is easily fixed with a $500-700 exhaust swap or $200 muffler delete. Can’t say the same with the Raptor.

It would be interesting to estimate the dollar amount where it becomes clear that the buyer almost certainly does not really care what the car costs to acquire or operate. My guess is it is somewhere around $70,000-$80,000, but that is just a guess.

It's about time the raptor has some legit competition. I'm not a fan of pick up trucks, but from what I've heard and seen the Ram is miles ahead of the Ford in terms of interior quality. This seems like a much better buy.

It's amazing to see the definition of "excess" changes with each tech and machinery process improvement. I would be so bold to draw the parallal between vehicles such as the raptor and the trx as the luxo barges from the 60s and 70s.. The giant 20 foot 2 door personal luxury cars that sorta wafted over the road. It's excessive but people wanted that.

If that bit about the spring manufacturers is true and not just marketing BS, that would be a cynically bad example of end-stage capitalism, when scarcity and efficiency-obsession has gotten so bad that an automotive spring manufacturer cannot make one that's a bit bigger than usual and progressively wound.

I'm sure it's just a marketing lie. No one really believes they couldn't have waited another 6 months and spent a little bit more money to get the correct coil springs. Instead, some moron VP placed an arbitrary calendar limit and cost limit on this truck. It resulted in an arbitrary corner being cut. Are we to believe the market for this truck couldn't wait a few more months and make it a $91,000 truck instead of $90,000? This is E-suite mental midgetry, plain & simple.

I love the thing, but holy crap, $90,000 for a pickup truck? That's insane, no matter how awesome it is. On a positive note, FCA products depreciate FAST, so you'll easily be able to pick one of these up at half that price within a few years. Maybe even just a couple of years. Edit: I know they've made Ram a brand of its own, rather than a "Dodge Ram," but it's still part of FCA, isn't it? I assume so (not 100% sure)

The caveat of “if you have a warranty if you buy it or lease it, you’re gonna be so happy,” is that in reference to long-term reliability? That’s the one thing I’ve been mulling over...I want one, but plan on keeping it for 10-15 years and over 100,000 miles. I wonder how it’s reliability would be over such a span? Never owned an FCA product, but seriously digging the TRX!
